    Goose Island State Park Campground

    Right on the Bay

We stayed 14 nights in one of the Bay sites. Really enjoyed the view and sunsets. We watched Dolphins right in front of us every day. Pros: Bayfront site's view, easy in and out, easy set up, fishing, close to stores and restaurants, nice pavillion with picnic table at each site, Nice dock to fish off of and can fish right at your site. Clean restrooms. Pet friendly with 6ft leash rule. Cons: TTs and 5th wheels are supposed to back in. This causes the pavillion to be on the wrong side. You open your door to your neighbors pavillion. Motorhomes, Cs & Bs can pull in so the pavillion is on the correct side however the W&E hookups are then on the wrong side. (They are working to fix this issue) Wooded section is not big rig friendly. Low hanging branches and many sites difficult to back in to. (We didn't stay in this section, we drove through without 5th wheel) The air boats. There are 3-5 different ones that come in and out ALL day every day starting around 6:30am. They are so loud they vibrate the campers.

    Wilderness Oaks RV Resort

Okay but next to airport with poor park drainage

The previous reviewer is correct about the airport noise.

    Pros:

    • Our RV site was a back-in with plenty of room on a concrete pad with a picnic table. We were in the back row.

    • Our site did not have trees hanging over like a lot of sites (we have solar panels).

    Cons:

    • The campground wifi sucked. We relied more on our own Verizon wifi hotspot (we never assume park wifi is good).

    • Next to airport.

    • RV park, especially on eastern half, has seriously poor drainage. We were trapped in our RV lot, unable to leave, because the water was too deep for our Class A to go through without damage/mess of some sort.

Wintered here Jan, Feb, and Mar 2025. Spend a little more and get a water front site. Concrete pads, nice FHU stations. Large clubhouse. Two shower and laundry facilities. Fishing. Clear water. Gated. Pool and hot tub. Mail and package delivery free of charge - pick up at clubhouse. Close to town.

    Goose Island State Park Campground

    Windy and beautiful

We hit some big wind 3/21/22. We were in the beach front with waves crashing over so we got luck and moved to the wooded area. While there are some low branches- I was able to carefully maneuver into #125 with my tall fifth wheel. But it was close. Lots of birds, deer, and fishing. I see attraction of the beach front, but the wooded area is really nice with private sites, camp for grills, tables and….trees for shade.

    Victoria City RV Park

    Riverside RV Park, Victoria, Texas

The city of Victoria operates a very nice RV park adjoining the city’s recreational complex. 18 pull through sites have full hookups and are generously spaced. Cost is $12.00 per night and all sites are “first come, first served”. 50 amp service is available on each site.

The park is located within a park and adjacent to the park is a paved walking/biking path that if taken to the south, leads over to the Guadalupe River. Along the river is a 18 hole City golf course, minor league baseball field, duck pond and a children’s museum. All beautiful landscaped and maintained by the city of Victoria.

I highly recommend this park and I would certainly stay here again in the future!!

    Goose Island State Park Campground

    LOVED this campground

I’ve been to about 10 different campgrounds this year on several different states. Goose island state park is by far the best. This time we stayed in the wooded area. I didn’t think I would like it (I loved the waterfront sites) but I loved it. The sites are a good distance apart and have new paved driveways that are very level. There is a pole for hanging lightning and a campfire pit. There is electricity and water. We are in site 115 and I have cell service which makes me very happy. I don’t think the site numbers 200’s have cell service as they are father in. It’s quiet and dark at night. The site has woods and trees behind so it’s very private. It can hold a pretty big rig. Ours is only 26 ft but it can hold much bigger. This site is fabulous. The weather is great and there are tons of things to do in the area. Book it! We are coming back.

    Taylor Oaks RV Park

Not my favorite way to camp but the price was right

Not my favorite way to camp, but the price was right. We were pretty cramped but the whole place was very quiet. There weren't any kids at all, other than ours. Dog friendly environment but none running loose at all. There was a friendly peacock wandering about who loved grapes.

    Easy parking, pull through spots.

The laundry room was very clean which was much appreciated. $1.75 per washer & dryer.

We were parked right across from the owners/manager which was fine, just felt a bit like we were watched. Mind you, we're used to being in the middle of no where though😂. Owners helped us park and have been super friendly the whole time.

There's a small dog park across from the rv park, which was full of burrs and mosquitoes unfortunately. Apparently they are both bad this year.

It was only 0.4 miles to the water and 1 mile to rockport beach- we biked and walked.. it was a nice area to explore. Photo is from rockport beach taken in November.

    Hub City RV Park

Very nice city park - Hidden Gem alert!

