These are beautiful sites overlooking the Tule River, which runs right through our property. All sites are well spaced, offering exceptional privacy and access to multiple day-use spots along the river. Rope-assisted steps allow access the river and are just feet away from your camp site. The Tule River runs year-around and offer some of the most spectacular vistas in the Giant Sequoia National Monument. Sites are ideal for small backpacking tents and medium-sized family tents and gear.

Located in the southern Sierra Nevada mountains on the land of the Yokut people and bordering the Giant Sequoia National Monument, this 12-acre homestead (known simply as the Land) stretches along both sides of the Tule River and offers exceptional camping and outdoor experiential events.

The habits and vision of owner Donald McMillan reflects the Land's beauty and pristine natural habitats, inspiring daily living practices that value nature. The Land is his home and headquarters for organizing events that change the world and mindset of communities regarding respect for nature and preservation of culture and art. The Land is nestled in Blue oak woodland and riparian (river) habitat in the foothills of the Giant Sequoia National Monument and offers the ultimate in privacy and completely dark night skies for perfect star-gazing.

We offer the listed campsites here plus gorgeous outdoor venues tailored for small-scale special events and featuring a covered outdoor kitchen and BBQ area, outdoor living and bedroom spaces, fireplaces and fire pits and two outdoor showers. It is rustic and best suited for minimum impact camping for those with camping experience or who may be on their first outting. Reach us for special event hosting.

All visitors must register online at www.wildplaces.net to receive details, directions, and a liability waiver to sign. We ask each member of a visiting group to complete this online waiver.

Toilets are composting or chemical and the hotwater shower is tucked inside the majestic canopy of a Live Oak tree. The toilets are located near the house which is a 5 minute walk or less from most sites.

Use your own camp stoves and opt to stay clear of the house entirely for maximum seclusion.

You provide tents, tent footprint (tarp), lights, sleeping bags, food, insect repellant, camp stove and other stuff. There is an outdoor, hot water shower. NO SOAP of ANY KIND IN THE RIVER. CARRY WASH WATER 10 FEET AWAY From THE RIVER.



Camp or Glamp along the Tule River next to the Giant Sequoia National Monument

Tule Campground is located at Success Lake in the Sierra Nevada foothills just 8 miles east of Porterville, California. A variety of outdoor recreational activities abound, including boating, kayaking and fishing. Recreation The lake provides great opportunities for boating and swimming. Kayaking the lake's quiet, unpopulated coves is a favorite activity. Anglers fish for bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill and the occasional trout. Facilities The campground is open year round and offers 103 sites, several of which have electric hookups. Flush toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station are provided. Playgrounds and boat ramps are located on-site. Campfire programs are presented at the amphitheater on Saturdays from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. Campground gates are closed from 10p.m. to 6 a.m. Natural Features Success Lake, when full, covers 82,500 acre-feet of water with a surface area of 2,450 acres. One acre-foot is equal to 325,872 gallons of water! The campground sits on the northeastern shore of the lake, in an area dotted with sparse stands of trees. Shade is limited, but springtime wildflowers bloom on the surrounding foothills, creating a beautiful display of color. ADA Access: N

Tule Campground

While on a family backpacking excursion through Sequoia King’s Canyon National Park, and the surrounding area, we came across this charming campground. A long-forgotten chapel in the mountains that was formerly a summer camp.

From here, a short 15-20 minute drive will take you directly to the main entrance of Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park for access to the Giant Sequoias at Grant Grove and the Grant Grove Village. For those who prefer to travel off the beaten path, a short 30-minute hike will take you to the National Forest.

We are excited to invite you to camp at this hidden gem, while we undertake to restore the campground to its original splendor.

Easy drive to available parking, with easy access and pull through drive for any vehicle, even with trailers. For campers bringing their own tents, we provide beautiful sites with level ground, soft grass, tucked underneath the many old-growth trees.



