    Catherine's Landing

    Very Nice, Lots of Amenities

Catherine’s Landing is a great RV park with lots of amenities and things happening. This park is an RVC Outdoor Destination property which is known for their “resort” amenities. The park is set on 400 acres with one mile bordering Lake Catherine and about eight or nine miles from downtown Hot Springs.

All roads, sites and patios are paved and this is definitely a big rig-friendly park. Every site has water, 50/30 amp, sewer, cable, and wifi. Fire pits and picnic tables accompany all sites. There are a variety of sites ranging from waterfront back-in, pull-thrus, or interior back-in. Waterfront sites have a nice view of the lake from the back of the site and access for fishing. The park also has yurts and cottages (some of which are pet-friendly). Adjacent to the yurts is a nice, large covered picnic area with grills, a dish washing station.

Lots and lots of amenities here. Hiking trails, swimming pool, fitness center, lounge, playground, dog park, zip-line, boat rental, boat launch, store, and disc golf. Some amenities (boat rentals and zip-line) are an extra charge.

Hot Springs is a nice little town nestled in the Ouachita Mountains with interesting history and natural beauty. We found plenty to do from hiking the National Park to learning about the bathhouse history to discovering the gangster influence. We spent four nights and could have stayed longer with all that the town offers. Most people come here to bathe in the soothing warm mineral waters but there is also a horse racetrack, science museum, off road track, water/theme park, alligator farm, and a few museums. Hot Springs National Park has miles and miles of great hiking trails and a great place to spend an afternoon. The town of Hot Springs is very dog-friendly and we found many places that would allow them in and on the patio for lunch.

    Pros:

    • Very nice, clean, well-manicured
    • Lots of amenities
    •  Paved level sites with paved patios
    • The dog park was a decent size for running and mingling with other dogs
    • The hiking trail(about 3 miles) was a big plus and got used a lot.

    Cons:

    • Price. We booked late and didn’t have too many sites to choose from we had to pay for a waterfront site

Petit Jean State Park — Petit Jean State Park

    Fantastic State Park

Camped here on May 1, 2025. This is one of my favorite state parks in the USA. Lots to do here. Fantastic hiking trails - rated from easy to difficult. Since I live only 45 minutes from this park, I normally come here for the day for hiking. This time, I got around to trying out the park's campground. This popular campround is divided into 4 areas - A through D. There are a total of 125 campsites, including 26 pull-through sites. Thirty-five of the sites are Class AAA sites which have 50 amp electrical, water, and sewer hookups. There are 90 Class B sites offering 30 amp electrical and water hookups. All sites are reservable. Tent and hammock camping is possible depending on the sites. I camped at site 103 in Area D. The staff at the office helped me pick this site for my campervan. The site had water and 30amp service. The restroom/shower house was clean and well maintained. The campsite itself was dated but clean. The site was large and had trees around it offering a little bit of privacy. The pull-thru drieway was close to the campground road. The site included a picnic table, tent pad, lantern pole, metal fire ring, and grill. Solar charging and Starlink connectivity may not be possible at this site; Area C has an open sky above it. There was some road noise from vehicles driving on Petit Jean Mountain Road which is behind the site. Received good AT&T 5G cell service, but little to no T-Mobile 2G service.  Areas C and D are in the woods. Most of the sites in these areas are on the small size but should easily accomodate a truck camper and smaller. Not all sites are level. Areas A and B can accomodate large rigs and towables.

    Leisure Landing RV Park

    Don't Bother

Gravel parking lot with painted stripes, a patch of grass growing under the picnic table, and full hookups. Be sure to back in centered, others are complaining about hitting their slide outs. Watch your step. One of the long-term residents isn't picking up their dog waste. The nicest spot in the whole place is the little fenced-in dog spot overlooking the canal that makes its way out to the lake you can't see from here.

    Red River RV Park

    Nice clean, small RV park

Nice clean, small RV park at Highway 67/167 and CW Road in Judsonia, one exit north of the Searcy Race Street exit. 30 spaces total with 3 pull through sites. No internet or laundry on-site but the electrical set up is good. Water and sewer are in good locations but the water connection box was holding water during our stay. Daily, weekly, or monthly rates available. My Verizon LTE hotspot averaged between 5 and 10 Mbps down and 0.8 to 1.6 up. My Verizon 5g phone averaged 75 to 85 Mbps down and 28 to 35 Mbps up. One of my neighbors was on a T-mobile 5g hotspot and was consistently over 50 Mbps download.

    Downtown Riverside RV Park

    Unique RV Experience

At first entrance it appears as if you are entering a large parking lot. There is a large pavilion to picnic and pet area by the water. Each site requires a 50 amp but the office will offer one for purchase if you need a 50 to 30 amp connections. The center lot is for pull through sites the other site areas non-pull through by water and fence. The fence area is close to the bridge but could be limited with views since it is far away from the water and Class A frequent area.

    Two things I love:

    1. The unique downtown riverside views
    2. The ease of getting to this RV park even though it is downtown Little Rock.

    H&G RV campground

    We really liked it!

An overnight stop on our route. Gary was great, most helpful and it was a pleasure talking with him. This is a rather small campsite and I recommend advanced reservations. Two pull through sites that do not have sewer hookups but there is a dump station if needed. Electrical hookups are 50 amp so have an adapter if you need 30 amp service. I’d certainly recommend it.

