The Wichita Bend RV Park is a 28 space facility located at 300 Central Freeway (I-44). Each space has water and electrical hookups (all spaces have standard 30 amp service, and 14 spaces have both 30 and 50 amp service). The spaces do not have sewer hookups, but the park does have a dump station. There is a rental drop box for payments of $17 per day with a 72 hour maximum. Longer stays can be requested by calling the park office at (940) 761-7491 (Office hours are M-F, 8-5). There is not a full time attendant. A Park Ranger comes by nightly to collect the fees and make sure everyone has paid. Only RV’s with water and sewage-holding capabilities are allowed because of the lack of restrooms. The park is located along the east bank of the Wichita River and can be accessed by exiting at the Texas Tourist Bureau. A swinging bridge across the river provides a scenic outlook, and can take visitors into Lucy Park.

    Overview

Kiowa Park I lies along the scenic shore of Waurika Lake in the Great Plains Region of southern Oklahoma. The area offers many recreation activities, including fishing, boating and hunting. Waurika Lake encompasses 10,100 acres of water and about 12,000 acres of land, which provide ample space for visitors to enjoy the outdoors. It is about six miles northwest of the city of Waurika and lies in portions of Jefferson, Cotton and Stephens Counties. This facility is named after the Chisholm Trail, a trail used to transport cattle from Texas ranches to Kansas railroads in the late 1800s.

    Recreation

Waurika Lake provides excellent opportunities for fishing and hunting. Anglers seek out channel and flathead catfish, largemouth bass, white bass, hybrid striper, crappie, walleye and sunfish. Approximately 6,040 acres of land around the lake are managed for game. Sought-after species include white-tailed deer, bobwhite quail, mourning dove, wood duck, mallard, pintail, teal, canvas back, cottontail rabbits and wild turkey. Boating and skiing enthusiasts play on the large areas of open water and along the the scenic shoreline. There are four large embayments and a number of smaller coves that make boating on the lake a pleasure.

    Natural Features

The large shade trees, gently sloping shoreline and expansive lakefront views of the horizon invite the visitor to relax and take in the scenery. Grassland prairies, farms and forests surround the lake area. Wildlife such as white-tail deer, ducks, rabbits and wild turkey graze the landscape.

    Wichita Bend RV Park

Great little place right off the highway

There is water and 30a electric at every site I believe some sites have 50 amps as well. There is a 72-hour limit. It's right next to the highway so there is road noise. Sites are level water pressure is good and electric is pretty stable. The park is very clean.

    Very nice no frills

We pulled in at 10:30 pm but very easy to park in pull through spot. Clean, flat, gravel spots with electric and water. Put $15 in an envelope as required. Will definitely stay here again when we head this way.

    What a dump

My bad for not looking harder. I heard about Texas lakes and wanted to camp near one. This place is a pile of junk. Low water pressure. Trash everywhere. No picnic table. Looks like a lot of losers moved in there; grass growing over their sewer lines. Ferrell cats…. The list goes on.

However the bar and store were cute with ice cold AC and apparently ice cold beer.

Pretty run down and amenities not accurate:

THERE ARE NO SHOWERS OR FLUSH TOILETS INCLUDED IN THIS STAY ACCORDING TO CITY WORKERS…when we arrived I went into the building to check out showers and a lady asked me what I was doing then informed the showers are for paid pool goers and there are vault toilets by the rv dump site, but they were locked. The sites are all covered in hitchhiker burrs, our dog found them all haha. The sites have water hookups but they’re in-ground and several are washed out so almost impossible to hook to without getting mud in your hose.

Great service and friendly people and clean.

First stop on this tour from Dallas TX to New Mexico and back

I had choosen this place out of location ,it has a walmart in walking distance.

We got delayed from start of pickup our RV and got here a lot later then we had intended, so I wrote the owner a message and she answered rapid how to find it and where to find our paperwork.

We found the spot and got settled and went into bathrooms that was the most clean bathroom I have ever seen in a campground.

Slept a good night sleep and had some things we needed to fix on the RV rental and here the owner is very happy and good to help out and had the parts we needed.

And then we was off again

    Didn't mow............

