    Piney Point

    Nice clean COE campground

Nice well spaced sites with level concrete pads. Lots of trees for shade in most sites. Beautiful views from the sites on the bluff. It has been quiet every time we were there . Playground ,boat ramp , nice clean showers and rest room. the staff has always been helpful. Most sites are water and electric but there may be some with full hookups . If not , there is a dump station . Very family friendly . No swimming area , but at my age that is not a big deal.

    Cossatot River RV Park

    Quiet, cozy, small rv park

We liked our week long visit here.. It was off the beaten path. Very quiet and peaceful. It seemed most people were gone during the day, maybe working. We explored the state park down the road and went on some fun drives. Easy pull through sites with full hook up. Dog friendly (I think) but there weren't any dogs running loose. There are also a couple cabins in the back it looked like.

**This rv park is not in walking distance to the Cossatot River

    Cowhide Cove Campground

Really nice small campground at OLD Cowhide Cove

This is to update my previous post. We are now in the Old Cowhide Cove Campground. We have a beautiful spot backed up to the lake with a wonderful view. There are two widely separated camping areas: New Cowhide Cove and Old Cowhide Cove. We ae in OLD Cowhide Cove so this review is specific to that area. Very adequate campsites are well spaced with picnic table, fire ring., 50 amp electric and water. There is a well situated dump station right on the way out. Even though the sites are long enough for most rigs, there is a paved parking area between most sites. Old Cowhide Cove Campground is a small area with only a few sites--a plus for me.

I highly recommend this campground. The unreasonably late check-in time is a responsibility of the COE. There was no one to check us in which was no problem for us as we had advanced reservations and an assigned site which was easy to find and presented no difficulty in backing in.

Texarkana RV Park & Event Center

    Great park, but tight spots.

Texarkana RV Park is a very nice, clean, and friendly RV park. They have a gated entrance for extra security. The park has nice amenities such as pool, playground, laundry, restrooms, dog run, and park-like setting with duck pond. Most sites are pull-thru and plenty long, but narrow. Beware of your slide placement before parking, as site poles may be in the way of a slide fully opening. Each site is gravel with a patio and they have 50 amp FHU. We enjoyed our stay at this campground and would definitely stay again. 👍🏻😊

DeGray Lake Resort State Park — De Gray State Park

    Very quiet and secluded CG

We have a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and stayed in site 12 for 1 night in mid September. The CG is clean and well maintained but showing its age. The CG roads are paved, but narrow, winding, and fairly bumpy in spots. Few if any of the sites in this section of the CG were anywhere close to level and our site, one of the few pull-throughs, was one of the worst, I mean seriously sloped even after ratcheting up the front levelers as far as they’d go. The CG is very quiet and peaceful. There was only one other camper in this section of the CG while we were there.

AT&T coverage was basically nonexistent with 1 bar of LTE service but very little if any throughput. The CG is heavily wooded, so Starlink was unusable.

    Cowhide Cove Campground

Quiet camping at Old Cowhide Cove

Old Cowhide Cove campground has 9 sites,  6 are well spaced, level sites spread out along a lake just inside the trees, remainder are placed upon the hill overlooking those sites.  Campground road is paved with gravel parking pads.  Each site has a picnic table, metal fire ring,  BBQ grill and a small table near the BBQ grill.  Plenty of room for a tent on the grass.  Sites have electric and water hook ups.  Cost is $20.  Campground has a restroom but no showers (showers can be found at the more modern New Cowhide Cove campground located on the other side of the lake from old cowhide).  Campground does have trash service and a dump station.  Their is also a small day use area available.

    Millwood State Park Campground

    Nice Park Overall

We are from TX and came to Arkansas for a wedding. This was my first out of state, state park so keep that in mind. The sites are clean and well cared for. There is exactly ONE pull through site that we were fortunate enough to get. The rest are on a tight road. The highway runs right by the pull through site so the road noise can be loud at times. I recommend staying by the lake if you don’t need a pull through site. There are 2 walking trails and a few playgrounds. No fishing off the pier. The lake is BEAUTIFUL, we saw an alligator (I was quite excited about that). The dump station is a pretty tight squeeze but doable if your site doesn’t have a dump (ours did). ATT cell service SUUUUCKS here. I repeat, it suuuuuucks lol! Picked up 4 TV channels on the 1 rainy day we had. All in all, I would stay here again, just wouldn’t compare it to TX State Parks, because well…. I learned this weekend everything is indeed bigger in Texas.

