    Cotulla Camp Resort

    Underwhelming KOA

We stopped here after crossing the border and needed a place to rest overnight. Just off the highway which was nice and considering proximity it wasn't very noisy. There's a pool, laundry, club house, play area for kids, and bathrooms with shower. Bathrooms we're subpar and wifi was non existent. We got cell reception but long term guests told us wifi hasn't worked for months. RV utilities are also at rear of sites so you need to have long extensions for sewer hoses, electrical cords, and water connections to actually plug in. This park is definitely made for big rigs. At $45 we felt this park was not worth the cost, but it's the going rate in the area.

    Exceptional Customer Service

This campground(CG)/RV resort has exceptional customer service. We were on a waitlist to add another day to our reservation. They proactively called us back about a month later to let us know they could accommodate another night’s stay. We followed the website instructions to come in so we could take a right turn into the RV Resort, which is a 1/4 mile from the golf course entrance. A very short rig could take a left turn. The gate was down so we called the number listed on the gate and we were let in for a very pleasant check-in. We were assigned pull-through site 406 with FHUs. There’s a slope off the front of the site, so I needed to center the rig on the level part of the cement pad. By doing this I needed 20’ of sewer hose to get from my rear black tank to the sewer. The CG was quiet with no kids running around as this is a 55+ CG. The guest internet was below average for a park this size, but we have Starlink. We got 3 bars on Verizon. Most of the campers here were seasonal with license plates from CO, MN, and WI. Several of the campers we talked to didn’t golf and came here to get away from cold weather. We did not see any overnighters during our four-day stay but this CG is fairly far from the San Antonio area interstates. CG was well-kept with no junky sites. They have a laundry room, but a couple of machines were not working. The sites were decently spaced and very long. Many reviewers called the sites spacious. The sites were not as far apart or as large when compared to many of the State Parks or Corps of Engineers CGs we’ve stayed. Get pizza from Luigi's Italian Restaurant in nearby Castroville as it’s in the top 5 pizzas we’ve had as we traveled through all lower 48 states. We enjoyed our stay, including playing their challenging golf course, and would definitely return.

    Castroville Regional Park

    Great

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Castroville Regional Park, and it was an amazing experience! The park is beautiful and well-maintained, offering a peaceful and scenic environment. The campsites are spacious, and I loved how they’re equipped with picnic tables, fire pits, and plenty of space for tents or RVs. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The nearby Medina River was perfect for a relaxing afternoon, and there are plenty of hiking and biking trails to explore. I also appreciated the clean restrooms and showers, which made the experience much more convenient. Overall, Castroville Regional Park is a great choice for a family-friendly getaway or a peaceful retreat into nature. I’ll definitely be coming back!

    Thousand Trails Medina Lake

    Great park with large sites!

Medina Lake Thousand Trails RV Park is an awesome campground with large sites and lot of nature! There are trees and shade and it is along Medina Lake shores. The lake was dried up during our stay, but it was still beautiful views all around. They have 30 & 50 amp hook-up sites. Not all have sewer connections, but there is a dump station on site. There are tent sites, also. There are lots of amenities such as a huge pool, playgrounds, dog runs, restrooms, laundry, trails, boat launch, community center, games, basketball, pickle ball, mini golf, and so much more! Fun for the whole family. This campground does have a lot of deer around. We really enjoyed this park and the smell of nature here.

    Blazing Star Luxury RV Resort

    Good spot!

Nice place with tons of amenities. Good Wi-Fi and cell service (Verizon). The office ladies are really nice! The only thing that took caught us off guard were the military planes flying overhead, but it only lasted for an hour but it was loud.

The spot had trees one side and was a larger premium site. Was very easy to pull in and get parked and set up. The bathrooms were close and the community is pretty quiet.

    Thousand Trails Medina Lake

    Labor day weekend

Large RV Park. Large lake Frontage. Get there early. first-come-first-served policy. Sites are good size. Most have plenty of shade. Deer walk around the park all day and night. Dog friendly even with "aggressive" dog breeds. Very much a plus for us. Very quiet and peaceful. Needing to be a member to get entry code at front gate or have to call number for front desk clerk to let you in was annoying. Everyone was friendly and the employees were helpful

Cotulla Fish Hatchery & RV Park

    Rustic Charm

All sites have FHU. 6 sites are 30 Amp only all others are 50 amp. There is fishing and wildlife galore. We saw deer, pigs, chickens and lots of fish!!!! It is a bit eclectic but the owner is a very kind elderly gentleman who goes out of his way to make you feel at home. The laundry room was spotless, and prices were reasonable. It is only 166.00 per week. If it had bathhouses, I would give it more stars.

    Castroville Regional Park

    Hidden Texas Gem

I want to rank this park a 2 so I can keep this jewel hidden but that would not be right. This park is well worth the visit. Dont get upset with first impressions. You have some wide pull through sites on asphalt and pull through sites in main park. Get to the river! You will find the Medina River at its finest. Beautiful trails and deep swimming holes. Everything young kids love. Beware of the Marine ROTC group on Saturday morning. Haha. Go to Castroville Regional.

    Thousand Trails Medina Lake

So far in our FT living this is one of our top 5 TT campground

Well it isn't the newest campground around. As a matter of fact, it could stand a few upgrades. But they are minor and do not take away from the breathtaking views, wildlife abound and the overall peace and serenity with staying at this campground. We stated close to the water which btw is just water and electric. If you want full hookups you will need to be a short distance away from the lake. About a 1/8 of a mile. We were lucky to be there on two beautiful winter days in Texas, days were in the low 70's and nights around 40. Prefect as the picture taking. We will no doubt be back when passing through. Oh and btw, you will have to travel up and down the Hill country of Texas to get there. It in itself is a beautiful drive.
