Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach welcomes pets at both riverside and beachside campgrounds. Dogs can accompany campers on campsites but cannot access the state park beach section, though pet owners regularly walk to the nearby public beach where dogs are permitted. Campground facilities include water and electric hookups, picnic tables, and spacious, level sites at all pet-friendly locations. Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort offers oceanfront camping with pets, allowing dogs to stay with their owners just feet from the Atlantic Ocean. Sites are spacious enough for RVs with slideouts, though some campers note that sites at Beverly Beach can feel quite close together.

The camping options near Flagler Beach offer varied experiences for pet owners. At Gamble Rogers, the nature trails include a butterfly garden accessible with leashed pets, while the riverside area provides boat launch access for water activities. Nearby Princess Place Preserve allows pets at their tent and cabin camping areas with access to showers and toilets. Tomoka State Park and Anastasia State Park both accommodate pets at their campgrounds with water and electric hookups. Sunrises from the oceanfront sites at Beverly Beach provide spectacular views, with many campers mentioning they enjoy morning beach walks with their dogs. The coastal area features numerous restaurants within cycling distance, with bike lanes and paths making transportation with pets convenient. Campers should be prepared for no-see-ums in tents at night, especially during warmer months.

      Tomoka State Park Campground

      Nice park

We stayed in site 4 in early January. The site had good separation from the neighboring sites and was level. The campground was mostly quiet. There are a couple of small trails right in the campground to see the Halifax River, but to have better views and water access you can walk or drive down near the trading post/picnic area. It seemed like most people were at this park for water activities and/or fishing. We enjoyed just watching the sunset over the river. If you are a pet owner and looking for a dog beach (most beaches in FL don’t allow dogs), Flagler Beach is a short drive from the campground.

      Compass RV Park

Compass RV Park Spring Break 2021

We stayed here during Spring Break as it was the only thing available in Saint Augustine when we booked. However, we really enjoyed the park. It was close to the beaches and all major attractions. The pool was nice and there was a basket ball court, corn hole and table tennis as well as a small playground. Since we booked late we were in what was considered a buddy site which was a little different since we had a neighbor facing our site who we didn’t know but still we had a great time and my kids made several new friends. The bathrooms were clean and there was a laundry area with a separate laundry for washing pet bedding. The park was almost separated into 2 sections with the sites in the back having mixed paved pads while the ones in the front were gravel. There were several trails through the campground and there was an off leash dog park as well. All in all we really enjoyed our visit and would definitely return in the future.

      Encore Bulow RV

RV Compound Lives Up To Extensive Resort Offerings

While just a short jaunt from I95, in under 7 minutes from 3-lane express highway traffic, you’ll find yourself sauntering south on a meandering paved entranceway with white picket fences and swear that you were driving onto the set of Dallas (for those of us that remember that Texan drama series!). Once you swing around the bend, a blockade of Ancient Oaks and Magnolias draped in an excessive amount of Spanish Moss are there to greet you to Bulow RV Resort (which is run by Encore RV Resorts). And WOW! does this place pack a lot in!

For starters, this RV campground is MASSIVE with nearly 400 back-in and pull-through slots to choose from. Nestled on the banks of the Bulow Creek and nearby to the Intracoastal, with the famed Flagler Beach just beyond, this campground is perfect for those seeking water (of any kind). And for those that prefer land, no worries, out here, you are completely surrounded by 6+ golf courses and a ton of great hiking trails. Don’t have an RV? Cringe at the thought of setting up a tent? Absolutely not a problem here at Bulow RV Resort, where they’ll rent you 1 of 5 types of cabins / cottages (note: no pets allowed on these premises though).

Really, the only downside to this entire place is the lack of privacy that you’ll encounter here – apart from being surrounded by Florida’s most amazing natural wilderness.  Once inside this RV compound, it is quite barren and therefore doesn’t offer much in the way of privacy or a sense of seclusion. So if living in an RV city, complete with road signs and attractions is your idea of paradise, then Bulow RV Resort could be ideal for you.

