      Glenn Trail Camp Campground

      Perfect for Bikepacking Novices

Access to this campground is so easy, whether it's by car or by bike. I have bikepacked here a couple times now; once biking up Highway 39 from Azusa (after taking the Metro Gold Line to Azusa), and once driving up the 39 with bikes and bags in the trunk.

The trailhead to the campground is impossible to miss, as it is marked by a large parking lot and a sign marked "Cogswell Dam". This campground is so perfect for bikepacking novices or those looking to do a gear check because it's an honest 6.5 miles of a relatively flat paved road. If you're trying to bike_fish_ (it's a thing), this road is lined with fishing platforms for all sorts of trout, as the road follows a river the entire way.

The campsite itself is relatively large, with two vault toilets and two bear-safe trash cans. There are at least 5 campsites with picnic tables The river lining the road to the campsite is very accessible, and is perfect as a water source, or washing camp dishes.

While bugs are an inevitable aspect of being outdoors, the biting gnats and/or mosquitos are very formidable in the summer. We had some "natural" bug spray that had little to no effect, so you might want to bring your bug repellant A-game if bugs bother you.

Overall this campground is near and dear to my heart as it was my first bikepacking experience. If you're looking to introduce a bunch of friends to bikepacking, or backpacking, bikefishing, fishpacking (?), then this is the place to do it.

      Waterfront RV Park

      Waterfront RV Park, CA

Located in Huntington Beach California. This site is right across the street from the beach. Be careful and aware when staying here. My husband and I had our mountain bikes stolen when sleeping. When we asked for camera footage the owners of the campground claimed the cameras were broken and they couldn’t share the footage. There are many homeless folks living in the area. The showers don’t get hot, but the area is clean. There is a pool and a hot tub and a small dog park. It’s expensive to stay here, but a beautiful spot.

      Hollywood RV Park

      Themed Park!

First of all, staff was amazing. We were originally supposed to arrive on a Tuesday and we’re not able to make it. Staff shifted our reservation instead of us eating the missed night cost. Also super accommodating allowing us to extend a day longer last minute. Park is tight quarters with 200 spots. Two laundry rooms/bathrooms with showers on site, plus a cute little dog park! We stayed for three nights. Every “road” in the park is themed with California or Hollywood themed decorations and murals. We were parked right next to a Mister Roger’s mural across from the laundry/bathrooms. My only complaint in the noise level at times which is not from the park itself. Helicopters would fly over randomly, sometimes at night and it could be annoying when trying to sleep. Otherwise, absolute GEM of a place!

Launch Pointe Recreation Destination and RV Park

      Nicest cleanest campground

I had site 126 in the fields, corner site and lake view. This campground has a pool, splash pad, park, dog park and access to the lake. They also have a band on Saturday nights. The only bad part is they strictly enforce quiet time at 10pm. I felt like a kid being told to go to bed. I feel like on weekends people should be able to stay up late in front of their camper with low voices. Shouldn’t be hounded night after night! That was my only complaint.

      Adelanto RV Park

RV park but accommodates one night

RV Park full of residence and full timers. Will accommodate one or more nights. Good place to recharge and do laundry. Everything looks mostly clean and the pool was nice too. Small dog park with real grass.

      Hare School Park

It’s the sports fields parking lot

I’ve been here for a couple days and nobody’s mess with us. There’s other people that are staying in another parking lot attached that are homeless in their vehicles mostly cars and vans. I’m in a 25 foot Fleetwood RV. There’s a dog park kind of area with a big field they can run around and just clean up after them. There’s no public bathrooms, but there are trash cans so clean up after yourself please. It’s not tent friendly. I don’t believe.

      Palm View RV Park

      This place is good

This is our 2nd time here it's quiet and they have the most interesting walkabout garden with little kickbacks where u can chill with whoever. If you don't have anybody walk on over next to the garden to find some nice goats and sheep and up on the little hill there's cute chickens of all whom can be pet as for they are all used to being pet. We bought some food that we feed them.

Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

    Guide to Azusa

Campgrounds near Azusa range in elevation from 3,200 to 6,000 feet, creating diverse microclimates across the Angeles National Forest terrain. Summer temperatures at higher elevations typically reach 75-85°F during day with nighttime drops to 45-55°F. Winter access to many sites becomes limited December through March when snowfall can close mountain roads.

    What to do

Horseback riding near lake access: At Bonelli Bluffs, campers can arrange trail rides or bring their own horses for day excursions. "I brought my horses one time and it was amazing the best time of my life... The views are incredible," reports Jessica P. from Bonelli Bluffs.

Mountain biking on forest trails: Angeles National Forest trails offer mixed terrain suitable for intermediate riders with elevation gains of 500-1500 feet. "There is camping, horseback riding, fishing, trails, biking, hiking, picnics... and plenty more," notes Jessica P. at Bonelli Bluffs.

Fishing with elevation options: Crystal Lake Recreation Area offers seasonal fishing (April-November) at 5,500 feet elevation. "There are a lot of sites here for camping unfortunately they are not all open for use. There are several hiking trails here that are well used and well maintained," shares Robert A. from Crystal Lake Rec Area Campground.

    What campers like

Proximity to Los Angeles: Most campgrounds near Azusa are within 45-90 minutes of LA, making them practical for weekend trips. "This is probably our favorite place to go considering we end up hear almost every other weekend year around... Also this campground is HUGE and many locations are rather secluded," writes Salem L. about Crystal Lake.

Mountain escape climate: Higher elevation sites provide relief from valley heat with temperature differences of 15-20°F. "We stayed here on Friday, July 21 2017... Cool temps at night," reports Forest G. at Crystal Lake.

Diverse terrain options: Buckhorn Campground sits at 6,300 feet in pine forest habitat distinctly different from lower elevation sites. "Beautiful campground. A little over 6000 feet up in the pine trees. The campground fills quickly for the weekend," explains Lauralyn J.

    What you should know

Seasonal fire restrictions: Angeles National Forest implements strict fire rules that change throughout the year. "Great place to get away! All basic amenities, no cell service so perfect getaway. Lots of hiking near by. First come first serve no reservations," notes Sarah S. about Buckhorn.

Wildlife encounters: Chilao Campground visitors report seeing black bears, deer, foxes and other wildlife. "ANIMALS SEEN: Black bear, deer (wandered through our site), red foxes, Stellar's Jays, woodpeckers, other birds," according to Forest G.

Campsite spacing varies significantly: "Campsites are well kept plenty of room to make you feel like your alone," reports Hanns B. about Chilao Campground, while Michael S. notes about Bonelli Bluffs: "Good camp ground if you like being 6 ft away from your neighbors. More of a group or community campground."

    Tips for camping with families

Accessible hiking for children: "Easy to get to, but fills up VERY fast. Open spaces for large group camping. Fire pits at every campground and easy to walk to hiking trail," writes Amy D. about Buckhorn Campground.

Playground facilities available: Prado Regional Park offers dedicated play areas for young campers. "Playground and splash pad kept the youngins entertained," reports Wilbur L.

Stream access for water play: "There's a stream that runs through. it's beautiful and feels completely isolated," says Morgan F. about Hoegees Trail Camp Campground, though water levels vary seasonally.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: "We chose Bonelli for our shakedown trip in our new trailer (first time RVers). SO quiet. Numerous residents, but spots are mostly keep up nicely. Our rental spot has 3 trees, a picnic table, a firepit, level parking(!) and full hookups," shares Aostara K.

RV size restrictions on forest roads: Some campgrounds have vehicle length limitations due to narrow, winding roads. "Good for small RVs. Over 24 foot not recommended," advises Lauralyn J. regarding Table Mountain Campground.

Full hookup availability: "A little pricey but very nice facility. All hookups 30/50 amp. Cable TV. There's a pool," Dennis B. comments about Bonelli Bluffs, one of the few pet friendly camping options near Azusa offering complete RV services.