Spent 9/29-10/1 at Kiowa II campground.  The RV parking pads are paved and were  level.  The sites are spacious.  Pull-through and back-in sites are available.  Pull-through sites are for shorter RVs as they are a tightly curved.

The biggest drawback is that they didn't mow....even for reserved locations!!!  The grass seed heads were no less than knee high.  This caused us to have to park our RV at an angle on the pad to get out of the grass getting caught in our door.

Additionally,  I walked to the bathroom at the swim beach and was very disappointed and amazed at the thick mature growth of sand burr sticker plants allowed along the beach.  There was a strip about 4-8' wide and approximately 40-60' long at the point the beach meets the grass.  The sand burr plants were also growing throughout the grass area.  I WOULD NOT STAY AT THIS CAMPGROUND IF I HAD RESERVED A SPOT THERE.  There appears to be no grass management at all in this area where children and adults generally would want to go barefoot.  Wish I had taken a pic... :(

THEN, in different bathroom at the Kiowa II campground, I found a snake skin wrapped around the bottom of a toilet!!!  This is in a bathroom with a closed door.  There was another snake skin in the waste basket between the sinks.  The light was also out in the ladies side of the bathroom.

    Lights out at night !

I stopped in on the 23rd of September, 92 degrees some wind, lady at check in extremely friendly and helpful. Sites are spaced about 100 ft apart, lots of privacy. Very good place to spend a few days. BUT, lights out at night, bugs by the millions. I didn’t fish but a few were, didn’t see much results , too hot! Grounds are very clean and well kept, a Ranger lives on sight. Play ground for the kids.

    Kiowa Park Campground

    Awesome place

I stayed here September 4th. Literally on labor day. It's a large campground with lots of space between most sites. It was completely silent only a handful of campers spaced way apart. Lots of spots on the water with easy access to the water. It's beautifully maintained even the bathrooms are clean. No trash this place is spotless and beautiful and quiet.
I was just going to stay a night but I honestly might stay the full 14 days. I basically have a private beach. Only problem is it's seasonal. Also I have Virizon. I had 4 bars worked fine.

    Beautiful Views Lots to Do!

The road to the 3 camping spots are absolutely not easy to get to. If you have a big rig I suggest you take it super slow and when the road comes to a “Y” take the left and BE CAREFUL! There was a horrific rain storm while on our stay here so this brought out the mudders! I think you’re not SUPPOSED to OHV here, but there was people who came out and tore the road up worse than when we first got here. Ruts the size of a VW.

The beach is very muddy. Not too much sand. It does not stink. There are a lot of Fish, Birds and Clams. So if need be, you won’t go hungry if stuck for a period of time.

As for the water. Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink. Bring your own water. I don’t suggest bathing in the lake but there are no signs saying you can’t.

No bathrooms but there is a hiking trail across the highway from the turn to the campground. It has a wonderful toilet and trash can that you can use for the small fee of not throwing up all over yourself over the smell of rotting fish corpses and probably other small animals. It looks neat from a distance. Do not go in there.

We walked to the little station at the stop sign about a quarter mile south. The google reviews say it’s amazing. But i beg to differ. If you need petro or a place to take a quick wee I suggest going over the bridge into town. There is no public bathroom here and the contactless pay does not work. Everything is overpriced even the fuel.

The trail. It is 13 miles ONE way, so if you decide to hike, take gear and water. It’s absolutely stunning.

We stayed the last week of November into the first week of December. The weather fluctuated but was mostly on the warm side with the exception of a few days in the 40’s.

If the road was maintained we would return. I would have given it a 5 star rating. Everything about this place is stunning. So my rating is on the road solely. It’s very difficult to access.

    Great place for a stopover

John the person who runs the place is very helpful and friendly. It's a nice clean Park, easy in and out. It's on the plain side, but all the sites have concrete pads and a little bit of space between rigs. The bathrooms and laundry rooms are all clean and functional.

One night stay passing through, 34 ft fiver.  Friendly folks that show you to your spot.  good Wi-Fi (rare).  right next to a super wal-mart, less than 5 min walk, which is  very handy.  Large and clean bath / shower house.  Pool.  Lots of Long term folks here.  The drive needs work, huge potholes, go slow for more than 1 reason.