As for amenities here, you won’t be disappointed – although you may be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things to do! Starting with the basics, there are scattered picnic tables and BBQ grills and very well maintained restrooms and clean shower facilities. For RVers, all of the basic water, sewage and electric (30 / 50 amp) hook-ups are available and most of the spaces are fairly wide-open and barren, so you won’t have much privacy anywhere in this campground. In addition, there’s RV storage, ballroom/ banquet hall (because you never know when you might need to throw a big party, right?!), horseshoes, mini-golf, sand volleyball court, designated picnic / bbq areas, clubhouse / lounge, dog park and all the WiFi for your social media surfing pleasure. There’s also a fairly well-stocked market on-site, propane refill station, plenty of designated dump stations, shuffleboard, full service bar (yes, I couldn’t believe it either!) and an activities center that has a full lineup of daily events. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a fairly decent sized pool that has an absolutely pristine laundr-O-mat located right next to it. I know! Mai Tais, floaties and running a load of whites all-in-one!

Insider’s Tips? Here’s a few: (1) For those that are spending just a few nights (or even a week), you’ll want to find a spot much closer to the front of the property – as the back of the property is organized more for longer-term monthly ‘residents’; (2) For those that enjoy hiking, I strongly recommend heading just due south of this RV resort to Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic Park, where you can hike Bulow Creek Canoe Trail, which is quite short and basic, or head further south to Boardman Pond where there’s a pretty cool observation platform for bird-watching; (3) For tent campers, you’ll discover that this resort has isolated a place directly in front (near those white picket fences), where you will be separated from the RV community.  Again, because there is ZERO ground coverage, you will feel a little like a ‘spider in a bathtub,’ so I would recommend if you are going to camp here, to opt for a site as far west as you can (towards those Ancient Oaks and Magnolias I first mentioned – in fact, I would just go primitive and head in that direction anyway); (4) If you’re looking to drop a kayak or canoe in the water, you can either do that directly on-site where the Bulow Creek merges with the Halifax River (nearby the swimming pool) or further afield and southernly, you can drop your watercraft in Tomoka Marsh Aquatic Preserve where you’ll enjoy much wider expanses; and (5) When you get tired of firing up the grill for each meal and want to venture out into the local area, go try out Flagler Fish Company which has been a local (funky) favorite for years or The Anchor, both of which serve up just amazing seafood done up any which way you can imagine.

      Happy Camping!

Riverside Camping — Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach

      Awesome place in Florida

This was a second trip and stay. The first time I was on beach side, this time on river side. Both of these spot were awesome. Very easy to check in, courteous rangers, and the occupants are all very friendly. One of the most safest place I had been.

To schedule time here is tough. You have to keep looking and attempting. If you are ever in the Flagler Beach area I highly recommend checking this place out.

Beachside Camping — Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach

      Walk to a dog beach!!

We were only able to get one night in the Beachside loop at Gamble Rogers, site 20. The views from some of these sites are amazing! Our site was not on the water side, but we could see the ocean through the sites across from us. Note that the odd numbered sites are the ones on the water side, and at least 19, 21 and 23 have great views (they were across from us). The higher number sites on that side have too much vegetation behind the site to have a view - but you’d still get the sound from the waves. (We didn’t look at sites before 19, so not sure on vegetation there. ). The sites don’t have much separation and the sites aren’t very big. The biggest selling point for me on this campground was that they actually have a dog gate - a gate at the southern end of the campground - accessed by a code they give you - that you can WALK to a dog friendly section of Flagler Beach (the beach right in front of the campground does not allow dogs). This may seem minor to some of you, but if you’re familiar with FL beaches, you’ll know that the majority of the beaches don’t allow dogs. And definitely all the beaches in the state parks don’t allow dogs. So normally, if you’re camping in a state park, you’ll need to drive many miles to get to a beach you can enjoy with your dog. We weren’t impressed with the Riverside campsites at this park. We would definitely return to the Beachside loop of this campground to enjoy the beach with our pup. Hopefully next time we can score a site on the water side!

      Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort

Oceanfront, White Sand Beaches & Palm Laced RV Oasis

Ever fantasized about parking your RV so near the ocean that you could feel the salt spray coming off those Atlantic ‘white caps’? Well, look no further than Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort, which depending upon the specific RV slot you are fortunate enough to book here, you too could be kicking back and living life in the 'slow lane’ right in front of idyllic white sand beaches against a backdrop of an endless aquatic blue horizon. Located just 8 miles / 20 minutes south of St. Augustine (a.k.a. Ancient City), Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort resides on the famous A1A, but down in this neck of the woods, you will find that you have escaped the whir of traffic, busyness of everyday life and won’t have to put up with the touristy side of this northernmost Floridian outpost.