We came into this park on the 4th day of the big Texas freeze this past winter. Unfortunate for them,  pipe broke and they were out of water at the time. But it was fixed a couple days after we arrived.

Now as for the park. It has a section of 30 amp services which are in some shades and are on concrete, a newer area in the park has been created which for the most part is in a field, with new 50 amp service and are on grass. All sites have water and sewer as well. There are seasonal/annuals in the park I would say about 25% of 30amp service is. If you choose to be one, you need to go to the town and get a permit otherwise there is a two week limit to camp here.

We use ATT on Nomad Internet and Verizon & T-Mobile on our phones, ATT Wi-Fi was 4 bars and our phones were each 3 bars and no issues with any of the services,

There is  bath house located in the center of the park as you come into the entrance. The park is on a "park and hook up and then pay" system. After setting up to go to the front of the bathhouse and leave a check or cash into a box. The city of Yoakum maintains the park and it is well kept. Garbage dumpster is free and available as well. There is a playground for kids as well  as right next to a full size golf course. So you could get into your golf cart and right over to the clubhouse while never getting on a roadway.  The cost is very cheap, we paid $13 a night with senior discount, regular price is $15  That is FHU!! You will hear a plan or two during the day as there is a small airport down the street, but the low flying small planes are not too disturbing. The town of Yoakum is 5 minutes from your location and it has a Family dollar and a H.E.B as well as a few cool shops.

If your ever out that way and need a place to stay that is friendly, clean and quiet for the most part, you won't be disappointed.

Guide to Fannin

Camping near Fannin, Texas offers several options alongside the Guadalupe River and Lavaca Bay. The region has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters, receiving approximately 40 inches of annual rainfall. Flooding can occur after heavy rains in the low-lying areas, particularly along riverfront properties.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: The Guadalupe at Cuero RV Park sits directly on the Guadalupe River, providing excellent fishing access. "Less than a mile off the highway, this RV Park feels further as it rests along the Guadalupe's slow moving water," notes Jake C.

Beach activities: Magnolia Beach RV Park offers proximity to coastal recreation. "Nice beach, store, tavern, and marina nearby," mentions Diane C. The park serves as a convenient base for those wanting to explore the Gulf Coast.

Local history exploration: Stay at Angels In Goliad RV Park to learn about the area's past. Dennis B. recommends you "make sure to learn about the history of the town from them," referring to the knowledgeable hosts who share insights about local historical sites.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many parks maintain well-kept grounds and modern amenities. At Angels In Goliad RV Park, campers appreciate the "gravel pads" and "new hookups" according to Shiner T., who notes the overall cleanliness of the park.

Fishing ponds: Southbound RV Park and Cabins features a stocked fishing pond for guests. Jeremy C. mentions the "nice grounds" and specifically calls out the "stocked fishing pond" among the park's amenities.

Water features: Texas Lakeside RV Resort centers around a large pond. Curtis K. describes it as a "Beautiful Gated RV Park, well maintained lawn, large club house with pool. Large catch and release fish pond in the middle."

What you should know

Reservation policies: Victoria City RV Park operates differently from many other parks in the area. "All sites are 'first come, first served'. 50 amp service is available on each site," explains Bradley H. The park does not accept reservations.

Cell service quality: Texas Lakeside RV Resort provides reliable connectivity for those needing to stay connected. James P. notes the park offers "mail and package delivery free of charge - pick up at clubhouse," suggesting good infrastructure for longer stays.

Site spacing issues: Campgrounds in the region vary significantly in site size and privacy. Kenny at Gateway to the Gulf RV Park mentions sites are "back-to-back. Not long enough to park both my truck and 5th wheel. I had to park my truck offsite."

Tips for camping with families

Recreational facilities: Some parks offer dedicated spaces for children. Southbound RV Park and Cabins provides "a dog park, playground, and a propane station on site," according to Jeremy C., making it suitable for families with both kids and pets.

Budget-friendly options: Victoria City RV Park offers affordable rates with basic amenities. Kai E. confirms this value: "Full hookups for $12 a day is definitely not a bad price at all. No bathrooms, no shade. Still worth the price though."

Activity planning: Look for parks near multiple attractions. Texas Lakeside RV Resort sits "close to town" as James P. mentions, providing families with access to both onsite recreation and nearby community resources.

Tips from RVers

Dump station access: For RV camping near Fannin, Texas, knowing where to empty tanks is essential. According to Wayne R., Magnolia Beach RV Park is a "great place to dump, fill and charge batteries before or after free camping at Magnolia beach."

Monthly rates: Extended stays can be economical at certain parks. At Magnolia Beach RV Park, one camper notes, "For only $400/mo, everything included, seems like a bargain," mentioning the free Wi-Fi with good bandwidth.
