Best RV Parks & Resorts near Warrior, AL

RV parks around Warrior include Palomino RV Resort, Thousand Trails Hidden Cove, and Hoover Met Complex RV Park. Palomino features concrete pads with full 50-amp hookups and is located just off Interstate 65 at exit 305. Thousand Trails Hidden Cove provides spacious gravel sites with full hookup capabilities on Lewis Smith Lake. "This is a spacious campground and easy to navigate even with a big rig," noted one camper about Hidden Cove. Hoover Met Complex offers pull-through sites with full hookups in a stadium parking lot setting, providing easy access for larger motorhomes and fifth wheels.

Cell service varies significantly between parks, with Hidden Cove having particularly weak reception. One reviewer mentioned that "Verizon signal is very sketchy, and non-existent depending on where you are in the campground," though paid WiFi is available. Most parks remain open year-round, with summer bringing higher occupancy rates. Dump stations are available at most locations, and pet policies differ between parks. Country View RV Park offers more economical rates but with fewer amenities and tighter spacing between units. For big rigs, both Palomino and Hoover Met provide level concrete pads that require minimal site preparation upon arrival.

    Boaz RV Park

Cheap rates, and a great location.

This is a small rv park located in Boaz Al, its just down the street from the Boaz police station so its nice and quiet. They don't have a lot of amenities like pools, or playgrounds but its great if you just need a cheap place to stay. As of this review its $20 a night for either a 30 or a 50 amp hookup along with water and sewer. The monthly rates are $400 for 30 amp sites and $500 for 50 amp sites.

    Corinth Recreation Area

    Perfectly Designed for RV Newbies!

Loved this park! It was our first trip in our new Travel Trailer and it couldn't have gone better. We stayed at Yellow Hammer site #9 easy pull through with plenty of room. Not only did all the sites have amazing scenery but the roads were well maintained. Full hookups and AT & T cellphone coverage good enough for working from Trailer. Verizon cellphone coverage didn't work here. Each site fully equipped with fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. Wood available for purchase from host.

Beach & Bath houses were closed due to COVID-19

We spent a lot of time walking with our kids on the trails and riding scooters around the campsite roads. Nature trails were extremely well kept with great views on the water

Best site is Yellow Hammer #17

Lakeside Landing RV Park & Marina

    One and done

The view is fantastic if you are lakeside- but it stops there. Most rentals are along one row and a couple of the lakeside sites. Sites are very unleveled with minimal gravel but almost all have a 6x9 concrete pad. No pool, no fire rings, spotty wifi and frequent brown outs on power. Both shower points smell horrible but appear clean otherwise. Lots of long-term vehicles. People are friendly and pets are welcome.

    Cherokee Campground

More of a Long Term Living Area

Most of the pads were filled with long-term residents. The owners were very nice. The rate was reasonable. Our gravel pad was not wide enough to be a) level and b) slide/awning out at the same time. The electric hook-up was at the opposite end of the pad from the water and sewer hook-ups. Some neighbors were friendly, others were a bit suspicious of us as interlopers based on how many times they walked past our area. Overall, would only stay again in a pinch.

    Clear Creek Cove RV Resort

Long term camping with a family atmosphere

This is a great campground that has ONLY long term camping so you really get to know your neighbors. The power is not included but the prices are very reasonable.

Our lot is spacious, gravel pad with a cement patio.

At the regular campground, there’s only 30amp connections. Some have sewer and some not. There is no camp wifi. Swimming is quit a distance from campground.

The campground at the stables are pull through and 50 amp and full hookups.

Noccalula Falls Park & Campground - TEMPORARILY CLOSED

    nice but cramped

we stayed in a tent site in dec '22'' , the sites are very close together and the tent  site we were on hardly had enough space for our 3 person backpacking tent . there are fire pits, grills, and tables available on each site as well as water  . we appreciated the security gate and extremely clean and heated bathhouses with showers . the park has a nice playground and a pool we were unable to try during the winter months .  the campground is very close to town and as so expect alot of noise from traffic

    Thousand Trails Hidden Cove

    Bring your boat

This RV park is right on a lake, but a bit away from anything else. If you have any sort of boat, kayak, paddle board, bring it! There is hiking about an hour away at the Bankhead National Forest.

You can pick your spot when you arrive. I like that.

A and B sections are the original sections. C section is brand new with 50 amps hookup. All the big rigs there.

I was on C74 with a great backyard overlooking the hills.

Bathhouse is brand new and squeaky clean. You can see that almost no-one uses the campground shower because one of them doesn’t have a curtain to separate your dry clothes from the water. And neither of them have a caddy or any spot where you can put your soap.

Pool was not open when I was here in April which was a shame. It was hot enough. I would have enjoyed a swim, especially so we there is not much else to do. I don’t have a boat yet. 🙁

    A decent Thousand Trails campground.

I had no reception with Verizon but my AT&T hotspot had good reception.

