Best Dog-Friendly Camping near North Miami Beach, FL

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Topeekeegee Yugnee Park Campground provides concrete pads with full hookups for both tent and RV campers traveling with pets. This well-maintained Hollywood destination features clean, air-conditioned restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities accessible to pet owners. Dogs must remain leashed throughout the campground and park areas. The large county park surrounds the camping area with paved walking paths ideal for dog walking. Yacht Haven Park & Marina, Markham Park Campground, and Davie/Fort Lauderdale KOA also welcome pets with designated pet areas. Some visitors note the park can be noisy with a train line nearby, though most find the facilities more than make up for occasional disruptions.

Several pet-friendly campsites sit within reasonable proximity to veterinary clinics and pet supply stores along the I-95 corridor. C.B. Smith Park Campground offers pet-friendly sites with full hookups including water, electric, and sewer connections. The campground maintains quiet hours that apply to barking dogs as well. Most campgrounds enforce standard pet policies requiring current vaccinations, proper waste disposal, and keeping pets attended at all times. Paradise Island RV Resort provides boat access for campers with pets who enjoy water activities. Campers should be aware that while pets are welcome, some campgrounds like Holiday Park do not allow tent camping, only accommodating RVs with pets. The consistently clean facilities and security presence at many locations create a comfortable environment for camping with animals.

    Quiet Waters Park

    Worth a Visit

My husband and I rented a campground flat in December. It was on the water, had a grill, electrcitiy, fire pit, tent, running water and was pet friendly. We brought our kayaks and played around. Had a lot of space to walk our dogs. It was really a great time!

    Larry & Penny Thompson Park

Quiet and Peaceful Campground, trees, greenery and option for long term

This is a very nice campground which is part of the Miami-Dade County park system.  It is close to the Encore Everglades park (about 4 miles) so we stayed here after we departed.  The campground is divided into pods and each pod has about 15 or so sites.  We were in pod 4 site 20 (420 lol).  We booked this camp with the intent to stay for a month or longer as my husband had an opportunity to Captain boats in Miami.

The park was very quiet.  Most of the campers were retirees, a few families with kids, but we were there in early January.  The grounds are nicely maintained with lots of places to walk and open space with trees.  They don't allow dogs off-leash and although it is adjacent to the rest of the Larry & Penny park, dogs are not even allowed in the main park, at all.  We did however find a few dog parks within four miles or so which were nice.

They have a very nice pool which was open daily Wed- Sunday 11am - 5pm.  It was raining and rather dreary during our stay so we didn't use the pool.  They have a nice Clubhouse and it looked okay with tables, chairs, books, puzzles, but again very quiet.  Not many activities except for a few and we didn't stay long enough to participate.  After a week, we decided to make moves back home to Lake Tahoe.  It was unseasonably cold, raining so no boat work and not an ideal spot for the dogs.  They don't have WiFi and since we were planning a longer stay, purchased the Starlink system since I work remote during the winter.  Starlink worked great, but costs $500+ to get started and then $120 or so a month.  If you are looking for an affordable long term/monthly stay, it is great.  The rates were $850 a month for full hook-ups.  They had last minute space available, too.

If you are in the area, check out the Miami Zoo.  We were there when they had the "Zoo Lights" a super fun evening event.  They have other events at the Zoo and lots to do nearby.  You are closer to town than Everglades Encore, but still close to the agricultural area.  I recommend but not as fun or as many activities as some other places.

    Southern Comfort RV Resort

    Best Park in Florida City

This park is located right off Route 1 in Florida City. For the area this is a large park. I believe over 150 sites. The sites are decent in size. The park fills up quickly come the winter time with the “ Snow Birds” but the park overall is wonderful. There is a bar/Tiki Hut on premise and a big swimming pool open year round. This is a pet friendly park but with a breed and size restriction, so call ahead if you have Fido with you.

    Encore Breezy Hill

    Forced to cancel

This park was rated as pet friendly in the TT system, turns out it isn't.  Now with under 2 weeks to go, we need to make new reservations and may have to be over an hour out from where we need to be.

Phone calls galore trying to find a new site.

    Sawgrass Recreation Park

    This place saved my life!

Sawgrass Recreation area primary businesses are airboat tours and petting zoo, however they have a small primitive campsite at the back as well. I was trying to ride my bicycle from Ft. Laudardale to South Bay, but the head wind was so strong that I was moving at a snail's pace. Luckily, this place is conviniently located just off the state route 27, an oasis of civilization on a 30 mile strech of nothingness. the camground is only open during dry season, which is late winter.

    Paradise Island RV Resort

    Stuck Without Options!

