Lake Mohave - Nevada Telephone Cove — Lake Mead National Recreation Area

Great views right on the lake. It can get very hot in the summer. It can get crowded but most of the crowd leaves at sundown.

Beautiful setting during the offseason, unless you’re into crowds as illustrated by Google Maps during the summer. A little windy at times, but so peaceful with 5-10 boondockers at any given time, well dispersed.

Two clean, well maintained vault toilets onsite, along with one large dumpster. Seven day stay limit, as posted in several places. The entry route is sand/gravel, passable by all but the largest of busses towing long trailers. Light traffic in this offseason, and the route was bladed recently following the late November 2025 rains.

Great hiking, kayaking and water sports, fishing and such. Unimproved boat access ramp, sandy beach. Lots of coves to hike to, and neat geological features to explore.

Bugs aren’t bad, but some lingering mosquitoes and knats with temperatures between 75-50. More of an FYI, not a major problem. Enjoy!

What a beautiful spot on the lake, some toilets but that is the only service. The road in is all dirt and there are a couple of washes that could cause trouble for longer trailers with low clearance.

Beautiful area just outside of Laughlin, Nevada. Right on a Cove of Lake Mead. Four Mile unpaved Road to get down to the lake and anywhere between 15 to 20 camping spots depending on group size. Small boat launch for jet skis but not for bigger boats. Do not recommend trying to take anything bigger than a 35 ft RV down there. Two vault toilets and a garbage dumpster. Road is recently grated and other than a little bit of noise until 10:00 p.m., a great place for a night or several. Stay limit here is 7 days. I arrived Friday at 3:00 p.m. and found the last spot.

Telephone Cove is a beautiful and very peaceful location. We visited on a Tuesday in early April. Although it seemed somewhat crowded for a weekday, everyone we encountered was friendly. We really appreciated how quiet it was at night – no loud parties, generators, or disturbances. We only stayed for one night but would definitely stay here again. The only reason for not giving it a full five stars is that some RVs were parked extremely close to the bathrooms. It looked like they might be longer-term stays, and their proximity felt like it encroached on privacy when using the facilities. Overall, though, it's a great spot, and we had a positive experience.

This is a perfect dispersed camping spot! Dirt road in was about 4 miles long from the highway but pretty well graded and easy to drive, big rig friendly. 

Plenty of camping spots along the water with some shade trees. Dumpster onsite and a few vault toilets for the tent campers. Very safe crowd.

We have a 37’ class A diesel pusher. The road in wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Go slow. Some tight spots so watch for oncoming vehicles. Beach is first come first serve. 7 day camping limit. Free. Restrooms and dumpsters available. Boat launch area. No wake zone for swimming. Shallow water is great for kids and dogs.

This place is special to me. My family used to come here every year, and 7 days free camping right on the river. The road is windy and narrow, but drivable, there is our house and no running water, but they do have a dumpster

This is a free camping area inside the Lake Mead NRA but you do not have to pay an entry fee to access. 4.2 miles of dusty washboard gravel road, with some steep pops up and down, but folks haul TTs and Class As in there. The actual beach area is FCFS, 4 vault toilets, huge dumpster, but no potable water. Cell signal is best on far north end. Signs note 7 day camping limit, and park rangers do patrol this area.

This site is saying Telephone Cove is on the Arizona side and costs money? I stayed at Telephone Cove on the Nevada side....Dispersed camping and free! Took some effort to get there in a large motorhome...but we'll worth it. I kinda doubt there is a Telephone Cove on both sides of ....oh yeah...Lake Mohave...not Lake Mead!!?? Hmmmmm?

Nice place no one was around. Clear water and perfect temperature to swim and paddle in.

Beautiful spot especially if you have kayaks or small fishing boats, easy to launch from camp. Too populated if you are like us and want privacy. We came in the winter thinking it wouldn’t be to be too busy and it was.

used to be right up on the water here, which became pretty nice in the summer months. since the lowering levels id recommend heading somewhere toward the Mohave line as you will not have to commute as far to lake drop ins. otherwise, mountain biking has picked up in this area with easy access to a wide variety of both single track and downhill.

Great primitive campground on the Nevada side of Telephone cove. There's a boat launch, vault toilets and that's it. It's free so it fills up fast on weekends with campers and day use water enthusiasts.
