Best RV Parks & Resorts near Comfort, TX

Old River Road RV Resort near Comfort offers full hookup sites with 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections. The resort features level gravel pads that accommodate large motorhomes and fifth wheels with adequate spacing between sites. "Sites are pretty small. Our rig is a 43 foot toy hauler with a patio and it barely fit on the pull through site. There was barely any room for my tow vehicle up front," noted one camper about a nearby Fredericksburg park. Alamo Fiesta RV Resort in Boerne provides similar amenities with pull-through sites designed for big rigs, while HTR TX Hill Country in Kerrville maintains 66 RV sites with full hookups and can accommodate larger motorhomes.

Reservations are strongly recommended for RV camping in the Hill Country, particularly during spring wildflower season and fall when temperatures moderate. Most parks in the region maintain good cell service, with reviews indicating Verizon coverage ranging from 3-4 bars at most locations. Dump stations are available at nearly all parks, though some older facilities may have limited sewer connections at individual sites. Pet policies vary between properties, with several parks offering designated dog areas. Propane is available for purchase at select locations including Old River Road and Alamo Fiesta. According to a review, "The park itself is nice and clean. Staff for the most part is friendly and nice. RV sites are tight in the daily/weekly sites and parking your 40+ foot rig and tow vehicle in the spot are probably not happening."

    Mission City RV Park

    Cream of the Crop

You don't get a much nicer RV park than this in a major city. It hits all of the marks: mass transit at your doorstep; pool, laundry, showers and a gift shop at the entrance; easy pull-through, level sites; picnic tables at each site; quaint southwestern style! This is a nice park for the overnight or the long stay, and it has easy access to major highways.

Hill Country RV Resort & Cottage Rentals

Nice Park with little room between sites

The park it’s self is nice and clean.  Staff for the most part is friendly and nice.  The pool is a hopping place over summer break and on the weekends when it’s warm.  RV sites are tight in the daily/weekly sites and parking your 40+ foot rig and tow vehicle in the spot are probably not happening.  They do have over flow parking and depending on your site it could be a good walk.

They are pet friendly and have several dog parks and potty areas through out the park.  The laundry room is like no other I’ve ever been too.  All machines operate via debit/credit cards, no more quarters!!

Over all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this park for monthly stays or in one of their top tier sites for daily/weekly stays.

The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park

Tight Park in an Open Field

Pros Just 3 miles from the popular downtown shopping district

Level gravel site with mini picnic table and fire ring

Very nice rally hall, group fire pit and group pavilion

Very nice and very clean shower and toilet facilities

Combo code required to access toilets and showers

Majority of sites are pull thru

    $1.50 on-site laundry

    Residential size hot tub

    Small pool

    Volleyball net

    Small Playground

100% occupancy during our 2 night stay

    Park WiFi

    4 bars Verizon signal

    Cons

Just an open field. No shade. This is not even a vineyard!

    Very tight check in parking

Lots and lots of tall speed bumps throughout park

Small tree between site prevent our awning deployment

Sites tightly packed together; Our sewer connection was inches from next site’s picnic table!

Most of the time during our stay in site 80, there was a horrific odor from the sewer lift station 100 ft away

    Not dark sky friendly.

Street lights and utility pedestal lights.

Initially assigned site was changed without any notice so our request to be sited away from a street light not honored

Significant traffic noise from Hwy 87 (even at night) and we were half way down the park Unable to access all 24 cable TV channels; could only connect to 6 channels.

    Alsatian RV Resort

    Exceptional Customer Service

This campground(CG)/RV resort has exceptional customer service. We were on a waitlist to add another day to our reservation. They proactively called us back about a month later to let us know they could accommodate another night’s stay. We followed the website instructions to come in so we could take a right turn into the RV Resort, which is a 1/4 mile from the golf course entrance. A very short rig could take a left turn. The gate was down so we called the number listed on the gate and we were let in for a very pleasant check-in. We were assigned pull-through site 406 with FHUs. There’s a slope off the front of the site, so I needed to center the rig on the level part of the cement pad. By doing this I needed 20’ of sewer hose to get from my rear black tank to the sewer. The CG was quiet with no kids running around as this is a 55+ CG. The guest internet was below average for a park this size, but we have Starlink. We got 3 bars on Verizon. Most of the campers here were seasonal with license plates from CO, MN, and WI. Several of the campers we talked to didn’t golf and came here to get away from cold weather. We did not see any overnighters during our four-day stay but this CG is fairly far from the San Antonio area interstates. CG was well-kept with no junky sites. They have a laundry room, but a couple of machines were not working. The sites were decently spaced and very long. Many reviewers called the sites spacious. The sites were not as far apart or as large when compared to many of the State Parks or Corps of Engineers CGs we’ve stayed. Get pizza from Luigi's Italian Restaurant in nearby Castroville as it’s in the top 5 pizzas we’ve had as we traveled through all lower 48 states. We enjoyed our stay, including playing their challenging golf course, and would definitely return.

    Kerrville-Schreiner Park

    Good family friendly park

This park was close to a local event we wanted to attend, and we were very happy with it and will definitely go back. The first row is all pull through sites with full hookups, although we do have a shorter trailer (24’) and I’m not sure how much luck you would have with a truly big one. Most sites had a stone or wood picnic table, shady trees, and a fire ring. We saw a deer, squirrels, and even a herd of blackbuck antelope. Our particular site was number 121 and it had a feral cat shelter, which we saw several of the cats and one caretaker stop by. There are hiking trails and the park itself is minutes from many nearby attractions. My husband checked out the camp bathrooms for me for this review and he said they were smaller but clean and acceptable.

