Best Cabin Camping near Grant, FL

Several campgrounds within driving distance of Grant, Florida provide cabin rentals with varying amenities and comfort levels. Road Runner Travel Resort in Fort Pierce offers rustic cabins alongside resort amenities including a swimming pool, restaurant, and convenience store. "Our stay is and was great decided to stay 3 months. Having great time. Lots of fun, relaxing and great activities," notes Melissa R., highlighting the pet-friendly environment. Sebastian Inlet State Park Campground features cabins with water views, fire rings, and access to clean restrooms. Fort Pierce-Port St. Lucie KOA maintains cabin accommodations with air-conditioned bathhouses, hot showers, and brick patio areas with picnic tables.

Cabin options range from basic structures with minimal furnishings to fully equipped units with electricity and climate control. Most cabins in the region accommodate pets, though specific policies vary by location. Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo provides more upscale cabin camping with access to on-site dining, stores, and activities like horseback riding and a petting zoo. Encore Sunshine Travel in Vero Beach maintains cabins with access to a pool, clubhouse, and laundry facilities. Winter months see higher occupancy rates, particularly among seasonal visitors. According to Jessica A., "Many people live here year-round, and even more live here for three or six months during winter. There are 3 rustic cabins and a few spaces for tents."

Most furnished cabins include beds and basic furniture but require guests to bring their own linens, pillows, and towels. Kitchen facilities vary significantly between locations, from simple fire pits with grills to cabins with refrigerators and microwaves. Kilpatrick Hammock Campground at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park offers a more remote cabin experience with excellent stargazing opportunities. Visitors should pack insect repellent, particularly for no-see-ums at waterfront locations like Sebastian Inlet. Grocery stores are limited near some of the more remote cabin sites, so stocking up on supplies before arrival is recommended. Firewood is often available for purchase on-site, with some locations operating on an honor system for payment.

Kilpatrick Hammock Campground — Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park

    Awesome stargazing and wildlife

If you love camping, wildlife, and stargazing but still want the convenience of amenities (i.e electricity, running water, bathroom, shower) then this is the place for you.

Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park is part of IDA International Dark-Sky Places. The park has little light pollution and also a stargazing pad where you can also camp on.

The campgrounds aren't large but the campsites are good for tents and RVs. The one site we stayed at had water and electric hook-ups and a firepit. We were close to very clean restroom area that also had showers, washer and dryer. They do have primitive campsites for the more rustic individuals. The campgrounds are about 45 minutes from town, but the ranger station sells ice for $2.50 and firewood purchase is by honor system. We also saw other campers with their dogs so pet-friendly as well.

Lots of hiking trails and so much wildlife. We saw deer grazing near our campsite!

Make sure to bring lots of mosquito repellent, especially in the summer months. Otherwise you'll get bit...a lot! But it is Florida after all.

    Fort Pierce-Port St. Lucie KOA

    Close to town and well-kept

General: Small family-run KOA campground (33 sites) located 1.5 miles north of Fort Pierce on Highway One. All sites are FHU with a combination of regular, premium, and extra-large sites. There is also a tent site area.

Site Quality: All sites are level and gravel with a fire pit and a brick patio area with a picnic table. Typical RV park layout with minimal to no privacy separating sites.

Bathhouse: Two unisex all-in-ones that were clean and air-conditioned. The shower had immediate hot water and good water pressure.

Activities/Amenities: There is a small playground and pet area plus a clean spacious laundry area. It is close to town. There is a manatee center and Navy Seal Museum (but we didn’t explore either one) close by in addition to shops and restaurants in Fort Pierce. I was able to enjoy a 3-mile run to town and back on sidewalks.

This campground was more expensive than we usually like to spend but it was a convenient location for us to have dinner with a family friend. We arrived after the office was closed so did not have any interaction with staff but our check-in paperwork was readily available. We appreciate that we were tucked in at the rear of the property which lessened the road noise (and we didn’t have neighbors on either side of us). I would rate this three stars for our purposes but as it was well-kept and for others may suit their needs, it merits four stars in general.

