    Stanton Crossing

    Good for a night!

We stopped here for the night while visiting Craters of the Moon. A convenient stop with a good amount of camping spots and free!

    Mountain Home RV Park

    Very nice and organized park

They greet you when you arrive and show you to your spot. All spots are paved with nice grass strip. Dog parks in two different areas. There are plenty of trees to keep the rv shaded. Walking distance to Walmart.

    Park Creek Campground

    AMAZING

We were actually on our way to the Wildhorse campground and passed this and decided to check it out and were not disappointed! There was only one other family there on a Sunday night, and as soon as we pulled in we were greeted by a moose and her calf. Some of the sites are close and more bare and bigger would be good for groups or families together, others are more private. I believe there was 13 sites. Stars were also INCREDIBLE!

Frank C Jones King Hill Area

A Mad Dog and a Drowsy Owl

I arrived at the spot a little before sunset after getting chased down the road by a very unsettled dog, whose territory I had invaded off on the left-hand side of the road, presumably.

I’m not sure how many sites are actually there at the park. I saw only about three real proper spots to the right by the river that I could count, at least.

There was another section to the left of the entry road, which was barred off by a gate, but I decided to car camp for the night by the boat launch and not hike in with all my gear.

There was a perhaps 10-15 spot parking lot by the boat ramp (and the bathrooms) where two trucks with boat trailers were parked.

It was a Saturday night, and there was a little music coming from one of the boats close up to the shore. But it was a chill vibe, and I felt no apprehension about sleeping in the place.

The bathrooms were spidery but clean and pretty basic.

I woke up to the chattering of a crap-ton of birds. And I was not disappointed to find a large owl preening itself in the tree towering above my site.

The river, on daylight inspection, was great and somewhat enticing, but I resisted the urge to bust out my kayak opting instead for a quick breakfast and an early day back on the road.

I totally recommend, unless you want a shower and/or more services.

North Fork Campground - Sawtooth National Forest

Remote location just a few miles north of Ketchum

Dispersed camping along the Wood River and a couple of SNRA Campgrounds with pit toilets and water. Amazing spot within easy driving distance of Ketchum and Sun Valley. The road dead ends at the trailhead for the Hemingway Wilderness

    Birdie Creek Campground

    Dry Camping at its best!

Big area off the road, easy to get in and out. Could be a great group spot and fit 3 or 4 trailers. Lots of trees for shade. Short 2 minute walk down to the river. River was about knee deep in most places and was perfect for putting in a chair and relaxing. Wildlife all around, from eagles, deer and chipmunks. Four miles from where the pavement ends and right around the corner from Bird Creek Campground. About 15-20 minutes away from Baumgartner Campgroup and hot  pool. There is no reception, and zero amenities.
