    Weathers RV Park

    Great Little RV Park

We had 50 amp, full hookups and stayed for a week. Stable power, good water pressure and threaded sewer connectors. The sites are level, decently spaced and easy to access. The wonderful lady that runs the place (Marti) is warm, friendly and very appreciative of business. If you’re in the area, I recommend staying here. If you’re close by, I’d recommend the same!

    Great Spot

Was able to find a really nice open spot with amazing views of the mountains. Was big and spacious enough for me and my friend to camp in our vans. No one around for miles!

    Tree sheltered sites along

I walked up the road about three miles on the way to the lake because the beginning of the road was way to rough for my van with large rocks about 6 inch diameter.  There were lots of people disperse camping on the hilside above Como Road.

    Red River access

We camped right to. The Red River, the site was fairly clean but we cleaned up what the campground host failed to pick up.

Picnic table and fire ring. Pit toilet was clean.

This is a great place to stay and it allows for day trips into Taos and Valle Vidal which is a spectacular trip. We saw large herds of bison roaming and had to wait for 20 minutes while they crossed the dirt road.

    Great campground!

Beautiful river and lots of wildlife. Drive past the wildlife area sign that says no camping. That sign is only for the entranced area. On down the road you will see the entrance and pay station for the campgrounds. Gorgeous! Nice trail to hike as well.

    Best RV park in town

By far the best RV park in town. Clean drinkable water. Clean shower and bathroom available to these who choose to not use their own. Lots of shade. Wildlife walk through the park often. Police patrol the area often. Owner lives on site and is very helpful when needed.

    Quick Stop

Quick and easy to find. Area was easily accessible. A great option for those on a budget and attempting to avoid paying fees for one night stays. Nice views of the valley and mountain behind. Sites were not the most level going up the mountainside and a bit rocky. Would stay there again!

    Beautiful views & Isolated

This place is good for those who have clearance and a 4WD. Road can be rough but pretty much all pickups are good. Don’t need a jeep. If it rains, you could get in trouble. The views are beautiful. Especially higher up. Some spots, I didn’t find tons of spots. I was the only one here on a Friday night last week if July 🤷🏼‍♀️. Or if there were others I didn’t know it. You get cover of some trees quicker than the sacred mountain location farther south on same road. You have to open a gate to get in. I would recommend it, and will probably be back at some point.

    Great place with river access

This has been once of the best places we have stayed, There is no electric hook ups at the site. I can hear noise from the road but it really didn’t bother us. We did have river access at our site. Camp host was great. We stayed another night as we really enjoyed the area.

    Dispersed Mountain Views !

This campsite is very popular, I would definitely recommend arriving early morning time to secure a spot. We got in fairly late in the night from Texas and had to drive in a ways. Many people left early in the morning so sites opened up fairly quickly. The road is graded and then turns into a rocky road that is manageable in a crossover for a ways then high clearance will be needed. There was a small flooded portion that is next to the helipad but we just drove up onto the helipad to get around it as to not risk getting stuck. There are plenty of sites available and even a circle drive in the front of the road if you don’t feel like venturing in during the night. There are A TON of flies! Lots of bug spray and loose clothing to avoid those pesky biting flies. We had a beautiful view of the mountain and Great Sand dunes is a short 20 minutes away. Our pups loved the large open spaces but beware of cacti and tiny burrs.

Piñon Campground — Lathrop State Park

    Excellent park

The pinion campground was a great choice for our first rv stay. The park is accommodating with toilets and showers at the campgrounds and has hiking trails and plenty of lake to fish from. We stayed two nights during the week and it was plenty quiet at night and the campsite was a relatively good size. Ours had 30 amp service, and had a spigot not far, to fill our fresh water tank. There was a dump station that was free to use also. Great views and the sand dunes were only an hour away. I highly recommend this place.

    Easy access, Level, No services

Easy road in from I25. Basically a big level parking lot with sites on the outer loop that easily accommodate big rigs. One side has a view of the mountains. The other side has a view of the forest and creek. No power. No water hookups but there is a central spigot that can be used to refill. No black dump anywhere in the park. Good Verizon and T-Mobile signal. Cool weather even in July. Despite the negatives I loved the area. NOTE - most park trails are closed until the end of July due to calving season.

A bit crowded, but lovely in all the right ways

This is your quintessential mom n pop RV stop in all the right ways. Owners are super helpful in guiding us to our site (which is necessary as there are some spots that are a tight squeeze). They have a great restaurant attached that we utilized for breakfast. They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and a farmers market that set up on property on Wednesday if i remember correctly. A lot of full time residents and everyone was so lovely and helpful. Eagle Nest Lake is literally across the road and a wonderful trail to walk or bike. We definitely will stay here anytime we are back in the area.

Depends on What Campsite You Get

Some camp sites are very large and only for 18 and over, super nice, and next to big trails. Some camp sites are incredible tight and congested. There are lots of trails, fishing, and side-by-side action.

Dog friendly, but lots of dogs.

Staff is accommodating and you can trail walk, street walk, and free shuttle into town.

    Beautiful Spot

A very short drive off the road, open and close the gate to get in. We parked up by a little stream in an E350 RV. Ground a bit bumpy, but drivable if you go slow. Cell signal okay, 5G 4bars AT&T but about 1-3 Mbps. Amazing wide open Mountain View’s. Many many bitey bugs!