Kilpatrick Hammock Campground — Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park

    Simple and well maintained

Our visit was relaxing and enjoyable. We visited in July and the shade from all the trees around our site helped keep the heat tolerable. The camp site’s aren’t dispersed and a little close together but we didn’t have any immediate neighbors around us so it was perfect. We stayed on site 008 and it was spacious enough for our large cabin tent, picnic table, additional table, dog pool, chairs, etc. Our site is conveniently close to the bathrooms. I liked that there is only one main dumpster and it’s kept a distance from the camp sites. I think this helped keep any raccoons that may have been around away from the campers. AMAZING star gazing location.

    Isolated but fun

Tons to do on property including little stores, bbq restaurant, pizza, ice cream etc. Horseback riding, petting zoo, rock climbing. BUT, my only complaint is the noise level of the area. Lots of boat noise, gas golf carts (big property) & it just happened that my neighbors loved their gas blowers & pressure washing lol. Lots of great sites to choose from. Nice staff. Pet friendly.

    Sebastian Inlet State Park Campground

    Primitive Camping @ BG Marina

We did not camp in the Sebastian Inlet State Park campground, but instead chose the primitive experience through BG Marina. There are 10 campsites at the marina that are great if you want a place to launch your boat and camp out between fishing trips. Each has a picnic table and fire pit. They are also well shaded. However, the sites are very close together and not private at all- it can get a little loud if crowded. There are clean bathrooms, access to water, but no showers.

Kilpatrick Hammock Campground — Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park

    Long way from nowhere

Expect a long travel to this remote site.   It’s a couple miles of reasonably decent dirt roads to get there, after several miles of remote highways. The only designated dark sky site in Florida.   It does not disappoint for night sky viewing.   If you’re camping here, please be courteous and keep your outdoor lights to a minimum.  The night sky’s are just breathtaking.   Check www.spotthestation.nasa.gov to see if you’ll get a glimpse of the space station while your there.   Hiking/biking trails are plentiful.   Be aware that there’s a LOT of loose sand.   So even on a mountain bike you’ll have to walk now and then.   Great birding.  Crested cara cara are frequent as are flocks of turkey strolling through the campsites.   Be sure to head out the road you came in back to the first turn and take the trail to the left (as you’re leaving).   There’s a gator hole just 1/4 mile down the trail.  Nature trail is a nice hammock view.  No pets on that particular trail.

There are 2 camp loops only the first camp loop has a bath house, which is very nice.   The equestrian camp has porta potties.  Many of those folks drive over to the bathhouse.  Even the bathhouse has outdoor red lights.

    Resort at Canopy Oaks

Could be great but currently Meh.

So much potential. Pool, food, games, billiards, pizza, a store, golf cart rentals, big spaces, dog-friendly, premium spaces with beautiful pads and fire pits, brick fire pits or even grills. Lots of space and 3 free wireless devices for your stay.

Cabanas at the pool are stupid expensive, ($350 a day as of this writing). They sat empty for our entire 11 day stay. In our talks with other campers, no one has ever seen one in use except as a consolation to an upset camper. So technically never rented.

Lots of rules; some good and some bad. However, seemingly none are actually enforced. This leads to dogs off-leash running around (their camp site and yours). No clear paths to get across the back sides of the park, which leads to campers routinely cutting through your site to get from point A to point B.

The first 5 days of our stay were quiet. After that, the park started filling up and you could see the place slip into free-form mode.

The Wi-Fi was great when it worked, and you were almost always connected. BUT, dozens of times a day the internet just froze. Devices would bounce on and off the WiFi dozens of times in minutes, prompting you to confirm terms of service every-single-time. It got old and we bailed on the WiFi by day 4. Although there was a 24/7 support number for the WiFi, it was worthless. The hosting company (AccessParks) really couldn’t have cared less if the WiFi ever worked and it showed, but only after two waits on hold for 1.5+ hours each time.

