Thousand Trails Hidden Cove in Arley provides full hookups with both 30 and 50 amp service on spacious gravel sites that accommodate big rigs. The park operates year-round with three distinct camping loops, with Loop C featuring newer 50 amp sites. Birmingham South RV Park in Pelham maintains 99 sites with full hookups, including 30/50 amp electrical connections across level pads. For those seeking lakeside camping, Palomino RV Resort offers electric, water, and sewer hookups with 50 amp service on sites that include picnic tables and fire rings. Propane service is limited, with only select parks offering on-site fills.

    Bama RV Station

    Good For Quick Overnight Stay

Literally right off the interstate at Tuscaloosa. Much lower noise level than I expected. Definitely a parking lot, without trees. We are in site 9, pretty level gravel site, electric and water hookup only. 2 dump stations are available, 2 dog parks. 30 dollars a night. Mostly long term parking. No firepits or picnic tables. Check in by phone, no office.

    Corinth Recreation Area

    Perfectly Designed for RV Newbies!

Loved this park! It was our first trip in our new Travel Trailer and it couldn't have gone better. We stayed at Yellow Hammer site #9 easy pull through with plenty of room. Not only did all the sites have amazing scenery but the roads were well maintained. Full hookups and AT & T cellphone coverage good enough for working from Trailer. Verizon cellphone coverage didn't work here. Each site fully equipped with fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. Wood available for purchase from host.

Beach & Bath houses were closed due to COVID-19

We spent a lot of time walking with our kids on the trails and riding scooters around the campsite roads. Nature trails were extremely well kept with great views on the water

Best site is Yellow Hammer #17

    Deerlick Creek

    Awesome little campground

Nice level concrete pads with awesome shade. Bath house stayed clean. Nice 1/2 mile asphalt bike/walking trail. Hiking trail with hills and valleys skirting the lake. Boat ramp with easy access to the lake. Convenient access to Tuscaloosa for supplies, eating or just a change of scenery. Some site are smaller than others and some are pull through. Highly recommend.

Lakeside Landing RV Park & Marina

    One and done

The view is fantastic if you are lakeside- but it stops there. Most rentals are along one row and a couple of the lakeside sites. Sites are very unleveled with minimal gravel but almost all have a 6x9 concrete pad. No pool, no fire rings, spotty wifi and frequent brown outs on power. Both shower points smell horrible but appear clean otherwise. Lots of long-term vehicles. People are friendly and pets are welcome.

    Cherokee Campground

More of a Long Term Living Area

Most of the pads were filled with long-term residents. The owners were very nice. The rate was reasonable. Our gravel pad was not wide enough to be a) level and b) slide/awning out at the same time. The electric hook-up was at the opposite end of the pad from the water and sewer hook-ups. Some neighbors were friendly, others were a bit suspicious of us as interlopers based on how many times they walked past our area. Overall, would only stay again in a pinch.

    Clear Creek Cove RV Resort

Long term camping with a family atmosphere

This is a great campground that has ONLY long term camping so you really get to know your neighbors. The power is not included but the prices are very reasonable.

Our lot is spacious, gravel pad with a cement patio.

    Oak Mountain State Park Campground

    Updates please

At the regular campground, there’s only 30amp connections. Some have sewer and some not. There is no camp wifi. Swimming is quit a distance from campground.

The campground at the stables are pull through and 50 amp and full hookups.

    Sunset RV

    Bright light and road noise

Stopped for an overnight on our way home to Atlanta from a trip out west. Not much of a park. Most sites are long term or semi permanent. Only 6 available for regular RV. Water, 30/50 amp electric & sewer There is a small laundry room The office wasn’t open but we had reservations and had received an email about our site and directions. WiFi was poor. It is right off of I-20 so there was lots of road noise all night. There was a very bright vapor light above our site that lit up the whole area. There is a small dog walking area.

    Thousand Trails Hidden Cove

    Bring your boat

This RV park is right on a lake, but a bit away from anything else. If you have any sort of boat, kayak, paddle board, bring it! There is hiking about an hour away at the Bankhead National Forest.

You can pick your spot when you arrive. I like that.

A and B sections are the original sections. C section is brand new with 50 amps hookup. All the big rigs there.

I was on C74 with a great backyard overlooking the hills.

Bathhouse is brand new and squeaky clean. You can see that almost no-one uses the campground shower because one of them doesn’t have a curtain to separate your dry clothes from the water. And neither of them have a caddy or any spot where you can put your soap.

Pool was not open when I was here in April which was a shame. It was hot enough. I would have enjoyed a swim, especially so we there is not much else to do. I don’t have a boat yet. 🙁

    A decent Thousand Trails campground.

I had no reception with Verizon but my AT&T hotspot had good reception.

Guide to Dora

RV camping near Dora, Alabama offers a range of options within Alabama's Walker County, where camping elevations generally range from 300-600 feet above sea level. The region experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures often exceeding 90°F and mild winters, making fall and spring popular camping seasons. Cell service varies significantly between locations, with certain rural campgrounds experiencing limited connectivity.

What to do

Hiking in Bankhead National Forest: About 30 miles from Dora, visitors can explore numerous waterfall trails. "Great campground to hike Bankhead National Forest. The location makes it an excellent location to enjoy the numerous waterfall hikes in the area," notes a camper at Bama Campground & RV Park.

Stargazing opportunities: Rural campgrounds offer excellent night sky viewing due to minimal light pollution. "Huge field with little light pollution to stargaze," reports a visitor at Bama Campground.

Fishing at Smith Lake: The lake provides year-round fishing opportunities. "Nice location on Smith lake. Sites were roomy," shares a camper at Thousand Trails Hidden Cove, which offers direct lake access.

What campers like

Spacious campsites: Many RV parks feature generously sized sites. "Sites 2-4 had good views of the pond/field, sites 10-15 backed up to the tree line to provide a little shade all other sites had full sun," details a camper about Bama Campground & RV Park.

Clean facilities: Well-maintained bathhouses are frequently mentioned. "Bathhouse is brand new and squeaky clean," noted one camper about Togetherness Works RV Park, adding that "the shower cabin was beautiful and clean, was told that it was made from lumber cut and milled from the property."

Quiet, natural settings: Several campgrounds offer peaceful environments. "This place is great if you like peace and quiet. Its in the middle of the country side near Bankhead Forest," shares a Bama Campground visitor.

What you should know
