UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP AS OF JUNE 2021!!!

Located just five miles from Cody the Cody Trout Ranch Camp offers a truly unique vacation experience. Rent one of our 39 RV sites, spacious 20′ diameter tipis (8 that sleep 4-5) or sheep herder wagons (2 that sleep 2) on the picturesque Shoshone river or a tipi (2 that sleep 4-5) near our stocked trout pond. We offer picnic tables, two community campfire pits, clean laundry facilities, and clean bath/shower facilities. We are the perfect home base for exploring the historic town of Cody and we are only an hour away from the east entrance to the famed Yellowstone National Park. You’ll love sitting and relaxing by a nice fire underneath the beautiful starry sky and being lulled to sleep by the sound of the running river.

If you’re the adventuresome type, you can catch your own dinner. Our Tipi and Sheep Wagon camping guests may try their hand at fishing the river, on their own or with a guide and with a Wyoming fishing license. All of our guests may fish without a license in our stocked fishing pond! If you choose to keep your trout from the pond, guests must pay for the trout they keep, they start at $5 per fish. All equipment is provided for pond fishing, but if tipi guests want to fish the river, they will need their own gear. We are open from April through mid-October (depending on the weather). We are pet friendly. Whether you’re here for a few days or a few weeks, we’ll make your stay a memorable one.

      Great place!

For those who love both camping in scenic spots like Wyoming’s Big Game Campground and intense online gaming sessions, I’ve found a way to keep up your Valorant rank even when you’re off-grid. Exploring wilderness doesn’t have to mean missing out on climbing those competitive ranks! There’s a boosting service, https://eloboss.net/valorant-boosting that can give you a hand so you can focus on outdoor adventures without falling behind in-game. It’s a great option if you’re juggling outdoor trips and still want a competitive edge!

Two Nights in an amazing spot

We found this spot to stay overnight before visiting Cody and the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. We got a great spot with amazing views of the sunset. The road is rough in just a couple of spots, but we saw vans and a large Class C make it up here no problem. It was very quiet at night. There is a highway to the north, but the hills block most of the noise. Verizon cell reception was poor but did work. Starlink had super fast speeds. Sites were clean and definitely worth a look.

      Wide Open Spaces

(October 9th, 2023) This was the perfect place to stop on our way out of Yellowstone! It wasn’t clear if there were designated camping spots, but we parked at the end of an empty plateau like some other vans we could see in the distance. Stargazing was incredible, and the views during sunrise were amazing! It was windy on top of the hills, but fine for car camping.

      Amazing stay

Had an amazing night staying here on our way to Yellowstone. Easily accessible from the main road and lots of pull offs and turn arounds. We stayed in one of the first designated spots because we had a 20ft camper and there was only one other person we saw staying a couple hundred yards down the road. Great place to stop for the night or stay for a few days, close to town yet isolated in a beautiful desert.

      Avoid like the plague

In short the campground had a bear owners knew about, but didn’t inform the people booking. 3 year old child gets attacked & all campers immediately evacuated. Campground doesn’t reimburse the patrons as promised. Greedy low life’s.

great stop/close to cody and not too far from yellowstone

decent amount of spots and far enough between spots for privacy. directions send you farther than entrance if you’re coming from cody. there is a hill and a road to the right with a sign, that’s where the entrance is, not where directions send you.

me and my friends traveled in a truck, a 4runner, and a sedan. we passed a couple open spots but wanted to see what was further down the road. ended up going down a decently sketchy road, sedan made it but decided we better turn back to one of the first spots we found. once we set up camp it was a great 360 view next to the flag pole. upon exploration we found several bones (femur of a cow we think, spine of a smaller animal, and coyote skull we think) didn’t see any animals while we were there but just seemed like remnants of the coyotes we heard at night.

      Great Experience

We had site 1. The sites are close and not too big. Really the site is small. There is one bear locker, fire ring, and picnic table per site. The pit toilets were super clean and had a motion light inside them for night time. I loved hearing the rushing water all night long. The campground is very quiet. We walked the river a bit in the morning before leaving. We had no mosquitoes but when we arrived it was 46 degrees and when we left it was raining. Would stay here again. AT&T had one bar and our Verizon had no service.

      Gorgeous getaway

Beautiful managed campsite right on the beartooth scenic byway in Montana. No cell service (at all, no matter your provider) but you’re a quick 15 minute drive to the town of Red Lodge with everything you could need.

Perfect amount of tree cover in these campsites with gorgeous views of the Beartooths and scenic hikes every direction. There are three campsites on this main road loop (Greenough, Parkside, and Limber Pine). All have a mix of first come first serve sites and pre-booked sites.

Beautiful location and nice Reservoir with basic facilities

Very easy to find and probably 20 to 25 Camping spots. Some hold rigs up to 35 ft. Dual vault toilet, metal fire pits dispersed. Garbage cans available and picnic tables. However, disrespect of the land and garbage in many places outside of the cans. Sound travels across the water and some disrespectful people. Nice for one night but also stayed 4th of July weekend so might be more crowded than usual. Also, very, very windy up here. Not recommended for tents

      5 sites

5 sites. This is a first come first serve camping area. There is no concrete pads as mentioned in another review. Fire pits and picnic tables at 4 sites. They say it’s a fishing access but unless you have waders there is little access to rock creek on the bank due to thick brush. It is a decent place to stay overnight. No hookups.

      Solitude Granted

Getting into the area was easy and there wasn't much there other than solitude over a vast long and wide grasslands valley and a humongous 360 degree sky view. Very little shelter from the wind, however if you set up against the small hills just right, you'll have just enough shelter when things a blowing. July 1 was dry and there were herds of deer and a small pack of coyotes wailing in the distance at night. Not too far from Cody, which has an endless rodeo in the summer, it was easy to stay here for free and be close to society too. I will stay here again in my future travels through the area.

      Cooney State Park Campground

Clean campground, but not where I’d stay

Campsite has plenty of spots and decent amenities. Some of the spots have lake access where we saw other campers with their boats tied up to shore. The spots were way too close together for my liking. There were almost no trees, which meant no privacy from other campers. The campsite was EXTREMELY overpriced. We paid $36 for one night of tent camping ($8 vehicle fee and $26 tenters fee). This might be a reasonable price for RVs hooked up to electricity and water, but this was a ripoff for tenters that used only the pit toilet amenity. The lake was pretty, but I will absolutely continue on and camp in the Beartooth Mtns next time around.

1 RV site and about 10 tent sites. 2 mile narrow winding road is paved but not recommended for vehicles over 24'. Garbage and 1 common water source. RV site is about as sweet as they come. Water, dump, elect, picnic tables, fire ring, right by a stream. $7 per night

      Quiet and peaceful!

There’s only about 7 sites with the ability to stay for 14 days in a 28 day cycle. It’s a first come first serve basis. One vault toilet, rules board and a check in box.

I absolutely enjoyed my 4 day stay. It was still pretty early in the season so it wasn’t too crowded. Beautiful views with no heavy traffic.

Each camping site has a picnic table and a fire pit. Each site has wooden outlines of each spot; making it easy to park in your spot and setup camp.

ONLY WARNING! IT CAN GET VERY VERY WINDY UP HERE! I HAVE A PICKUP BOX CAMP BUT I SEEN A TENT TURN INSIDE OUT AND DISAPPEAR.