    Rickwood Caverns State Park Campground

The cave is the star attraction

This is a very small campground- 13 improved sites (nine of these have 50 amp electric and can accommodate all sizes of rigs; four are designed for smaller units and have 30 amp electric) plus five primitive sites, which have communal water only (no electric). There is zero privacy/separation between the improved sites, which would make the unimproved sites possibly more appealing (but further from the restroom and it was pouring when we were there). Improved sites are gravel and include a BBQ, fire ring, and a very large picnic table. Rates are $16 for a primitive site/$29 for an improved site plus a $4.75 processing fee for the first night of your stay. Senior discounts are given.

The restrooms are functional and clean but basic. There was a leak in the roof from the pouring rain that could pose a slipping hazard.

There are a large picnic pavilion and two short hiking trails of about a mile each. We hiked the Fossil Mountain trail, which is very rocky. The main draw to this park is the cave. Tours are offered four times daily, January through November. If you camp, you receive a discount on the tour. The tour is worth doing.

Guide to Warrior

RV camping near Warrior, Alabama offers access to Lewis Smith Lake and Logan Martin Lake, both within 30 minutes of town. The area sits between the Appalachian foothills and the Coosa River Valley, with most campgrounds situated at elevations of 450-700 feet. Summer temperatures typically reach 90°F with high humidity, while spring and fall provide more moderate camping conditions.

What to do

Fishing on Smith Lake: Thousand Trails Hidden Cove provides direct lake access for anglers. "You must check out the nature bridge nearby as well as the Houston jail. Sites were large and bathrooms were very clean," notes Nathan W., who recommends exploring historical sites in the area.

Boating from lake-adjacent sites: Greensport RV Park and Campground offers convenient water access. "Located in Ashville, Al, Greensport is a jewel of a place to get away and enjoy the beauty of Alabama. It sits on Lake Neely Henry and spreads across many acres," reports JR Z., who visited during the park's expansion.

Hiking in Bankhead National Forest: The national forest offers waterfall trails within 40 minutes of Warrior. "This is a great little campground tucked away on the edge of Bankhead National Forest. The location makes it an excellent location to enjoy the numerous waterfall hikes in the area," explains Jennifer H. about Bama Campground.

What campers like

Clean, modern facilities: Hoover Met Complex RV Park maintains well-kept facilities despite its parking lot setting. "Super easy to get in and out. Easy hooks ups and good WiFi available. Playground and rock climbing area a plus," writes Chris G., highlighting amenities beyond the RV sites.

Spacious sites with lake views: Campers appreciate the room to spread out at lakeside properties. "Big campground. Great guest service. Staff friendly. Spots are very big and a good distance between them. Full hookup sites," reports Milagros B. about Hidden Cove, noting the privacy between sites.

Quiet, peaceful atmosphere: The rural setting provides a tranquil escape. "This place is great if you like peace and quiet. Its in the middle of the country side near Bankhead Forest. The campground is nice," states Steve T. about Bama Campground & RV Park, emphasizing its natural surroundings.

What you should know

Variable cell service: Connectivity differs dramatically between parks. "I had no reception with Verizon but my AT&T hotspot had good reception," explains Mara S. about Hidden Cove. Many campgrounds offer WiFi, but reliability varies by location and distance from access points.

Seasonal considerations: Summer brings high occupancy and humidity. "Very hot, humid and rainy time of year! Would be back in the fall perhaps," advises Nick & Allyssa S., suggesting better camping conditions later in the year.

Distance from amenities: Bama Campground & RV Park and other rural sites require planning ahead. "Nearest Walmart is Cullman which is 45 mins away. Wouldn't recommend staying here if you prefer to be closer to the city," notes one reviewer, highlighting the trade-off between natural settings and conveniences.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly facilities: Look for campgrounds with recreational options. "We stayed close to the park, mini golf, and horse shoes since we have a child," shares Kara S. about Hidden Cove, though she notes some playground equipment needed maintenance.

Swimming options: The Cove RV Resort offers a clean pool for families. "There is a nice pool and fishing pond," mentions Judy H., noting these amenities provide entertainment for children during hot weather.

Playground access: Several parks feature play areas for younger campers. "Equipped with bathhouse, laundry room, club house, nice playground and more!" writes Jason E. about Hidden Cove's family amenities.

Tips from RVers

Level sites: Concrete pads at some parks require minimal setup time. "Nice concrete pads, park is ran very well by the city...clean and organized campground," reports Dave K. about Palomino RV Resort, highlighting the ease of setting up.

Access considerations: GrandStand RV Park offers convenient highway access. "This is a really great option super close to the racetrack. The facilities are really nice and the staff takes great care of the space," explains Asher K., noting its proximity to Talladega Speedway.

Site selection: Choose based on your priorities. "Sites 2-4 had good views of the pond/field, sites 10-15 backed up to the tree line to provide a little shade all other sites had full sun," advises Jennifer H. about Bama Campground, helping RVers find the right spot based on shade preferences.