Guide to Washington

RV sites near Washington, Arkansas offer convenient access to historic sites and outdoor recreation in the southwest region of the state. Located approximately 145 miles southwest of Little Rock, this area features a mix of forested hills and open farmland with elevations ranging from 300-500 feet. Campers can expect hot, humid summers with temperatures often exceeding 90°F and mild winters with occasional freezing temperatures.

What to do

Diamond mining excursions: Murfreesboro RV Park serves as an excellent base for diamond hunting adventures at nearby Crater of Diamonds State Park. "This place has been great, we stayed for two nights and got to rent out equipment for free to go diamond mining and the woman on staff was very friendly," notes one visitor about Murfreesboro RV Park.

River activities: The Caddo River provides popular paddling opportunities for campers staying at nearby facilities. "The float is also so much fun and accessible for all ages! There's so much to see and the water actually moves instead of you having to paddle the whole way," reports a camper at Caddo River Access RV Park.

Fishing access: Several campgrounds offer direct access to fishing spots. "Nice Location near the lake. Away from center city but close enough if you need something," mentions a visitor about Forest Lake RV Park, which features a stocked fishing pond on the property.

What campers like

Well-maintained facilities: Many RV parks in the region receive positive feedback for their upkeep. "Very clean and very nice staff. Maria is just so adorable and helpful. Great park for an overnight stop," shares a guest at Sunrise RV Park in Texarkana.

Affordable options: Budget-conscious travelers appreciate reasonable rates at several campgrounds. "20.00 a night for two people in tent camping. I'm in van and they allowed me to van camp. Tent sites have electric," notes a visitor at Murfreesboro RV Park.

Proximity to attractions: Campers value locations that provide easy access to regional points of interest. "This is a great spot for a night, a week, or even longer! Full hook-up sites, super clean restrooms and showers, laundry room, and an outdoor pool," comments a camper at Arkadelphia Campground & RV Park, which offers convenient interstate access.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Summer heat can be intense, making spring and fall optimal camping seasons in this region. Humidity levels often exceed 80% during summer months.

Highway noise impacts: Several campgrounds in the area experience road noise due to proximity to major highways. "Be warned that the campsite is right off a highway bridge so a decent amount of traffic through at all times," cautions a camper at Caddo River Access RV Park.

Variable cell coverage: Mobile service fluctuates throughout the region. "Wi-Fi is spotty and could not connect in the B section," reports a visitor at Sunrise RV Park, though many campgrounds offer alternative connectivity solutions.

Site spacing variations: Campground layouts differ significantly across the region. "Campsites are small and close together but very well kept. Grills, fire Rings, and picnic tables available," notes a camper at Caddo River Access RV Park.

Tips for camping with families

Swimming options: Several campgrounds feature swimming facilities to help families cool off during hot weather. "They have a pool and very clean bathhouse and laundry facility," mentions a camper at Arkadelphia Campground & RV Park.

Budget-friendly activities: Many area attractions offer affordable options for family outings. "This is an awesome place to camp and get away without going too far! It is located a little south of central Arkansas so it's easily accessible to the whole state. It's also very affordable and has great amenities," shares a visitor at Caddo River Access RV Park.

Insect precautions: Prepare for encounters with various insects, especially during warmer months. "Got the popup all setup, then discovered there was a large wasp nest in the electric hookup box. Had to break down and move to another spot in the dark," warns a camper at Caddo River Access RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Access considerations: Approach some campgrounds cautiously with larger rigs. "Good spot to stay overnight. Sights were a little close together but very easy to access. Full hookups and close to a lot of restaurant. Only downside is there are several potholes on the entrance to the campground," advises a visitor at Texarkana RV Park.

After-hours arrival protocols: Some facilities accommodate late check-ins with simple procedures. "Great spot to stop right off the highway. Nothing fancy, but clean & everything was easy to navigate. Got there after hours, picked up an envelope to pay when we left & you can drop it in their office mail slot or mail it in," shares an RVer at Arkadelphia Campground & RV Park.

Utility reliability: Most RV sites near Washington, Arkansas offer dependable hookups, though quality varies by location. "The sites are large clean and all new full hookups," notes a camper about the renovated facilities at Arkadelphia Campground & RV Park.