The views were beautiful, and the golf carts are in great shape and well maintained. Water pressure was wonderful, and the sewer hookups on all available sewer sites were very well maintained and at the correct height for any camper, they are flush with the concrete pad on every site.

The pizza at the shop was very good, and the little store has some great gems. But the Tiki bar has ridiculously weird limited hours, and neither the food nor the bar are anywhere near the pool and game areas. No restaurant choices in the park for sit down dining.

The soda machines on the premises are supposed to be connected, allowing for credit card or Android Pay, Samsung Pay and Apple Pay options. Similarly, the laundry facilities are setup for digital payments. BUT, and it’s a big but, even the machines seem to suffer from the internet oddities of this location. Most work once in a while, but really just spin the little orb and time-out before saying something went wrong, try again later. So even the on-prem machines can’t connect to the internet….hmmm.

The dog parks are nice, but not policed at all. Lots of un-cleaned dog poop that we ended up picking up. People parking in them for hours using them as their own fenced yard.

This facility has so much that could go right, but just needs some more interaction from management to make it great.

We would come back, but hope that these things could be addressed.

    Jetty Park Campground

Very convenient place to stay. It's just a short walk to the Atlantic Ocean

My sister an I stayed here for 2 nites, on a weekend, during August. It was fairly full, but we didn't feel crowded. There is a reasonable fee, but well worth it. There are RV sites, Cabins and Primitive sites. We stayed in a tent at a primitive site, but we chose a site with water and power, since it was hot and we wanted a fan. We also rented a fire ring and there was plenty of wood lying around and for sale. There is a store on premises for convenience (which means pricy), but Walmart isn't that far to drive. There is a shower house with bathrooms, and they were very clean. We spent a lot of our time at the beach, but enjoyed the camping part a lot. Nice. Going back!

Guide to Grant

Cabin camping near Grant, Florida provides access to Florida's east-central coastline where elevations typically remain under 20 feet above sea level. The area experiences a subtropical climate with summer highs averaging 90°F and winter lows rarely dropping below 50°F. Seasonal fluctuations affect campground availability, particularly for cabins during winter months when northern visitors increase occupancy rates.

What to do

Fishing from shorelines: Sebastian Inlet State Park Campground offers exceptional fishing opportunities directly from the campground. "Amazing little campground right on the water. Clean restroom facilities. Close to beaches. People are friendly. If you're trying to surf or fish stay here!" notes Brian C. The inlet provides access to both freshwater and saltwater species.

Beach activities: Jetty Park Campground at Cape Canaveral features direct beach access within walking distance of cabin sites. "Beautiful location! Walking distance from cocoa beach as well as watching rocket launches from Cape Canaveral and cruises ship launches," reports Mitchell C. Beach amenities include swimming areas and designated walkways.

Stargazing excursions: Kilpatrick Hammock Campground at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park offers certified dark sky viewing. "We are never disappointed with the starry views. We've seen wild turkeys, deer, and even heard wild boars at night going through the campground," shares Jessica S. The park maintains minimal lighting to preserve night sky visibility.

Wildlife observation: The prairie environment at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve provides diverse wildlife viewing. "The animals just weren't afraid of humans. Our 6 teenagers were so excited to stand face-to-face, only a few feet from gentle deer, bunnies, and turkeys," reports Roxxy G. Morning and evening hours offer optimal viewing conditions.

What campers like

Clean shower facilities: Road Runner Travel Resort in Fort Pierce maintains well-kept bathroom facilities with hot showers. "The campground is probably the cleanest we had stayed in yet! Most spots are shaded," notes a reviewer from sur.la.route. The resort provides air-conditioned bathhouses with consistent hot water.

Spacious cabin layouts: Westgate River Ranch Resort provides cabins with adequate space for families and groups. "Sites are decent size. Lots of sites with shade. Close to Indian River and the beach. Close to restaurants and groceries," mentions Amber H. about accommodations in the region. Cabins typically include separate sleeping and living areas.

