Great spot close to Denver

Overall good campground especially for being only about an hour outside of Denver with no traffic. Good spacing between sites and good terrain. Tons of closed off ATV trails right out of the campground for good hiking spots at least with little kids. The only thing I’d say that was almost a deal break for the site was how noisy the area was. It is a huge hit spot for ATVs and dirt bike trails so the noise can be a bit annoying. Bathrooms could use some work as well from a clean standpoint and the women’s bathroom was out of service when we went. The campground has 47 sites and is split into two sections. Pick the 2nd half of sites that starts at #24 and there will be less noise (hopefully).

Remote place that I don’t think is very well known

Loved the campground. Remote, dirt road and bringing my pop up camper was a tiny challenge but loved the spacing of campgrounds and wooded area! We weren’t on the creek side but ventured over there and it was rad. One thing I would recommend is to get there early. We got there Friday right at 2pm and there were only a couple sites left. It’s all first come first served. We had a rowdy group across from us and there are no camp hosts to it was kind of a free-for-all which was probably my only complaint. The scenic photos here are not all in the campground but places right near the grounds! Pit toilet, but was actually in pretty good shape. As far as getting there, using google maps is the way to go and NOT Apple Maps. Apple Maps sends you to Cuttys down the street and not to Hayden Creek Campground. Great place! We will be back!

Nice campground!

There aren’t a ton of campgrounds in the area and I would say it is one of the best. The grounds fill up quickly though and as far as I knew, it was first come first serve and there was only two spots left when I showed up at 4pm on a Thursday so get there early if you can. Check out time was 1pm so no rushing there. The camp hosts were a bit… talkative but super nice. Nice walk to the lake within 30 seconds or so. Only downside was how close all the sites were to each other and for $26/ night + pet fees not the best bang for your buck to to speak. Not a ton of privacy but otherwise a great spot.

AWESOME spot

Absolutely awesome spot. Hosts were really friendly. Stayed in my pop up camper for a night and there was tons of space for pop up and our site (A1) was the best in the campground, I think. It was secluded with tons of trees. Not all sites had a lot of tree cover. It wasn’t right off the river but it was still only a 30 second walk to the river. There were fire bans in Utah but because of the type of fire set up on concrete and built in fire places, we were able to have a fire all night which was awesome. Also my buddy is a professional singer and brought his guitar so I’m impartial. We had such a great time!!

Not what I expected driving in...

So, after a long way driving all day and the way it takes you to get to this little hidden gem is in the middle of friggin nowhere farmland with fields and fields of hops being grown. Super skeptical driving in and then you arrive and it was perfect. Quite grounds overall, little basketball court my little guy was stoked About and the river highlighted the views. Best little place if you’re driving through the Boise area.

Served its purpose...

We only stayed here for a night and it served its purpose. The sites were clean, bathrooms were really nice and the views of the bluffs were pretty rad… however, it was SUPER windy the night we stayed. Like, people digging their heels in holding their tents praying for them to not blow away kind of windy. I was also not super pumped that all the sites were right out into the open. I could see into everyone’s campground in the entire grounds.

AWESOME campground

No site reservations allowed and only first come first serve, so it was a bit of a risk for my family and I driving across the country. Only stayed one night but it was the best night of camping for the whole trip. The fall pines were beautiful and sites were totally secluded. Barely would know anyone else was there in the campground. Only heads up… hosts don’t like dogs even though they are allowed. She kind of freaked out as my part husky part wolf dog who is super friendly came near her. They were kind of sticklers with getting her on a leash which is understandable. If I am EVER in the area again, we will be stopping. Wish we had more than one night.