3 campers and two RVs crammed into overflow. NO full hookups as indicated over the phone. Showers NOT in the “bath house” adjacent to these crummy sites. The dumpsite is between the office and the fence. This requires you to back into position or drive down a narrow path and make 3 tight turns. Florida has NO dump sites at rest or service areas! What????

    Davie / Fort Lauderdale KOA

    Very unkind management

I am writing this review to shield anyone who is camping & going through a difficult time in life, because no one deserves to be treated as we were. Unfortunately, I would never stay at this KOA ever again. It makes me very sad & upset to know that such unkind, greedy people run this campground- one of the few KOA’s in all of Florida. My family and I are going through a very rough time due to illness. We come here to be at a family wedding, to forget, to be happy & comfortable. We are big travelers all across the continental United States, and have stayed at nearly every KOA in the entire country. This is the first and hopefully last time I have ever had to write a review to protect people from coming to a campground. If you HAVE to stay here do not stay in spot 89. The KOA workers walk dogs they cannot control, that bark VERY loudly at 8AM. And all throughout the day, dogs walking past and barking. Absolute torture. We were charged for having 2 cats, $10. Never been charged for two cats that don’t leave the camper but, okay. When we got to the site, we discovered that we paid $120 for a spot with an enormous pile of dirt & construction on it. Not being dramatic. But honestly, I really didn’t care about that much. What bothered me was how they treated people. I pride myself on always being kind to people because you don’t know what anyone is going through. What bothered me was a man with facial hair on a golf cart telling me (who owns the camper & paid for the spot) to leave immediately because my sisters rental car was “not registered at the office”. He saw us come in and drove all the way back to the office to look at our registered cars. How bored and and angry at life do you have to be to care about that? Just wow. He tried to charge us money to register my pregnant sister coming to visit us for 2 hours because we “didn’t register her rental car at the office?” I have never experienced anything like that. Turns out there was one nice woman who is shorter and has dark brown hair in a ponytail, she was kind enough to tell us the TRUTH that we just had to park it in a designated spot. LOL. Why wouldn’t you tell someone that in the first place? Because you can get money out of them the first way. How cruel and greedy is that? I will never associate myself with this campground ever again. The nasty looks we received from staff during our stay was laughable. I look forward to sending a very accurate depiction of our lovely stay at the Davie KOA to the KOA Owners Association Board of Directors. I hope you desperately unhappy people can heal yourselves and find true happiness & love in this life.

    Encore Miami Everglades

Friendly, fun and great location for exploring South Florida

We stayed thirteen nights at this park.  We really enjoyed the stay and recommend.  The campsites are mostly nice.  There are a lot of seasonal campers and it seems those sites are nicer.  The sites closer to the cabin area are closer together.  I wouldn't recommend this campsite for actual campsite, but rather the excellent location and fun activities and amenities of the park.

The park has lots to do and while dated, it is kept in good shape.  The pool is lovely with lounge chairs, palm trees and a tropical feel.  They have a hot tub, too.  Everything clean and had a resort-feel.  There are an abundance of activities: pickle ball, shuffleboard, a nice mini-golf course, walking trail, clubhouse, fire pits and large open grassy space.

We have two active dogs and they have a huge field where we were able to run our dogs off-leash and chase the frisbee.  I am not sure if it is allowed, but there were others as well so seemed okay.  This was a real benefit when camping with pets that like to run.

The park is in a beautiful, agricultural area in the town of Redlands.  It is very tropical with farms, nurseries and lots of tropical fruit stands and interesting parks.  It feels rural but it is close enough to town to go to the Miami beaches or other activities.  If you go, check out all the agricultural farms, the Fruit and Spice stand, the 'Robert is Here' fruit stand and the Knaups Berry Farm for world class cinnamon rolls.  The lines were too long for us to wait, but we heard they were the best.

This is one of the most friendly parks I have stayed.  We were there on Christmas and New Years and had a total blast.  They had music, karaoke, dancing and potluck dinners. The staff was nice too, we met Jason who was super helpful.  My friend flew in to visit and she rented one of their deluxe cabins.  It was really nice, with a fireplace, fenced patio, loft, kitchen.  The entire experience at this resort was enjoyable and felt like being at camp.  Highly recommend a visit.

Guide to North Miami Beach

Topeekeegee Yugnee Park Campground sits near the I-95 corridor in Hollywood, just 12 miles from North Miami Beach. The campground maintains concrete pads with full hookups throughout its 88 sites, offering both tent and RV camping options year-round. Average daily temperatures range from 76°F in winter to 90°F in summer. Summer brings frequent afternoon thunderstorms, creating humid conditions that campers should prepare for with proper ventilation and cooling equipment.

What to do

Water activities at the park lake: Campers can enjoy the 23-acre lake at C.B. Smith Park Campground, featuring paddleboating and fishing. "The sunsets over the water are spectacular. Even though I'm a local, you never get tired of watching them," notes suzanne R.

