    Coyote Run RV Park

    Great place for a night

I was skeptical about this place because it is part of an RV storage area and very close to the highway. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It is very well maintained, very neat, irrigated grass for each site. The campground is one loop with back in sites on the perimeter and pull-through sites on the "infield." I had a pull through site that was easy to navigate. Hookups are well maintained. Good Verizon cell service (3 bars). Many long term residents but with well-kept rigs. The town is sleepy at best! Be aware that on Sundays, every restaurant is closed! There is road noise audible inside the rig from accelerating/decelerating trucks but not awful. I did not look at the bathrooms and laundry but they looked very nice.

    Wine Country RV Park

    Quiet Overnight in Wine Country

I typically rate campgrounds as they fit into 1 of 5 categories. This campground will be rated as an “along the way” stay — grounds that you seek out for a night or two as a place to simply stay the night along your journey to regroup and get some sleep. Ratings for this category are based on: Cost: 4 Overall grounds: 4 Utility of sites (hookups, level ground, accessibility): 4 Noise: 5 Reservation Process/Ease of Getting a Site: 5 Layout: 4 Customer Service: 5

We only stayed at Wine Country RV Park as an overnight along our way, however, this could be a nice basecamp spot for people who love exploring wineries. The small town of Prosser has almost 30 wineries and tasting rooms in the immediate area and this park is in the midst of them all.

The staff is quite friendly and they offer tastings from local wineries in their community room frequently. It’s worth mentioning that mask-wearing seems to be finished here. To each their own, but I know it’s still very important to some.

The grounds are mostly well-kept though we did see some dog poop as we were walking around and some long term residents that took up more than their own space. The grounds are big-rig friendly and there is some grass between spaces. Premium sites have concrete pads while the lower cost sites are just gravel. The pads are mostly level, but slope upwards in some spots so unhitching can be just a little tricky. There is no privacy between sites, but the sites are wide enough for slide outs and chairs. Hookups were good, wifi was good enough for streaming (the park was only about 1/4 full while we were there). There is a pool and hot tub, both of which were closed for winter, and a small playground and basketball hoop for kids.

Price is reasonable, if a little high, for being in the middle of a bunch of wineries, and they take Good Sam and other membership discounts. The area is quaint with lots of farms (and some of the smells that go along with it). There is a cute bakery just over the bridge in the historic area of town called Jade’s. Give them a visit! Also, for runners/walkers/bikers... there is a very long path system that goes from Prosser and along the highway for miles into Sunnyside! It’s accessible about 1/2 mile from the park. Also walking distance is Vintner’s Village with a series of tasting rooms to visit.

A nice find for both passing through or staying a while longer if you’re into wines!

    Pasco Tri-Cities KOA

Good stop for a long drive - very friendly and helpful staff

We stayed here for one night on July 26, 2018.

The park is tight with very narrow spaces but well maintained. We were only stopping for one night on the way home and having a level, nice pull-through site, with hookups was nice. We never even unhooked the trailer but was spot on level. The park is pretty packed with many long-term residents visible through more permanent porches, 100 gallon propane hook up, and lots of potted plants.  Since we were traveling and the park was so clean, it didn't bother me at all but others have made note of that.

There is both dumpsters onsite but also site pickup of garbage by the park. That’s a nice unexpected service. The pool and laundry closes at 8pm but the showers are open 24 hours. The greeter was very nice and helpful, couldn't ask for any more.

Sage Hills Golf Club & RV Resort

    Perfect Weekend Getaway

With gas prices out of control this was a perfect weekend getaway right off highway 17. Immaculately kept RV sites and 20 yards from teeing off. Full hookups, propane refill and a pool. Clubhouse serves food and does have full service bar during golfing hours. (9-5). One hour from tri cities and 15 minutes from Moses Lake or the potholes.

