Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Wallula, WA

Hood Park Campground accommodates pets along the Snake River with spacious grassy sites and electric hookups. Dogs must remain on-leash in all areas including the waterfront, with waste disposal stations positioned throughout the grounds. Both RV and tent campers find pet-friendly options at the Army Corps of Engineers campground, though campers should note the facility closes seasonally (typically May 19 to September 5). Charbonneau Park and Fishhook Park similarly welcome pets with electric sites overlooking the water. The riverside pathways provide ample walking opportunities for dogs, though some visitors report issues with spiders on camping equipment, especially under trees during summer months.

Camping with pets near Wallula requires preparation for outdoor conditions. Walking trails along the Snake River offer exercise opportunities for leashed dogs with several campgrounds providing direct water access. The extreme temperature fluctuations typical of the area (ranging from 40 to 80 degrees in spring) necessitate additional planning for pet comfort. Burbank and Pasco locations provide convenient access to pet supplies and veterinary services when needed. Pasco Tri-Cities KOA operates year-round with pet-friendly sites featuring full hookups, while Columbia Sun RV Resort offers an alternative with more amenities but stricter pet policies. Most facilities require pets to be attended at all times, with quiet hours strictly enforced to minimize barking disturbances.

    RV Resort Four Seasons

    Lots of hookups

This site was right next to Fort Walla Walla, with a park and dog park. Not much else here but weird animal statues and long-term RVers. Lots of hookups for RV and trailers. No tent or car camping. The bathrooms were still closed June 2021, need to use your own hookups.

    Horn Rapids RV Resort

    Great spot

We were passing through and Horn Rapids was perfect for our use. It has a nice little mini mart, drive through spots, full hookups, playground for the kids, clean bathrooms/showers, and allows pets. It is also close to Safeway and right outside the gate is a camper trailer friendly gas station with diesel.

We will definitely be adding this spot to our route again when we pass through.

    Umatilla Marina & RV park

Nice place to go and just relax on your way to your next destination

First of all, the staff is very nice and respectful. The campground is very clean. The bathrooms have showers and are well kept. They provide wifi, water, sewer and power at the sites. It's a bit pricey for being as basic as it is but when you look around at other campgrounds in the area and nationally the price is right in line. Next to Umatilla park so that's a bonus. Marina is just down the hill. Pet friendly. I would stay again.

    Blue Valley RV Park

    Nice Campground

Our GPS took us right to the campground (CG) plus there was plenty of Blue Valley RV Park signage to guide the way into a small industrial area and the adjacent golf course. Check-in was quick and we proceeded to back-in site 8 with FHUs. The utilities are towards the back of the pad, so I had to use two sewer hoses to get from the main black tank on our Brinklely G model. The sites on this side of the CG are nicely landscaped with a decent amount of room. After reviewing all the rules on line, we were a little concerned but the management was not overbearing and there are four main rules as displayed when you check in 1) 5 mph speed limit, 2) don’t park in the road) 3) pick up after your pet, and 4) pets on a leash. Water pressure was good at about 50 psi. We got 4 bars on Verizon. There were no mature trees in our area, so we did not have a problem getting a clear shot north for our Starlink. We logged into the Wifi and it was above average, but the CG was not full. The CG is near a small but nice industrial area near the police station and humane society. Go to Walla Walla’s main street area where there are far more wine tasting rooms than you can do in a day. Grab pizza from the Sweet Basil Pizzeria. This CG was a good choice to visit the area.

    Pendleton KOA

If you have another option go there

We have been here for month and honestly that 29 days to long. This place is okay for one night but if you want piece and quiet, this place is not it. The spots are so close together that you can hear others conversations. Every other day we were woke up from the park staff talking beside my RV running sprinklers, doing lawn care, or something. Don't leave anything on their picnic table or they will knock on your door at 9:30 am and they will keep knocking til you answer. Sure there's wifi but good luck using it. Pet park really stinks. Yes dogs use it but they don't treat it so on a sunny day it's strong stinch of piss. Almost Unbearable. Staff in the office are sweet but maintenance guy is an asshole. But the veins are beautiful.

    Boardman Marina Park

    Great little stop!

We stayed here in the off season, it’s first come first served parking, which ended up being really great for us. We got to park with a view of the river and away from other RVs. The spaces are large, there is a bathroom and showers on site. There is a nice walking path, and loads of grass and beach and places to walk your dog. We all had a very nice overnight experience.

    Hood Park

    Watch for the Sprinklers!

I appreciate the green in this park, but hate that the sprinklers have to be running almost non-stop to keep it that way. The noise of them scared my cat.

Tried to check in early, but was not allowed. Hung out in the day-use area.

The sites were big and some nice trees.

Electric, but no water. Was told to fill up jugs at the faucets scattered around the park. The water was disgusting! I filled one jug and it came out a light brown color. The park host saw the expression on my face and came over to tell me the water is tested every day and is safe to drink. Safe or not, I was not about the drink that.