Overall a comfortable little park, sites not overcrowded together, and reasonably priced. Good job Kerrville.

    Fort Sam Houston Army RV

    Good trip!

All the sites are pull-through with full hookups(30 and 50 amp), and spacious enough for even the largest rigs. The grass was freshly mowed, and the park was clean. Staff were super friendly. There's a decent dog run at the back, propane available for purchase on-site, and two wash houses with washers and dryers. A large playground keeps the little ones entertained. Despite many full-timers, there were still plenty of open spots. It was very quiet—aside from the occasional train, which isn’t noticeable with the A/C running. Would be a 5-star stay if there were just a bit more shade [geometry dash 3d](https://geometrydash3d.com).

Guide to Comfort

The Hill Country around Comfort, Texas sits at approximately 1,400 feet above sea level with summer temperatures often exceeding 90°F. Winter nights can drop below freezing, while spring and fall provide moderate temperatures in the 70-80°F range. Many campgrounds in the region experience heavy weekend bookings during wildflower season (March-April) when bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush bloom along roadsides.

What to do

Swimming and wading access: At HTR TX Hill Country in Kerrville, campers enjoy direct water access. "We tent camped for several days here. I stayed at turtle falls. It was so peaceful listening to the water all night," notes one visitor who appreciated the water features. The park includes walking paths along the Guadalupe River.

Wildlife viewing: Many campgrounds feature regular wildlife sightings. At Thousand Trails Medina Lake, "Deer walk around the park all day and night. Dog friendly even with 'aggressive' dog breeds," according to one camper. Morning and evening hours offer the best viewing opportunities for native wildlife.

Explore nearby towns: Fredericksburg attractions sit just 15 minutes from Oakwood RV Resort. "Great location in Fredericksburg! Nice pool," notes one reviewer. The German heritage town features wineries, shopping, and the National Museum of the Pacific War.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Old River Road RV Resort receives consistent praise for site size. "Very enjoyable campsite. We stayed for a month in March/April. Spacious sites. Plenty of options for big rigs," reports a camper. The resort layout provides more room between sites than many competitors in the area.

Clean facilities: Bathroom cleanliness stands out at multiple properties. At Travelers World RV Resort, reviewers specifically mention "Clean grounds, clean bathroom/shower. Friendly, helpful staff." This San Antonio park maintains consistent cleaning schedules for all facilities.

Water features: Access to rivers and swimming areas ranks high for summer visitors. One camper at Thousand Trails Medina Lake highlighted "Large RV Park. Large lake Frontage. Get there early. first-come-first-served policy. Sites are good size. Most have plenty of shade." The lakefront locations fill quickly during summer months.

What you should know

Size limitations: Some rv parks near Comfort, Texas have tight spacing. At Oakwood RV Resort, a camper noted "This must be an older RV park because I have never seen sites so small. The site we are parked in is long enough for our travel trailer. The truck is parked cross ways at the front of trailer and it partially in drive."

Reservation requirements: Most properties require advance booking, especially during peak seasons. Spring wildflower season (March-April) and fall (October-November) fill fastest. Sites at Al's Hideaway Cabin and RV Rentals in Pipe Creek feature "Grassy space between each RV space with room to enjoy without being to close to neighbors RV," but still require advance booking.

Construction impacts: Highway construction affects access at some properties. At Alamo Fiesta RV Resort, a visitor cautioned: "The highway in front of the campground is under construction, so where it would normally be and easy off easy on, it's a little tricky getting in and out with the bigger rigs."

Tips for camping with families

Pool availability: Several Comfort, Texas rv parks offer swimming pools for children. "They have 2 swimming pools, a splash pad, 2 play grounds, a fully covered and fenced basketball court and an awesome dog park with agility items," notes one camper about Old River Road RV Resort.

Playground access: Multiple properties feature dedicated children's areas. At Thousand Trails Medina Lake, facilities include "amenities such as a huge pool, playgrounds, dog runs, restrooms, laundry, trails, boat launch, community center, games, basketball, pickle ball, mini golf, and so much more!"

Safety considerations: Some campgrounds near Comfort have specific safety concerns. At Travelers World RV Resort, one camper warned: "This park is in a bad part of town. When we pulled into our site the lady next door told us to make sure we lock up our bikes. They have had theirs stolen in the past."

Tips from RVers

Site selection: At Stonewall Motor Lodge, experienced RVers recommend specific spots. "We stayed in spot #4 which was closest to the road and had the most space, privacy and tree cover. Gravel spots with full hookups. Decent but sometimes spotty Wi-Fi from the motel," noted one reviewer about this Fredericksburg-area property.

Laundry facilities: Travelers World RV Resort receives high marks for laundry options. "The place that surprised me was just how nice the laundry room was. With little people accidents are expected but they all happened same time so had to wash some items. The laundry room was super nice 8 very clean washers and 8 dryers."

Water pressure: Some campgrounds have unusually high water pressure. As one camper at Travelers World RV Resort noted, "High water pressure; you'll need a pressure regulator. They sell them at the office!" This prevents damage to RV plumbing systems.