Convenient store access: Road Runner Travel Resort features an on-site general store with camping essentials. "Great place for a stop over. Needed a place to hangout for a few weeks. This place fit the bill. Dog park, little restaurant, general store, pool, basketball court," shares Suzanne D. The store stocks food items, personal care products, and basic camping supplies.

Water proximity: Sebastian Inlet State Park offers waterfront cabin locations with views of the inlet. "This park is right on the water. We saw a giant sea turtle bigger than a manhole cover. We watched dolphins play at sunrise. We were parked right across from the water," explains Nora B. Cabins typically sit within 100 yards of shoreline.

What you should know

Seasonal pest management: Biting insects present challenges at waterfront locations. "Nice camp ground for fishing and bringing the boat along. Some spots are tight in the front row. The back loop has a little more room. Lots of no-see-ums (tiny bugs that bite) bring a insect tent to sit out in!!!" advises Melissa B. Repellents with DEET provide the most effective protection.

Advance reservations required: Peak season cabin availability becomes limited months in advance. "Many people live here year-round, and even more live here for three or six months during winter," explains Jessica A. about occupancy at Encore Sunshine Travel in Vero Beach. Winter reservations often require booking 6-9 months ahead.

Limited tent-specific areas: Most regional campgrounds focus primarily on RVs with cabin options secondary. "Small tent area enough for about 4 tents close together... but clean and very nice!" notes LA D. regarding Fort Pierce-Port St. Lucie KOA. Tent sites often lack the privacy and amenities of cabin accommodations.

Pack essential supplies: Remote cabin locations require bringing all necessary items. "Expect a long travel to this remote site. It's a couple miles of reasonably decent dirt roads to get there, after several miles of remote highways," advises David G. about Kilpatrick Hammock Campground. The nearest major grocery stores can be 30+ minutes away from some cabin sites.

Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo offers multiple family-friendly options beyond standard camping. "We went to the rodeo on Saturday night, did a swamp buggy ride, skeet shooting, petting zoo and rode a mechanical bull... and there was still more we could have done but ran out of time," shares Tina S. Activities typically require additional fees beyond lodging costs.

Beach proximity: Finding cabins near swimming areas improves the family experience. "The inlet has friendly, helpful rangers, easy to access campsites, and is in a beautiful location. Great for fishing, surfing, boating, and going to the beach," recommends Suzanne A. about Sebastian Inlet. Ocean temperatures remain comfortable for swimming most of the year.

Pool facilities: Many cabin-oriented campgrounds feature swimming pools as alternatives to beach swimming. "Great pool and people. Our favorite place to stay when visiting family in Vero. The full time residents are very friendly as are the staff. The pool is clean," reports John R. about accommodations at Vero Beach Kamp. Pools typically operate year-round due to Florida's climate.

Space launches: Jetty Park Campground offers views of rocket launches from nearby Cape Canaveral. "For what it is, this place is perfect. Staying out on the inlet, although primitive, does offer a bit more privacy. It also gives front row seats to the ships coming to port as well as any launches from cape Canaveral," explains Jesse P. Launch schedules can be found online through NASA's website.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Choosing the right cabin location affects the overall experience. "Sites can feel a little close but for the price and how close the beach is you seriously can't beat it!" advises Kristina C. about Jetty Park Campground. Corner sites typically provide more space and privacy.

Utility considerations: While cabins provide shelter, amenities vary significantly between locations. "Our site had pavers that were in disrepair and could be a tripping hazard. The sites were roomy for our 42' 5th wheel. Pool area appeared to be well maintained as well as the laundry," notes Douglas T. about accommodations at Encore Sunshine Travel. Most cabins include electricity but may lack water hookups inside.

Extended stay options: Several locations accommodate longer cabin rentals. "We discovered this place on a vacation trip to see a friend on Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce FL. We are now camping here seasonally in a 35 ft Class A RV," shares Jessica A. about Road Runner Travel Resort. Monthly cabin rates typically offer 30-50% discounts compared to daily rates.