There's a nice walk around a pond in the back of the campground. Overall, a decent place to stay if you're in the area, but not my favorite.

    Scooteney Reservoir Camping

    Pretty neat

We tried to find a campground nearby because it was getting late and somehow this site never popped up on this app for me -but, we ended up seeing a sign for it and turned in and were pleasantly surprised. Water fountains, sinks, flush toilets, fire pits and all of that. There are (harmless) spiders all over the trees and bushes (but I've read that about almost all of the surrounding campgrounds). Not sure whether they enforce payments or not, but the sign said it was $15 per site with $5 for an additional car. This was a nice place to stop in the middle of nowhere. Also, most of the campsites were empty so we were able to have our pick from some great spots. Plus, we made friends with a very friendly cat who was staying there.

Guide to Wallula

Camping near Wallula offers direct access to the Snake and Columbia Rivers with numerous Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds providing riverside sites. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F in this arid region, creating challenging camping conditions during peak months. Winter camping options are limited as most public campgrounds close seasonally from September to May.

What to do

Fishing from your campsite: At Fishhook Park, campers can practically fish directly from their sites along Lake Sacajawea. "Lots of nice sites. If you are a long rv, be cautious as the reservation line has little knowledge of sites," notes Charis W. Catfish are particularly active in these waters.

Wildlife viewing: The natural areas around Hood Park connect to a wildlife preserve perfect for birding. "There is a connected wildlife preserve that you can walk around in and also fish in that is a separate area. Lots of birds to watch," reports Nathan B. Morning hours provide the best viewing opportunities.

Water activities: Plymouth Park serves as a convenient base for Columbia River exploration. "Easy bike ride or short drive to the water area," says Mimi. The park sits 6 miles from Hermiston, Oregon, making supply runs straightforward during extended stays.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Columbia Sun RV Resort maintains exceptionally well-kept grounds and amenities. "The whole park is beautiful and has a wonderful summer wind. Not far from stores and restaurants. Gas and diesel near by," states Joe C. The resort's landscaping resembles a golf course with irrigated lawns.

Spacious sites: Campers appreciate the generous spacing at Charbonneau Park, particularly in the RV section. "Beautiful and quiet park. Site 14 has water, electric and sewer. Park has a dump station. Using our lifetime senior pass, we paid $12 per night," shares Annell N. Most sites include picnic tables and fire rings.

Accessibility: Umatilla Marina & RV Park offers convenient access just half a mile from I-84. "Just a half mile from I-84, you'll get a little truck noise but was worth the $34 for an overnight stay," reports Ray V. The location balances highway convenience with river access at the marina.

What you should know

Seasonal challenges: Insects can be problematic during warmer months at several dog friendly campgrounds near Wallula. "We camped here May 2016. This park we tried the tent only site and it was a bit of a walk to haul all of our stuff. The trees were in bloom and bugs hatching & swarming, so that was a huge hurdle," explains Nanette C. about Fishhook Park.

Noise considerations: Train and highway noise affects certain campgrounds in the area. "It was very quiet on the Wednesday before Labor Day, but we were told it would be completely full on the weekend," notes Lee D. at Fishhook Park. "Be aware there are train tracks nearby and you will hear an occasional loud train."

Limited availability: Most Pasco Tri-Cities KOA sites fill quickly during summer weekends. "Freeway noise aside, this is a great park with plenty of amenities. The park is very clean and the staff was helpful," says Wesley M. Reservations are strongly recommended during peak season (June-August).

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Hood Park features excellent facilities for children. "This campground offers developed sites with hookups for campers. There is a playground and interpretive events for kids in the evenings. They even had some movies on the weekends," explains Chris A. Programs typically run Friday and Saturday evenings.

Swimming options: Several pet-friendly campgrounds near Wallula offer designated swimming areas. "There is also a connected park that is only open during the day with a beach," mentions Nathan B. about Hood Park. Most swimming areas lack lifeguards, so supervision is essential.

Educational opportunities: "The McNary Dam and Fish window are a few miles down the road and well worth a visit (when open)," suggests Jill T. This free attraction near Umatilla Marina & RV Park provides interactive displays about local fish species and dam operations.

Tips from RVers

Hookup variations: Franklin County RV Park provides basic services at reasonable rates. "Inexpensive RV park in Pasco. Other options were full or twice the rate. Has discounts for Goodsams. Laundry, Wi-Fi and bathrooms," reports Bradee A. Water and power hookups are standard, with some sites offering full hookups.

Site selection strategy: Back-in sites at Fishhook Park offer better views but require more maneuvering. "The back-in sites are wide enough to comfortably fit a TT, 5th wheel or RV and your toad or other vehicle side-by-side. The pull-through sites are very large," advises Lee D. Corner sites generally provide more privacy.

Temperature management: Summer heat requires planning for RV cooling. "Temperature ranged from 40 to 80 degrees," notes Annell N. about spring conditions at Hood Park. Most RV sites offer 50-amp service necessary for running air conditioners during summer heat that frequently exceeds 95°F.
