Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Mullan, ID

Standard RV park with full hookups, bathrooms, showers, basic store, and dog park.  Decent amount of highway noise

It is hard to find many positives about this place. It has nothing to do with the people, but only about the "campground". It is a parking lot. No grass. Very tight. Lots of seasonal folks. There is a dog park. It Is right on the river. It is right on the bike trail. It is close to town. Beyond that. There is nothing that I deem attractive or desirable about this place. So for me personally, we passed. Please check out the photos and judge for yourself.

Clean park with beautiful creekside camping. Friendly employees and a convenient Brew Pub within walking distance. Grassy areas at sites and very pet friendly.

Road next the RV Park is very busy! It does slow down after dark but be prepared for road noise during daylight hours.

Great spot to stay especially if you’re visiting Wallace for a festival or stopover. Within walking distance to charming downtown. Very friendly staff. Some spots border a small river. Pet friendly. All gravel spots with cabins in other side of the river. No laundry but restaurant and bar on property.

This hike into the lakes is not for the faint of heart, but the most breath taking views of Montana at its finest. There are plenty of Brook trout and huckleberries to eat at each trail and lake. There is also a lot of wild life, including mountain goats, moose, deer, and elk. Please make sure when bringing pets that they know not to chase these animals and always look at fire reports before heading into this area.

Quick visit stayed here In order to explore coeur d Alene. On the lake and surrounded by mountains. Cabins, RV, tents sites available. Literally Something for everyone here. I like more off the beaten path camp grounds myself. Still you can't win the all. Our dog had a blast with our camp neighbors that made it. Dog friendly. Would stay here again.

Noted, they have planted trees but it is going to be a while for them to mature before they provide shade. 90+ degrees was brutal in this tar paved. All else was excellent: sites are large, well laid out, grassy areas, hookups are all new, location is convenient to everything as this is a pretty small town, areas to walk dogs in the fairgrounds. Dog friendly in general. Breweries within walking distance.

Farragut State Park, Idaho Lake Pend Oreille

I crossed the Montana / Idaho state line this morning and was pleasantly surprised at the AMAZING scenery . I’m from way over in Kentucky so maybe this is a best kept secret or it’s just not well advertised but NORTHERN IDAHO IS BEAUTIFUL!! I mean, someone says Idaho, I think potatoes/ farmland. So well played Idahoans! I stopped for an overnight at Farragut State Park. The staff was AMAZING! Friendly , informative and took the time to see if there were any cancellations or early departures in the crowded campgrounds. The campgrounds are well laid out in that there are many sites but they are situated in a way that still gives each site space for “stuff”.

Several areas to pick from. Group areas and campgrounds, shade and locality. Sites were very well maintained. Full hook up, Pit toilets and a few shower houses.

The general park map is lacking on the hiking trail venue. If you want to hike and in my opinion you do, see about getting a trail map or take a picture at one of the information stands. Even that map was not great, but useable. We took a stroll down through the woods and when we got to Lake Pend Oreille guess what?!! .... IT WAS AMAZING!! If you want a hike along the lake with easy to moderate difficulty 70 along Idlewilde Bay is excellent, it loops around by the parking lots and the shore. Plenty of spots for the dogs to get in and to swim. Once again there are trails coming and going and the trail markings are sometimes confusing but if you have a good sense of direction you’ll be fine.

There is a model airplane field, bird watching area, and areas to park and unload horses and llamas.

Bayview, ID is nearby with a laundromat , grocery , etc. On site there is a small museum with the history of the area , a Tree to Tree Adventure Park and of course water activities galore.

There is mostly positives about my 3 nights here. The lake is gorgeous and plenty of golf courses. Plus the conveniences of grocery stores and Walmart. The staff were friendly, the laundry and showers clean, but the WiFi was almost non existent outside of the office or library building. The beaches were very nice for both people and dogs. I rented a kayak for a couple of hours from the campground. The Tubbs Hill lakeside hike is a must do. I appreciated space and trails for my dog.

No site reservations allowed and only first come first serve, so it was a bit of a risk for my family and I driving across the country. Only stayed one night but it was the best night of camping for the whole trip. The fall pines were beautiful and sites were totally secluded. Barely would know anyone else was there in the campground. Only heads up... hosts don’t like dogs even though they are allowed. She kind of freaked out as my part husky part wolf dog who is super friendly came near her. They were kind of sticklers with getting her on a leash which is understandable. If I am EVER in the area again, we will be stopping. Wish we had more than one night.

I loved this spot right on the edge overlooking the lake! There were lots of trees for hanging our hammock and our spot was large enough for our 2 tents and several dogs 🐕.

My site didn’t have a lot of shade but the breeze was enough that it was comfortable all day, temps in the 80’s. We may have hit the end of the mowing cycle or maybe they leave the grass rough cut due to it being dry. Our site was otherwise very well maintained. When I drove in the camp hosts were actually across the lane SWEEPING one of the cement pads clear of gravel. Full hook up, Pit toilets and a few shower houses. The shower house is on the other side of Gilmore CG. The sites over there have older trees and more shade. The general park map is lacking on the hiking trail venue. We were greatly disappointed to find this campground full of trash, dog poo, and beer cans. Rowdy parties and gunshots all through the night really made it the wild west experience we could have skipped. It is a lovely spot so when it gets developed and maintained I would give it another try.