The Mountain Chapel Campground

A picturesque RV park and campground awaits you and your loved ones just above Springville, CA. Located in the Sequoia National Forest and the Giant Sequoia National Monument, you will find endless places to explore and things to do. Or, you can just enjoy the abundance of nature right outside your door while you reconnect and relax with family and friends. Weather permitting, the park is open until an abundance of snow.

COE Success Lake Tule Campground

The Tule Campground has 103 sites and is open year-round. Each site has a parking spur, table, fire pit, and grill. Conveniently located restrooms provide flush toilets and showers.

A maximum of eight people and two vehicles are allowed per site. Also note that camping is limited to 14 days in any 30-day period. Campfire programs are presented in the Tule Recreation Area every Saturday from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

The Flood Control Act of 1944 authorized the Richard L. Schafer Dam/Success Lake project for flood control and water supply. This multipurpose facility also provides hydropower and the public land and water is managed for wildlife habitat and recreation opportunities. Construction of the earth-filled dam was completed in 1961. It spans 3,490 feet across the Tule River and is 142 feet high. When full, the lake holds 82,000 acre feet of water with a surface area of 2,450 acres.

Success Lake is in Tulare County approximately 8 miles east of Porterville, California. The western foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains provide a scenic location with State Highway 190 as the primary access route. This highway connects the project with State Highway 99, a major north-south corridor, which is approximately 25 miles west of the lake. State Highway 190 also connects with State Highway 65, which affords access from Visalia and Bakersfield to Porterville.



Tule - Success Lake

The Sequoia National Forest, located at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada in central California, takes its name from the giant sequoia, the world's largest tree, which grows in more than 30 groves on the Forest's lower slopes. The Forest comprises about 1.1 million acres. Elevations range from about 1,000 to 12,000 feet, creating precipitous canyons and mountain streams with spectacular waterfalls such as Salmon Creek Falls near Fairview and Grizzly Falls on the Kings River. This remote campground is popular with hikers and people who want to tour the giant sequoias, including the Trail of a Hundred Giants. Recreation Activities in this remote area include hiking and touring giant sequoias. Trails in the monument, open to hikers, horses and bikes, wind through giant sequoia groves, up mountains, and alongside wild rivers. Plenty of hiking is offered nearby, including a wheelchair-accessible nature trail, the Trail of a Hundred Giants. Facilities This campground accommodates tents only and has 10 individual campsites. It is primitive with no available water. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring; vault toilets are available at the campground. This facility is operated by Sequoia Recreation, a division of California Land Management and comments are welcome; comment forms are available from campground hosts or online. Natural Features This primitive campground sits at an elevation of 6,400 feet southeast of Porterville, California, within the Giant Sequoia National Monument. It is a short drive to the the Trail of a Hundred Giants, through the Redwood or Long Meadow sequoia grove. Rivernook Campground is the biggest privately owned campground along a beautiful stretch of the Kern River, with creeks running through the park. We offer Full Hook Up RV sites, Partial RV sites and dry tent camping sites. We have full service newly remodeled restrooms for our guests at no charge, on site dump station, cable, WIFI and we have a little store that might have something you need!

## Overview

Redwood Meadow Campground located within Sequoia National Forest, in the southern portion of Giant Sequoia National Monument. The area is named for the giant sequoia, the world's largest tree, which grows in more than 30 groves on the forest's lower slopes.

## Recreation

Touring the Sequoia National Monument is the area's most popular activity. Hikers enjoy the Trail of a Hundred Giants as it wanders through the ong Meadow Giant Sequoia Grove. Other points of interest within the sourthern section include the Belknap Grove and the Freeman Grove.

## Facilities

Redwood Meadow offers 6 singles sites and 6 yurts which can accommodate up to 6 people. No hookups or water available. Vault toilets are provided. This facility is operated by Sequoia Recration, a division of California Land Management and comments are welcome; comment forms are available from campground hosts or online.