    Beach RV Park

    Way above and beyond

Park was full and office closed when we pulled in and manager Katie saw us drive through and flagged us down. She made space for us and even loaned a 30 to 50 amp adapter so we could hook up our 30 amp plug. Showers were nicer than any other on our 2800 mile trip from Arkansas (11 days on road so far) and park is quiet and shaded right by the water. We would recommend this park to anyone passing through Benton City Washington

The region experiences hot, dry summers with temperatures frequently exceeding 90°F and mild winters where most campgrounds remain open. What to do

"Gorgeous location on the outskirts of town. Has all the amenities and activities you want in a semi-urban RC resort / glamping get away," notes a visitor about the resort's proximity to wine country attractions.

Columbia River recreation: Access boat launches and fishing spots within 10 minutes of most campgrounds. Umatilla Marina & RV Park offers riverside camping with water activities. "It's nice down by the water you can swim or fish. It also has a nice view of the sunset," reports one camper about the riverside location.

Golf getaways: Several courses within 15 miles of area campgrounds welcome visitors. Horn Rapids RV Resort sits adjacent to a golf course. "Wow was this place fancy! If you're looking for a full-service sort of experience, look no further! Fantastic amenities and right across from a major golf course," shares one enthusiastic golfer.

What campers like

Immaculately maintained grounds: Landscaped spaces at several parks provide comfortable surroundings. Horn Rapids RV Resort receives consistent praise for its upkeep. "This RV park is the best maintained park I have ever seen. The lots are not real big, but the landscaping is pristine (think golf course) and overall the park is meticulously maintained," notes one visitor.

Private bathroom facilities: Individual shower rooms available at select parks. "Crista was very accommodating and helpful to find us a monthly spot. The bathrooms are spotless. There's plenty of them too," mentions a long-term guest about Horn Rapids' facilities.

Swimming pools and hot tubs: Seasonal amenities available at larger resorts. "There is a really nice pool and hot tub, laundry room, showers, and a very nicely stocked store that includes hot food available," describes a camper appreciating the resort-style amenities.

What you should know

Highway noise levels vary significantly between parks. Beach RV Park sits near the freeway, affecting nighttime quiet. "Great site off the freeway- but because it's close, you'll hear cars all night," warns one tent camper about the ambient noise.

Fire restrictions differ across facilities: Some parks prohibit all open flames. Columbia Sun RV Resort doesn't allow campfires on property. "No firepits but we knew that before going - brought a propane fire pit with us," explains one adaptable camper.

Seasonal crowding affects availability: Summer weekends and wine festival dates require advance booking. "We only stayed at Wine Country RV Park as an overnight along our way, however, this could be a nice basecamp spot for people who love exploring wineries," observes a traveler about the strategic location.

Tips for camping with families

Look for parks with green space: Some facilities maintain lawn areas for play. Wine Country RV Park offers family-friendly outdoor areas. "There is a pool and hot tub, both of which were closed for winter, and a small playground and basketball hoop for kids," notes a visitor describing recreational options.

Consider swimming access options: River beaches offer alternatives to pool facilities. "The marina has a large parking lot and spots to clean fish. There is a nice park and swimming area for kids," describes a visitor to Umatilla Marina & RV Park.

Check entertainment scheduling: Some parks organize community activities. "Fun experience: the field next to the campground set up a outdoor movie night with free popcorn. The kids loved it and it was a great memory maker," shares a family about an unexpected bonus at their stay.

Tips from RVers

Hookup compatibility matters: Not all parks offer both 30 and 50-amp service. Coyote Run RV Park sometimes requires adaptors. "They only have 50 amp & we needed 30 but mgr let me borrow an adapter," explains a grateful traveler.

Wide interior roads benefit larger rigs: Some parks design for easier navigation. "They have a very wide road through the park which is nice and long pull-through sites," notes an RVer appreciating the spacious layout at Coyote Run.

Site levelness varies between parks: Concrete pads at premium sites provide stability. "Premium sites have concrete pads while the lower cost sites are just gravel. The pads are mostly level, but slope upwards in some spots so unhitching can be just a little tricky," advises a detailed reviewer about site conditions.