Mountain biking trails: Markham Park Campground offers dedicated mountain biking paths for riders of all skill levels. "Lots of room to roam here. Great mountain bike trails, lakes, woods, disc golf, flora and fauna," explains JEFFREY W.

Observatory visit: Markham Park hosts an observatory open Saturday evenings for stargazing. "Also has a nice observatory on saturday nights to visit," says Robert D., making it an educational evening activity for science enthusiasts.

Renaissance Festival: Seasonal events occur at various parks in the area. "We were pleasantly surprised by this park. The sites were level concrete pads, bathrooms air conditioned and clean as were the showers. Park is beautiful and they have events happening- we stumbled on a Renaissance Festival," shares Bernadette P. about her stay at Topeekeegee Yugnee Park.

What campers like

Clean, air-conditioned facilities: Yacht Haven Park & Marina receives consistent praise for its upkeep. "This place is absolutely gorgeous, the amenities and staff are top notch. The grounds and views of all the surrounding yachts are simply spectacular," notes Charles.

Security presence: Multiple dog friendly campgrounds near North Miami Beach feature regular security patrols. "Very well lit at night with security. The RV park is located in the back of the county park, so there is plenty to do," says amanda about Topeekeegee Yugnee Park Campground.

Quiet surroundings: Despite being in urban areas, some parks maintain peaceful environments. "We stayed in the back behind the lake and it was very quiet/family friendly. The lake/dock area is beautiful, and there's a massive playground across from the campground in the main park," explains Kelsey P. about her C.B. Smith Park stay.

Proximity to amenities: Location near urban conveniences appeals to many visitors. "This park was close to family and friends. Stayed for five nights. It was clean and I felt safe. Staff were very helpful getting backed in and set up. Pool was nice and clean," shares Kristina D. about her stay at Davie/Fort Lauderdale KOA.

What you should know

Train noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience railway noise that may affect light sleepers. "There are not many downsides two that I want to discuss. The campground does sit next to a train track i believe its a commuter line so there is an early train 4am which is startling," explains Darren F. about Topeekeegee Yugnee Park Campground.

Tent camping limitations: Not all parks accommodate tent campers. "No tent camping!" warns Spanky about Holiday Park, which accepts only RVs.

Park closure hours: Many county parks have specific access hours. "Other downside is park closes at 8, you can still enter through the exit gate until midnight and then have to call security to get in/out," notes Darren F. about Topeekeegee Yugnee Park.

Seasonal crowds: Winter brings increased occupancy at most facilities. "Very friendly staff. This palce gets really crowded during winter season," advises Pavel T. regarding the Davie/Fort Lauderdale KOA.

Tips for camping with families

Water park access: Several parks feature water recreation areas perfect for children. "TY has been around forever. It has easy access to I-95 and is mostly good for locals to bring children for a day of fun in the sun!" notes Cort B. about Topeekeegee Yugnee Park.

Playground facilities: Paradise Island RV Resort and other pet friendly campgrounds near North Miami Beach feature play areas. "Campground in the city, great guest services, friendly staff. Near grocery store, and everything! Full hookup sites, spots are big and concrete roads, amenities like restrooms and showers are cleans, the pool is nice!" says Milagros B.

Educational opportunities: Local parks offer learning experiences for children. "During the day, there is noise pollution due to jet skis on the water, and the gun range located across the path. However, at night (when it really matters) it is completely silent except for local wildlife. It's a lovely place to wake up to in the morning," shares Ioana Z. about their Markham Park visit.

Historical elements: Some parks contain historical features worth exploring. "There are some pretty interesting pieces of history leftover behind the camping field," adds Ioana Z. about Markham Park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: Choose spots carefully based on shade and access. "We were caught in a few traffic jams on the way in, and ended up arriving half an hour after sunset. We were greeted by an armed security guard who showed us on a map where site 110 (our new waterfront site) was," explains Ron M. about their experience at Yacht Haven Park & Marina.

Low water pressure warning: Some parks experience utility issues. "The water pressure was terrible. The best part about the park is backing your RV up to the docks on the river and seeing all the boats go by at night," advises Harry B. about Yacht Haven Park & Marina.

Parking pad dimensions: Verify site specifications before arrival. "Roads getting in the RV park are good but watch out for branches with big units outside the park to the north. Train tracks behind it and highway is not far so it's kinda loud at times," cautions Mark P. who stayed at Topeekeegee Yugnee Park.

Wi-Fi reliability varies: Internet quality differs significantly between parks. "Was very surprised to have very fast wifi. I would stay here again," adds Mark P., while others report poor connectivity at different locations.
