GREAT location for access to pacific city and the beach and all the GREAT joys of this lovely beach town. Pelican Brewing is basically your kitchen for your stay. Lovely way to enjoy the beach for under $30 a night.
The campground has a long (40+ years) history of hosting a big hutch of rabbits roaming freely (more than 25 that I could see easily any time).
The trees lining the camp sites worked really well for my hammock hang needs.
First, it's a really LOVELY spot, right where the Whittaker Creek joins up with the Siuslaw River.
And parts of it are really lovely.
BUT!
Paths from the sites (7, 8, 9, others) to the river, that are *kind-of* there, need a lot of care. There real weed-whacker, brush-clearing messes right now.
And!
It's not clear which camp sites will give you those views of the river that we see in photos. Very few are in *sight* of the water.
If river views are what you're hoping for, campsites 31, 1 and 2 are solid choices.
Battle Ground Lake is a lovely campground, improved and organized, not wild. But perfect for quick 'base camp' getaways.
The lake is popular and provides lots of activities. I saw people fishing kayaking and more.
I camped at site 46 and had a *wonderful* pair of trees for my hammock rig.
Currently, fires are permitted, but wood isn't available for purchase, so you need to plan ahead and bring it in.