As for this location itself, Bryn Mawr boasts the largest family pool in the county (which I cannot independently verify here), although there are actually 2 swimming pools, along with a spa and private walkways with beach access to some of the finest ocean views along the eastern seaboard. Boasting some 236 RV slots, Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort is a massive RV oceanfront wonderland, hidden in the shades of the palms, wherein you’ll enter the compound through a very well appointed security gate after first being greeted by the good folks at the main office building. Once inside, you’ll swerve a bit around the bend to the right before heading straight, wherein on both sides of this RV ‘main street’ you’ll intersect four different perpendicular lanes (Sea Bird, followed by Sea Coast, then Sea Dog and finally Sea Eagle) before reaching a T intersection (at Sea Eagle) where you’ll have to either turn left or right in order to access the 9 (yes, count ‘em, 9) vertical RV slotted lanes (and unfortunately, yes, all of them also begin with the word ‘Sea’, making it very difficult to remember which ‘Sea’ lane you are in) that from north to south are called: Sea Fan, Sea Gull, Sea Horse, Sea Jetty, Sea Anchor, Sea King, Sea Ladder, Sea Millie and Sea Nettle.

Nomenclature aside, it all doesn’t really matter if you are looking for simply the best, which are the oceanfront RV slots (that run parallel to the beach along Sea Otter lane), whose numbered sites are #219– 238. Trust me, whatever the premium is to pay and park in one of these 20 RV slots is ABSOLUTELY worth it, given the proximity to the beach, as well as the additional distance from traffic that you’ll have back here in the furthest reaches of Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort.  Oh, and then there's the priceless oceanfront views you'll have - but to be clear, that really only works out if your particular RV has a rear-facing panoramic view, otherwise, you'll have to get outside your vehicle and post a few picnic chairs to enjoy the view.

Amenities: dog park / pet walking area, basketball court, lighted tennis / pickle-ball courts, shuffleboard, complimentary WiFi and cable, main office with marketplace store, spartan showers & restroom facilities (there are multiple units spread throughout the RV campus), laundr-O-mat, activity center, horseshoe pitch, propane refill station and children’s playground. Of course, all RV sites come with full hook-ups (30 / 50 amp electric along with water and sewage) and concrete pads. There’s also scattered picnic tables, BBQ grills and fire rings.

Insider’s tips? Here’s a few: (1) While I’ve already HIGHLY recommended the oceanfront slots of #219– 238, I would also recommend the following locations (if being near the ocean is important to you): 82, 96, 110, 123, 135, 249, 143, 154, 167, 168, 250, 181, 195, 209 and 218; (2) This place is one of the most pet-friendly RV outposts I’ve come across, so don’t be shy about bringing all your pets – I couldn’t find a single RV’er who didn’t have at least 1 dog, if not an entire entourage of cats, iguanas, fish and even an alpaca en towe!; (3) While next to the ocean is great, you will feel a substantial lack of privacy with the spaces being quite close to one another, so if that bothers you (and let’s be honest, it should), then when booking, ask for what available spots there are to determine which of those offer up the most amount of either space or privacy; (4) When you get tired of trying to figure out what that next meal is going to be when staring down at your mini-fridge or Cordova roto-molded cooler, then check out some local haunts, like Salt Water Cowboy (where anything from the Land, Sea and Swamp section like fried Alligator is pretty amazing), World Famous Oasis Restaurant or Connolly’s Shore Grill for fresh caught seafood; (5) If you are looking for a decent place to do some great hiking, then look no further than due southwest of Bryn Mawr where you can check out Matanzas State Park, that has miles and miles of unspoiled hiking trails with virtually the entire place to yourself (save the deer and gators that you might come across); and (6) Carrying watercraft and looking for a nice spot to hit the water? Then I HIGHLY recommend Princess Place Preserve AND Faver-Dyke SP that offers access to the Matanzas and Tolomato Rivers as well as Pellicer Creek.

      Happy Camping!

      Blue Spring State Park Campground

Lovely pet friendly camping and spring

This campground was awesome for a weekend away with the family and dogs. It was still very hot and buggy in Florida so be warned If this is an issue for you. Large campsites with a picnic table, electric, and water. Pet friendly and clean bathrooms with a small walking path for the pups. Been to better but a great weekend away!