Gulpha Gorge Campground — Hot Springs National Park

    Beautiful, clean, great location

Beautiful, clean, great location. Camped here in Feb 2020, right on the river. Full hookups, mostly back-in but some pull throughs. Paved, level. Tent sites, too. Clean bathrooms, little camp store. Close to town. Would camp again.

    Hot Springs National Park KOA

    Clean with a dog park

D26 Back-in full hook-ups, fire ring & picnic table. 2 nights - Memorial Day weekend. Good spot, close to bath rooms/shower house/cafe. Pretty level - just 1 leveling block was all we needed for our pop-up. Lots of amenities- cafe, fishing pond, small general store, playground and off leash dog area. Staff was very friendly. Escorted you to your spot and helped us back in. Shower house was always clean. Loved the dog park! We are just starting to travel with our 2 boxers and was so nice to have an area for them to run a bit. Cons - spots are very close, no privacy. Each spot has a very bright “porch” light that is on until Midnight

Hot Springs Arkansas Finish Line RV Park Walk to Oaklawn and Bathhouse Row

    Nice little park

This is a nice little gated park. Close to the national park in Hot Springs Arkansas. And right next door to the flat track/casino. It’s pretty new, but not really any extra amenities. 20/30/50 amp full hookups. Concrete pads, and paved streets. Laundry and bath house. Inexpensive. We’d definitely stay here again!

Guide to Maumelle

Maumelle, Arkansas offers several camping options along the Arkansas River and nearby waterways. Located just northwest of Little Rock in central Arkansas, the area experiences mild winters and hot summers with average temperatures ranging from 30°F in January to 93°F in July. Many campgrounds in this region provide convenient water access with fishing opportunities for catfish, bass, and crappie.

What to do

Fishing at waterfront sites: Willow Beach campground provides direct water access. "Willow Beach is small, remote, and quiet. Situated between the Arkansas River and Willow Lake, every site is waterfront," notes camper Jeff R. The water hyacinths bloom seasonally, creating picturesque views.

Visit downtown Little Rock: Take advantage of the pedestrian bridge from Downtown Riverside RV Park for easy access to city attractions. "You can take a walking bridge across the river directly into downtown Little Rock," shares Richard S. The weekly farmers market is particularly popular during summer months.

Wildlife watching: Tar Camp offers excellent bird watching opportunities along the Arkansas River. "So happy to find a site right on the river. We could watch the tug boats with their barges go by," reports Angela G. Morning hours provide the best wildlife spotting opportunities.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Camp Conway RV Park offers generous spacing between campsites. "Wide-open layout, outside of town, quiet, full-hookups. Camp Conway is quiet with excellent bird-watching. Must have seen 12 bird varieties thriving in the park," writes Burt, highlighting the natural setting.

Clean facilities: Sweet Escape RV Resort maintains exceptionally clean restrooms. As Alex L. describes, "The bathrooms are the cleanest that I have seen in a campground/RV park they clean them daily. In the winter they have complementary hot chocolate and a 15 ft Christmas tree!"

Level camping pads: Several campers note the flat, well-maintained sites. "The sites are extremely level! I didn't even need to level my pop-up camper!!" shares Jo E. about Willow Beach. Most sites include concrete or gravel pads that remain stable even after rain.

What you should know

Seasonal closures: Not all rv sites near Maumelle, Arkansas operate year-round. Tar Camp runs seasonally from March through October, with occasional unscheduled closures. "Great place nice sites good fishing they have been repairing since it flooded they told me it would open up in March 2021," notes Steve S.

Wildlife considerations: Snake encounters are reported at some waterfront campgrounds. "We encountered lots of snakes. I shooed a few off the road and they disappeared as soon as they slithered into the grass, so to me it's pretty risky walking around or letting kids play in the grass," warns Jennifer C.

Insect preparation: Mosquitoes can be intense at riverside camping areas during warm months. "It is near water so there are a lot of mosquitos, so come prepared," advises Kelly E. Bug spray is essential equipment for camping near Maumelle from April through October.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Willow Beach has a playground for children, though availability may vary. "Nice playground but it was taped off during our stay due to covid," mentions Jennifer C. Call ahead to confirm playground status before booking.

Dog-friendly options: Sweet Escape RV Resort accommodates pets with a dedicated area. "Many amenities including laundry, bathhouse, very nice showers, and large dog park," reports Jessie J. Most campgrounds require pets to remain leashed at all times.

Security features: Some campgrounds implement nighttime security measures. "They lock a gate every night at the entrance to the campground, however they do give you the code to the padlock," explains Jennifer C. about Willow Beach, providing added safety for families.

Tips from RVers

City camping conveniences: For RVers wanting city access, Downtown Riverside RV Park offers full hookups at reasonable rates. "Full hookup (sewer, water, 50 AMP), concrete, level pads, overlooks the Arkansas River, large pavilion, gated RV park, easy access to downtown Little Rock AR," summarizes Beth R.

Site sizes and accessibility: Larger motorhomes and fifth wheels should confirm campground compatibility. "50 Amp electric, water no sewer hook up but dump station. Spaced spread out not crowded," reports Rod A. about Willow Beach. Camp Robinson RV Park cannot accommodate big rigs despite offering electric, water and sewer hookups.

Extended stay options: Camp Conway RV Park welcomes both short and long-term visitors. "Campground is friendly to monthly guests as well as nightly," notes Burt. Weekly rates at several area campgrounds average $130-150, with monthly discounts available.
