Goliad State Park's pet-friendly campground loops permit dogs in all camping areas including Jacales, Karankawa, Longhorn, and Vaquero camping areas. Pets must remain on leashes no longer than six feet when outside vehicles or tents. The park offers multiple accommodation types suitable for pet owners, with tent sites, RV hookups, cabins, and glamping options available. Water and electric hookups are standard at most sites, with many featuring picnic tables and fire rings. Campers appreciate the clean facilities and spacious sites that provide adequate room for pets. Several loops feature sites with ample shade trees, which provide relief for dogs during hot Texas summers. Local campgrounds are searchable through The Dyrt's listings.
Coleto Creek Reservoir and Park and Victoria Coleto Creek Lake KOA provide additional pet-friendly camping options near Fannin. Both locations offer well-maintained sites where dogs can accompany their owners throughout the campgrounds. The historic trails at Goliad State Park provide excellent walking opportunities for leashed dogs, with many visitors noting the shady paths along the San Antonio River as particularly pleasant for morning and evening walks with pets. Campers should be aware of fire ant hills throughout some sites, requiring careful monitoring of pets. During summer months, the heat can be intense for animals, so early morning or evening exercise is recommended. The town of Goliad offers additional resources within a short drive, including veterinary services and pet supplies for emergency needs.

Nice grounds. Stocked fishing pond. Full rv hookups. They have a dog park, playground, and a propane station on site.
Randomly found this campground. There are some shaded spots and some wide open areas. All of the rv area is behind locked gates with codes that change. There is a police car that patrols the area. There are trails, a dog park, the lake, wildlife, an event center up the road, a small ball field and .... Wish I had found this earlier in our travels
The manager is very friendly. They have laundry. They provide quarters for purchase. They have a fishing dock off the campground. A pool. And a dog park.
The sites are back-to-back. Not long enough to park both my truck and 5th wheel. I had to park my truck offsite. Concrete parking pad with grassy lawn. Otherwise clean and taken care of. Small laundry room with old machines. Small dog park.
This New Holiday Campground is really getting off the ground. Staff is amazing and very welcoming. They have great amenities and the campsites are great sized. Facilities are clean and nice upgrades. Laundry on site and machines work really well and its open 24/7. They have a camp store that is really great and well stocked. They are very dog friendly with a dog park and daily trash pick up at your site. The kids loved the pool and us parents enjoyed the hot tub.
A minimum of water and electric at every site (which we don’t need) The feel is more community park with camping. There is a 12 mile equestrian trail which bikes are allowed to ride on. Other flat trails are around the park and water. It is completely full this Saturday and there are lots of families, music and fires burning. I do not consider this to be a serene wilderness/wildlife area but a Camping area full of activities. Looks like a great place for a family reunion or wedding. Complete with frisbee golf, boating, swimming, dog park, playground and more. The grounds are very well kept.
Not my favorite way to camp, but the price was right. We were pretty cramped but the whole place was very quiet. There weren't any kids at all, other than ours. Dog friendly environment but none running loose at all. There was a friendly peacock wandering about who loved grapes.
Easy parking, pull through spots.
The laundry room was very clean which was much appreciated. $1.75 per washer & dryer.
We were parked right across from the owners/manager which was fine, just felt a bit like we were watched. Mind you, we're used to being in the middle of no where though😂. Owners helped us park and have been super friendly the whole time.
There's a small dog park across from the rv park, which was full of burrs and mosquitoes unfortunately. Apparently they are both bad this year.
It was only 0.4 miles to the water and 1 mile to rockport beach- we biked and walked.. it was a nice area to explore. Photo is from rockport beach taken in November.
large well spaced out campsites. Allows pets. Quiet. Great area if you like to fish. Only downside was lots of bugs, especially mosquitoes.
We travel 6 months a year in a 42 ft. 5th wheel. We often travel with my mom and dad and their pup, who have a Class A. We made reservations for 2 sites for 3 months (January, February and March of 2023) last June, 2022. I advised the reservation desk up front that we travel with 4 small rescue pups and was told it was not an issue. She required detailed information on each pup, which included name, age, weight and breed. Within an hour of our arrival, we were informed that RJourney had a 2 dog limit. I advised Becky, the interim manager, that I advised reservation desk last June that we have 4 pups and that I had given detailed information. We were allowed to stay but received many snide and negative comments during our stay from other RVer’s. Our pups are walked on 6 foot leashes ( no 15 foot retractable leashes for us) and are never outside without being leashed and with us. We did walk the park several times a day with our pups and my parents pup often joined us.
There are many cats that also reside in the RV park and are allowed to roam freely outside without restraint and their poop is not picked up. In most of the parks we have stayed in, there are requirements for cats to be leashed or have an outdoor cat “tent.”
There is a wonderful club house for those that choose to join in activities, such as cards, pool, pot luck, bingo etc. That is not our thing, but we did use the outdoor pool and it was very nice. It didn’t take very long to realize that there was a lot of drama, passive aggressive behavior, and infighting occurring in the park and with management. Our neighbors around us were wonderful and we just interacted with them.
There are lots of issues of junk and hoarding around rigs, especially in the older area of the park. It was not unusual to see refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and tons of totes and large containers sitting under and around rigs.
The roads in the park are in terrible shape. Tons of huge cracks and potholes. Very poor lighting on parks roads at night. Huge risks of trips and falls for older folks. RJourney did come in during our stay and lay tar and chat in the parking lot and and road beside club house but stopped after those repairs.
When the wind blows out of the north, there is a horrible sewage smell those on the wrong side of the north wind.
The free WI-FI only lasts a week and then you have to sign up. Not very workable for us.
Goliad State Park's camping areas accommodate pets across all campgrounds, with visitors reporting clean facilities and proper spaces for dog walking. Multiple camping loops include Jacales, Karankawa, Longhorn, and Vaquero areas, each offering water and electric hookups at pet-friendly sites. The sheltered sites provide ceiling fans inside, helping keep bugs away from food while camping with dogs. Park regulations require pets to remain leashed at all times on the premises. Sites typically include picnic tables, fire rings, and shade pavilions. Local campgrounds are searchable through The Dyrt's listings. The bathrooms and shower facilities remain consistently clean, though some visitors note the women's restroom has only one shower.
Trails along the San Antonio River provide excellent walking opportunities for dogs and their owners. The park connects to a bike trail that runs to downtown Goliad, allowing visitors to explore with leashed pets beyond the campground. Shady walking paths offer relief during hot Texas days when exercising pets. Historic sites within the park, including a 16th-century Spanish mission, are accessible to visitors with leashed dogs. Campers should be prepared for insects, particularly ants, which are common in this region. Fire ant hills have been observed throughout some campsites, requiring pet owners to monitor their animals carefully. The park's quiet and dark atmosphere creates a peaceful environment for campers and their pets, though occasional noise from nearby roads has been reported.