    Guide to Flagler Beach

Flagler Beach camping areas stretch along Florida's Atlantic Coast with easy access to both ocean and inland waterways. The subtropical climate averages 80°F in summer and 60°F in winter, making it suitable for year-round camping. Most campsites near Flagler Beach sit at sea level with elevations under 15 feet, resulting in sandy soils that drain quickly after Florida's frequent afternoon showers.

    What to do

Kayaking and water sports: Tomoka State Park Campground offers excellent water access with boat launching facilities. "You can rent kayaks and canoes via the outpost. The sites are private but not far from the neighboring sites," notes Kelly R. The outpost even serves their own custom-brewed beer.

Bicycling on area trails: Biking paths connect many area campgrounds to nearby amenities. At Anastasia State Park Campground, "I enjoyed riding bikes around the different campgrounds" mentions Jordan S. The park features multiple bicycle-friendly trails that connect camping loops with beach access points.

Wildlife viewing and fishing: The waterways around Flagler Beach support abundant wildlife. "We saw deer more frequently than we saw other humans," reports Taylor about Princess Place Preserve. The preserve's dock sites provide direct water access where "you can launch your boat from your site, fish and enjoy."

    What campers like

Beachfront RV parking: Oceanfront camping puts you steps from the Atlantic. "Beverly beach puts you and your RV feet away from the Atlantic Ocean. They have options for many different budgets from deluxe oceanfront to cheaper sites that are across the street," shares Keith and Tia S. about Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort.

Exceptionally clean facilities: Maintenance standards at state parks receive consistent praise. One camper at Riverside Camping — Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach reports, "In 50,000 miles on the road, I have never seen a cleaner shower room facility. I even used their shower facilities (we're so picky that we don't normally use facilities)."

Privacy between sites: Many campgrounds offer vegetation barriers between sites. "The sites are wide and level, but offer little shade," notes AnnMarie E. about Riverside Camping at Gamble Rogers. At Anastasia State Park, "These campsites offer a serene amount of privacy with the space the campgrounds are working with," according to Issa F.

    What you should know

Insect preparation is essential: No-see-ums and ticks can impact camping comfort. "Be ready...At night if sleeping in a tent make sure your tent doesn't let in the no see ems. It made for a long night," warns Rusty R. about Riverside Camping at Gamble Rogers Memorial.

Reservation challenges: Securing sites requires advance planning. Kevin H. notes, "Hard to reserve - so have to plan a little" for Riverside Camping at Gamble Rogers. Popular campgrounds like Princess Place Preserve book up quickly, especially for weekends.

Dog beach access alternatives: While some state park beaches prohibit dogs, nearby options exist. At Beachside Camping — Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach, "Dogs can go on the public beach which is attached, but not the state park beach," explains Chris C. This provides options for pet owners seeking dog friendly campgrounds near Flagler Beach.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity: Some sites offer direct playground access. At Riverside Camping at Gamble Rogers, "We have site 33 which is amazing to let the kids play, you can see the playground but still have some privacy from it," mentions Kat G.

Beach gear rentals: Equipment rentals save packing space. Anastasia State Park offers "kayak rentals to live music, you don't want to miss this lovely state park," advises Amelia W. Having rental access means families can travel lighter while still enjoying water activities.

Educational opportunities: Historic sites provide learning experiences. Princess Place Preserve offers rich history lessons. "The Ranger who was working when we were there was really helpful. He gave us a private tour of the historic buildings because no tour was scheduled during our stay," shares Aida K.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection for privacy: Location within a campground affects experience. At Beachside Camping — Gamble Rogers, "IMHO the best sites on the beachside are those located furthest south(#25-#34) as they are further away from the entrance and seem better shrouded from the traffic noise," advises Stuart K.

Hookup variations: Electric service types vary between campgrounds. At Tomoka State Park, "each campsites has a fire pit and a picnic table. Has water hook up and 30 amp power; no sewer on site," explains Nelson G. Sites with full hookups at dog friendly campgrounds near Flagler Beach like Beverly Beach Camptown command premium prices but offer maximum convenience.

Size restrictions matter: Not all sites accommodate larger RVs. "All sites are level; driveways on the Atlantic side are sand while the ones on the riverside are gravel. The sites on the ocean side are shorter; while larger RVs would likely fit better in the riverside sites," notes Lee D. about the two camping sections at Gamble Rogers.
