Beautiful existing camp sites!!

The drive through the forest is absolutely gorgeous. I didn’t camp at the River but I will be back. It’s a big area.I’m pretty sure Boondocking is allowed all around this area.

Recreation fun

Easy to get to near residential area. Good place to have some off road fun.

Plenty to explore!

I enjoy the different cave tour options. Everyone is has always been very informative which makes the experience a great one. We did the Green river boat tour which was cool. We even enjoyed the ferry ride. I went backpacking here in January so there wasn’t many people at all which made it extra peaceful. Still plenty to do at the park so I’ll be back.

Leave no trace

I really enjoy backpacking Bankhead National Forest. We camped about 1 mile in at an existing fire ring. Beautiful water color!! Cool trees and rock formations.

Beautiful drive!

This area is a really nice area to explore with some elevation gain. There are some existing campfire rings along the road. Boondocking is allowed. I’ve only been here in the winter when there are less people. Cell service here and there.

Close to perfect!!

You can tell that the park is much appreciated. I think the walk in and drive in campground sites are very nice. I really enjoyed hiking the trails . I did find out it can be a challenge to get a shower since there’s only one stall and that there isn’t anything to hang your clothes or towel on. So I took a couple hooks with me and I went for it at 4:00 am in the morning, that’s when one of the big potholes full of water got me. The only other very minor issue I had was seeing some boards in the lake that look like they’ve been there for awhile. This is my favorite park near the city.

Seems to be a trail not a campground
