Great recreation area

This is a city campground that is part of Burns Park. The park complex has soccer, baseball& softball fields as well as tennis courts. There is also an equestrian and archery area. Boating, fishing, hiking, and biking are also a part of this park. The bathhouse looked like it had been recently built and was clean, although one of the two showers did not work. We had a W/E site, but I think there were FHU too. They did have wifi, but we never could get it to work, and our cell signal with Verizon was not great. We did have a picnic table and fire ring.

Not in the best area of town

Some sites have sewer hookup, all have water and electric. This campground is in an area of town that really isn’t the nicest. When I got to my campsite there was trash in the fire pit and in the grill. The sites are pretty close together. The campground manager was nice and helpful. There are trails and a park nearby. The bathrooms are very nice!

Lovely!

I enjoyed this campground! Right on the river, the sites are a good distance away from eachother, and there are a lot of sites so it wasn’t hard to find an open spot! My site (C7) is shaded by two large trees. Picnic table and water and electric hookup. No sewer.

Beautiful views year round

Large open campgrounds, nice playgrounds and beautiful campsites. Close, short bike ride!, to Pinnacle mountain park and Two Rivers parks to explore. If you’re coming to Central AR then you have to stay Maumelle park

Nice spot on the water!

We loved the view! Looked like a great place for kayaking/boats and fishing. There were water views on both sides of the campsites. More people than I expected to see on a Monday, but the campsites were a decent distance apart.

Nice spot along the river

This is a small and quiet campground during the week -- the day-use area next door may make the whole park busier on weekends

We were in Site F4 and it was a good spot for being not too far from the bathroom building but far enough away that it wasn't lit up at night by the building's obnoxiously bright outside lights. (The first few sites on that end get a lot of light pollution from the bathroom.)

All of the sites here are paved with asphalt or concrete and relatively level although a couple have a slope to them that may impact you more depending on the length of your rig. There is plenty of room here for rigs of all sizes.

The river is peaceful since it's more of a branch of the Arkansas River now than the main navigable area. The locals seem to love this spot for fishing -- that's not our thing so we can't confirm that. There is a boat ramp in the day-use area.

Note that the entire campground is a good hike to the dumpster and dump station, so keep that in mind for access to those. There is 20-, 30- and 50-amp service available in what appear to be newer, lighted power pedestals. There also is water on site and each one has a fire pit with cooking grate and a grill, as well as a stone picnic table. A few of the sites have pavilions over the tables, but most do not.

The bathroom building was constructed in 2019 and is well laid out. There are four individual units with toilet, sink, shower and baby changing station inside. The only real complaint we had was maintenance on the bathrooms. They are not always maintained well by the volunteer staff and we frequently found some of units were without toilet paper and none of them had any soap.

The whole park is pretty loosely run from what we could tell, which is nice if it's quiet. If you had any issues with neighbors or day-use folks causing an issue, we're not sure how you would have it addressed. There is a camp host, but they are parked up by the gate, which locked from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Again, we weren't here on the weekend, so this review is for weekday camping only, but we found it quite peaceful. Also, some reviews have mentioned a lot of bugs, but we didn't find any that were bothersome, perhaps because we were here when it was still a bit chilly.

The river is a nice view and you can see it from almost every campsite. We'd recommend a site on the river side if you can get one though.

Phone service was decent for Verizon and T-Mobile with reasonable speeds even though the signal jumped around 2-3 bars most of the time.

One bonus: if you like watching Air Force planes, you might catch the C-130 pilots training overhead as they come and go from the Little Rock AFB.

Convenient Overnight

We stopped in for a quick overnight stay and the location was convenient- which is what we love about KOA- but it wouldn’t be my top choice for a longer stay. The sites are definitely tight and amenities are very basic. We have a class A and flat tow so we needed a pull thru so we wouldn’t have to unhook for the one night. We stayed in site G4. It was tight and sloped on the far back end, but was fine for us. Would’ve been an issue if we did need to unhook for an emergency. Still, would stop here again for an overnight if needed.

Best place to stay to explore Little Rock

Great location, walkable to downtown. Good WiFi, great reception. All facilities like bathrooms and laundry are completely closed due to covid so make sure your tanks are empty, propane full, and clothes clean. Overall, we both thought this was a great and unique “campground” with full hook ups and a great price. It was nice to be parked in a place that didn’t require driving to explore.

Good option for “city” camping

General: Understandably, there are not many camping options in urban areas so Burns Park is a nice option. Although located in a city park, the campground is privately owned. Reservations are made by calling and the staff will assign you a spot.

Sites/Facilities: When we arrived, we found we had been assigned Site 7, which would have had us sandwiched between huge RVs with virtually no privacy for our campervan. We asked if we could switch and since it was a weekend, there was only one other option available – Site 43– so we took it. Site 43 is a wooded site with one site close by on one side but only trees on the other, so it suited us much better. There is a total of 44 sites, and they are varied: tent only, 30 amp/water/no sewer, 30 amp/water/sewer, 50/30 amp/water/no sewer, 50/30 amp water/sewer, and 50 amp/water/sewer. Some pads are paved, and some are gravel. Most are level but be aware that Site 45 is decidedly NOT level.

Bathhouse: There is one bath/shower house centrally located which requires a code to enter (although this was not activated all day Saturday). It was clean during our stay but there was no indication it had been cleaned while we were there (most people were in RVs and used their own facilities). There was plentiful water for the shower and the water pressure was ok.

Activities/Amenities: There are roads and trails (some paved and some not) in the park and I enjoyed a nice run to the covered bridge and then along the Arkansas River.

Conclusion: Whoever said this was a quiet campground, however, must have worn earplugs. It is located near I40 and you will hear road noise as well as occasional trains. My only other complaint is that the picnic table in our site had seen better days – it was old and saggy with lots of moss growing on it. But for a city option, this suited our needs for two nights of exploring the Little Rock area as well as Hot Springs.

Cute and wooded, well maintained

We just stopped as we are passing through. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Smaller campsites with lots of trees. Could use some updated picnic tables but not bad. The rest of the campground was well maintained. Looked like there was a lot to do for longer stays. I’d definitely use this place again.
