      RARE FIND - Beautiful Park

RARE FIND Such a BEAUTIFUL place! I love all the oak trees and the sounds of nature are so relaxing. They offer a spacious dog park, which the dogs are currently playing at while I relax and take in nature. If you are looking for a small piece of nature where you can get way from it all but still be close to town, this place is it. Everyone here is friendly and the shared spaces are always very clean.

They offer great rates and a Military Discount too!!

      Enjoy your stay!

      Outdoor Living Center RV Park

Cool place on some hot days

Spent three nights. Called for reservations, very receptive owners no problems getting in. I was running late due to the distance. They called to check on us and left instructions in a box at the office with site number, WiFi, bath codes. Again very nice owners. Went in the next morning to settle bill. Office is stocked with a nice assortment of things that an RV owner might need for minor repairs. Camp site was pretty level, spacing is typical for a campsite built some years ago, but we had a site on the end so we didn’t feel too close to anyone. Owners have only had the campground for two years. Was told the water connections were their next priority. Connections are a little inconvenient due to being under ground level, but no problem connecting my water filter for my 5th wheel. Dog park was a short walk away, was clean. Campground was clean, dumpsters accessible for trash and area clean around them. We would be happy to stay there again.

      Long Pool Recreation Area

      Swimming hole perfection

Tent campers have the better camping loop at this campground, closer to the water, nicer sites, most with plenty of trees for shade. You can drive up to the less attractive and less conveniently located RV loop to use the showers, if you need them. Some campsites are just a football-field distance from the rocky swim beach, while others sit either nestled in the woods or overlooking the creek from above on a small bluff. The big draw is the charming swimming area with its imposing trio of rocks that swimmers love to jump off of. Pets are not permitted around or in the water, so we prefer to leave our dog at home when visiting here. Hiking from the campground is terrific, too, particularly when the water is flowing to make waterfalls. Long Pool is a must-visit camping destination for Arkansas residents.

      Grape Country RV Park

      Great Country Setting

Simple, but nice.  No frills.  Quiet.  If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet place, away from the city, this is a great place. I love it. Have stayed several times in several different sites.  Will stay again.  About 13 campsites, all gravel.  Has a wooded trails for walking and a big open are for walking and playing with pets.  Water, sewer and 30/50amp electric are easy access and to hook up.   James the owner is great and has a U-Pick orchard as well.

      Blue Heron Campground

      Some nice amenities, some lacking.

My wife and I camped here for four nights. Overall it was nice, but there were some things that I wish we knew. The location is great in the sense that it’s easy to get to and it’s laid out well. Unfortunately, it’s directly under an overpass and it is loud- loud enough that I used ear plugs at night.

It’s located on the White river and has a very nice gravel boat ramp, which is a big positive. It also has fishing access during low water.

The WiFi is excellent and the staff are super helpful and friendly.

The biggest plus for us is the bathrooms were among the best that we have found. They’re clean and fairly new.

There is plenty of property to walk and they were very pet friendly. It looks like many of the guests are long term residents.

    Guide to Deer

Dispersed camping opportunities in the Ozark Mountains near Deer, Arkansas offer rugged terrain at elevations ranging from 1,000 to 2,500 feet. The region features limestone bluffs, dense hardwood forests, and clear-running creeks that feed into the Buffalo National River. Summer temperatures can reach 95°F with high humidity, while fall brings cooler nights in the 40s and vibrant foliage.

    What to do

Waterfall exploration: Free access at Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area where visitors can enjoy swimming holes and cascades. "The water was beautiful, eating dinner by the falls has become one of my new favorite camping memories in arkansas," shares layla B. The falls area is particularly scenic after rainfall but can experience flooding.

Rock climbing: Technical routes at Sam's Throne Recreation Area for climbers of various skill levels. "Road is kinda sketchy on the way up but the bluffs are fantastic!" notes Clayton R. The area attracts weekend crowds of climbers taking advantage of numerous routes on the rocky outcroppings.

Trail hiking: Multiple access points to scenic vistas and wildlife observation areas. "I'm glad I found this campground. Quiet and clean. Several waterfalls in the area to explore," reports Josh B. about Haw Creek Falls. Most trails range from moderate to difficult with elevation changes and rocky terrain.

    What campers like

Privacy between sites: Natural separation at Steel Creek Campground despite the open field layout. "The sites along the treeline were just a minute's walk down to the river," mentions one reviewer. Sites 16-24 typically offer the best balance of accessibility and privacy.

River proximity: Direct water access for fishing, wading and cooling off during hot summer days. "Great spot to camp, fills up fast on fridays!" warns Ace R. about Kyles Landing Campground. Most river-adjacent sites offer fire rings and picnic tables.

Wildlife viewing: Regular deer sightings throughout many campgrounds in the region. "Saw a lot of deer in the forest right next to our site and in the field next over," reports Samantha W. about Steel Creek Campground. Early morning and dusk provide optimal wildlife observation times.

    What you should know

Road conditions: Steep access roads to many river campgrounds require careful driving. "The road is steeply inclined and bumpy," warns a visitor to Kyles Landing. While 4x4 isn't always required, small cars and large RVs may struggle, especially after rain.

Water availability: Bring your own water to certain locations. "Something really important to note though is that there is NO WATER!! Bring your own water in to avoid making a half an hour trip to the nearest gas station!!" advises Samantha W. about Haw Creek Falls.

Bathroom facilities: Varying conditions at pet-friendly campgrounds. "The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting and full of trash," reports layla B. about one location, while others note well-maintained facilities. Availability ranges from vault toilets to flush toilets depending on location.

    Tips for camping with families

Choose sites with swimming holes: Kids enjoy cooling off in accessible water areas. "Fun campground, not exactly remote but private enough. Swimming area is fantastic, a much needed relief after a hot day of hiking!" reports Samantha W. about Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area.

Look for dog-friendly campgrounds near Deer with spacious sites: Families with pets need room to set up. "This isn't exactly remote, but it's well developed without being overdone, with spacious plots. I think this would be a great area for families," shares David S. about Haw Creek Falls.

Be prepared for limited cell service: Most dog-friendly areas have minimal connectivity. "It was clean, taken care of, had restrooms, tables, and firepits at several sites... Secluded, need bug spray, worth the ride out but no cell service at all!" explains Dawn G.

    Tips from RVers

Concrete pad availability: Buffalo Outdoor Center offers level sites for easier setup. "Easy to find, park and setup. Very large concrete pads to set up RV. Very clean bathhouse/restroom," notes Shiela R. The center sits atop a mountain with panoramic views.

Limited large rig options: Most dog-accommodating campgrounds have size restrictions. "Private camping spots, with trees separating each site. There's fit pits, but no rv hook ups and only a couple bathrooms there. It is considered a national park spot so it's not set up for rv, but if your van or rv is self standing is perfect!!" explains Kelsey R. about Sam's Throne Campground.

Campground layout considerations: Some campgrounds have unusual arrangements. "The campground was friendly. Not much room to spread out. Its pull through sites two trailers per pull through. If you sit out in chairs by your camper you'll be looking into your neighbors camper," warns Tyler S. about Dogwood Springs Campground.
