Great Experience!

The secluded campsites give tons of privacy and the views/hiking around the park are great!

Primitive campsites with Perks!

Desoto State Park is a beautiful park with great hiking and waterfalls. The primitive camping area has a keyed gate. Make sure you arrive during business hours so they can get you registered and give you a key. They will also give you a big card with your last name on it that you will put on the…

Overall nice

We stayed the week after Labor Day and the place was mostly empty which was nice. It started filling up on Friday and once we had neighbors all around us, I realized how close some of the sites were. We stayed in site 42 in upper improved campground. It wasn’t the best for our large rig but we made…

Fun place but some sites are a bit tight!

Cool place to stay and visit. Was there during the 1st part of the COVID happenings! The staff was nice and friendly and started following the state guidelines... Was nice to see. Thanks! Spaces were a bit close but lots of shade in the upper parts of the CG. Lower section is more open due to a…

Great for boaters

We like to come here for lake time.  Easy to bring and access your boat from launch and paid boat slip.  Campground store is nice.  Some sites are nicer than others.

Beautiful Park

This park is absolutely gorgeous and feels like you’re on top if the world. There is a diverse range of campsites so make sure to look at the pictures before you reserve to ensure the site will fit your needs. The campground is gated and the staff is helpful and friendly. The views from the top are…

Great cheap campground

We go here often because it is only $3 a night. The only downside is no cell service (I guess that is good for some, but not everyone).

Great little camp ground

Ok, not sure where to start but this place is awesome. Ok, while other camp grounds all over are focusing on RV & pull behind trailers this place is specific to tent and RTT (we have a turtle back trailer with RTT on it) and we arrived later than planned & we’re greeted by Giorgio and he is…

Wonderful tent camping

This is a great little campground super close to Little River Canyon! Although there is nowhere to camp inside of the park this is my preference for the closest you can get. Although there are other sites nearby they are more geared towards RVs whereas this location is for those who want to tent…

Lots of options

This campsite is made up of multiple small campsites all around the falls near the trail. There are additional more private spaces further off the trail but I cover those in a different review. The advantage of these sites is that they don’t require additional trekking into the woods but the…

Private site

Check out my other reviews for more info on the area and some of the other campgrounds. This set of sites is a group that is further off the trail from the main Cheaha Falls camping area. You can keep going further up the creek to find additional sites. Although the sites themselves are not so…

Close to the falls

This is a very nice campsite along the river and is the closest backcountry site to the falls. It is also one of the closest sites to Lake Chinnabee. The site itself it not completely level but has two clearings that would work well for a tent and multiple trees for hammocks. It also has a nice…

Nice pull through

Narrow twisting roads lead to the lower level camping area, nice pull through, wish there was more information about local attractions. We stayed 3 nights very quiet camp site. I appreciate the improvements in the Campground. Everyone we encountered was very nice and friendly. No cell service or…

Camping with amenities

Cheaha was such a pleasant surprise. More like a resort, this park had tent camping, RV camping, a pool, a lake, cabins, a playground, and a restaurant with a view. We had a little trouble with the upper tent sites not being level because we have a roof top tent, but we were able to switch our site…

Great Lake, some good spots in the campground

This campground looks so different since the tornadoes a few years ago took out a lot of the trees.  It is still a great campground, and they have planted lots of trees and really fixed it up.  We ended up in a tiny last minute site I think in B section which I would not recommend.  We have…
