Quiet and private disbursed sites

Easy to find. A pleasant spot with 360 views of burnt Joshua forest. Low clearance vehicle ok.

Beach and regular campsite open

Visited today and seen the primitive camping area (no hookups) was currently closed. The regular campsites with full hookups was open. Maybe with weather, and less campers is the reason for closing the overflow/primitive side. Only 1 RV today and all the other sites open. Beach was crowded on…

Did not camp, only came for one day. But did take driving tour through the campsite. Only saw 3-4 RV’s. Maybe bc we came mid July at it was over 110 F! The river was cold but once in you acclimate. Did some snorkeling. Beautiful sandy spots. Just dont understand with all the space why some people…

Beautiful and Serene

We stayed here in mid-March. It was beautiful. Good hiking nearby, great star gazing and over all very peaceful and relaxing. It was cold in March at night so be prepared. Zero cell service so you are certainly unplugged!! Don’t miss other hikes near this camp spot, Kelso Depot is great along with…

Awesome, private, great stars and great views!

This was was one of the favorite spots I stayed at during a cross-country road trip from California to Florida in February 2021. It's quite a long drive once you get into Mojave to reach this site, and it's a bit of a bumpy drive. I was in a two-wheel drive van and it was totally fine, but…

Great place for dispersed camping and the main dirt road goes As far as the eye can see you so there’s plenty of places to pull over park camp and enjoy your time when you first pull in there’s decent spots for big rigs but I wouldn’t drive any further back if you don’t feel comfortable with the…

Old & Rough & Trashy

I gave it 2 only because the campground host was very accommodating, otherwise it's a 1. The so called pads were really bad, could not get level. No water, it's dry camping! The Day Beach was crowded and had alot of trash all over. Too many small children in the water made me leary of entering  for…

Large campsites and close to the river

Stayed here in March for 3 nights. This place was my first choice to stay, as I been here plenty of times before but never camped here. Its FCFS and the sites are usually full or nearly full. Mostly with the snowbirds during the winter months. The sites are fairly large and spaced out. They were…

An experience that will never be forgotten

The best camping experience I’ve ever had. Sites are nothing more than fire rings and small clearings among the various desert flora that stretch for miles. Perfect for those who want a truly primitive experience. Rock formations litter the hundreds of miles of flat desert providing countless…

Cottonwood cove

Sites are very close together with very few amenities or shade. View of the lake is blocked by the motel. Only plus is proximity to the water and full hookups

Quiet desert spot

Pleasantly surprised by the well maintained spots, cleanliness and very quiet. We just stopped for a night while passing through. Easy to find and get to. My son loved all the rocks for his RC crawler.

One of my favs

I love this place so much. It’s far enough from town to have an amazing but close to a gas station if needed.

Not a ton of traffic at night. Sadly this place was victim of the recent fire and a lot of the awesome Joshua trees are black and look dead. I still love it.

Desert solitude

I stayed 1 night (5/7/21) in a roof top tent on my Jeep. I didn’t see anyone else at any of the other sites that I checked out & only had one vehicle drive by in the morning as I was packing up. Very quiet & peaceful, though it was quite windy throughout the night. Lots of burnt Joshua…

Rip Off.

Exspect to pay for any car you bring in this state park. This is a rip off park. We payed $45 for the camper truck and $25 for a car because it had az.lic. on a rental car. We could have stay at AVI for two nights at this price.
