RV sites near Eureka, California provide access to the redwood forests and coastal attractions of Humboldt County. Most campgrounds in this region remain open year-round, with winter temperatures rarely dropping below freezing. Cell service quality varies significantly between locations, with coastal sites generally offering stronger connectivity than those nestled in redwood groves.
What to do
Beach access: 1 mile from campground: Elk Country RV Resort offers proximity to secluded beaches. "It's a 2 min drive (or mile walk) to a beautiful and secluded beach. Also a short and beautiful 20 minute drive to the Lady Bird Trail in Redwood National Park," notes Erin A.
Wildlife viewing: Roosevelt elk herds: Elk Country RV Resort & Campground features resident elk that frequently pass through the camping areas. "Elk country rv resort was AMAZING! Nothing beats sleeping under the canopy of redwood trees and waking in the brisk morning to find elk grazing in the adjacent pasture, who could care less that you're there," reports Renee R.
Water activities: fishing and paddling: The Samoa Boat Ramp County Park sits between the ocean and Humboldt Bay, providing water access in multiple directions. "Water 360 degrees. For a boat ramp camping site near town, this place is special. Remote from town but water 360 degrees. You can hear the ocean while looking at the towns across the water," says Mayumi H.
What campers like
Central location for exploration: Redwood Acres RV Park offers quick access to coastal attractions. "Located in the city limits mere minutes from just about anything you may need and very centrally located for many sea shore and forest park locations. Some nearby attractions include Eureka Historic District with many beautifully maintained Victorian Homes," writes Michael W.
Full hookups with clean facilities: Widow White Creek RV Park maintains clean grounds with family-friendly amenities. "Grounds were clean with plenty of room for families and children to play, though at the time we stopped here in December, it was pretty quiet. $35," according to Rachel A.
Affordable casino parking with amenities: Blue Lake Casino provides reasonably priced overnight parking with additional benefits. "You have to be a member of the casino but it is free park your RV in the designated lot right behind their gas station and check in at players club office to gain free membership and free two nights stay. The lot can accommodate at least 15 units (5 are pull thru) and has a clean free dump station," reports Marie G.
What you should know
Site privacy varies significantly: Samoa Boat Ramp County Park offers minimal separation between sites. "The place is just a big parking lot, with some fire pits and a few tables at some of the sites. It's super loud there late into the night and absolutely nothing secluded about your site. People were walking through our area the whole night," warns Jethro G.
Reservation systems can be complicated: Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort has specific processes for booking. "The most frustrating part was reservations. The website showed only tent sites with water and electricity. I then clicked on military discount and the website showed me a higher price. I called and left a message to get clarification. No one called me back," notes Lawrence L.
Bathroom conditions fluctuate: Mad River Rapids RV Park maintains facilities with occasional issues. "Quiet, clean campground. Bathrooms fair (men's stall floor flooded with about 3" water👀). Women's ok. SUPER great Mexican restaurant at entrance of RV park-chicken tinga out of this world good," shares Nancy L.
Tips for camping with families
Open spaces for kids: check seasonal availability: Widow White Creek RV Park provides room for children to play. "Grounds were clean with plenty of room for families and children to play, though at the time we stopped here in December, it was pretty quiet," shares Rachel A.
Food options: on-site and nearby: Blue Lake Casino offers dining options within walking distance. "It was a nice treat to be able to walk from the RV to dinner. The casino has some good restaurants in it, and there are other options within walking distance as well. The casino has their own brewery, which was very cool, and the beer was delicious," mentions Laura M.
Safety considerations: monitor surroundings: Some areas near campgrounds require awareness. "You'll be camping 25 feet from the next guy. I had to turn my tent facing the fence because any other way people can look in. A little privacy would be nice in a place like this but you won't get it," cautions David F. about Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort.
Tips from RVers
Hookup reliability: check power capacity: Mad River Rapids RV Park offers multiple electrical options. "Park is fine, spots are level and fairly easy to get into... laundromat had a few working machines, grounds kept up," notes Peter A.
Dump station access: timing matters: Blue Lake Casino provides free dumping for overnight guests. "Great spot for overnighter! No showers available or toilets at the RV site. There was a free dump and rinse station. It was $11 for the night," shares Michelle.
WiFi connectivity: spotty in some locations: Shoreline RV Park offers variable internet connection quality. "Great WiFi, everything nice and clean, staff friendly...After hour check-in was easy. Good Sam Member discount is a plus. Sites are close together. If you don't mind that it's a good place to stay for the night," recommends Kirsten.
