      Lake Palo Pinto RV Park

      lots of potential

I came in on a Monday after making my online reservations for several days in early January. The office was closed midday, but I ran into a woman who said the camp host was deer hunting.. There were lots of empty sites so I pulled into one of several with a great view of the lake and power station. There was goose shit everywhere. Rain and snow was predicted. The ground looked solid, but certainly could use some more gravel and leveling. Eventually, I got an email that I should move to another site where it would be dryer. That site did not have the height clearance my rig needed so I stayed where I was, I stayed through the shit storm and left after a week. It was very quiet with very little traffic.

      Nice city park

Very quiet park, with water and electric at every site. No dump station that we found. Cost was $15, and you have to drive back into town to city hall to pay. We were there in the winter, but the city park is very nice for such a small town.

      Quiet and serene

Camped here on a weekday in November and we pretty much had it all to ourselves. Clean facilities with toilets and showers. Deer roamed free and the lake was peaceful with a small dock for boating and fishing. Enjoyed it here.

      Off-season boondock paradise

One week stay during the first week of December D&D south. Weather: highs in the 60s, lows in the 40s. Covered picnic tables, grills, fire pits, trash cans at most sites. Restrooms spaced throughout the park. Massive trail system throughout the area. Excellent service for school/remote work. Ideal for tents, vans, truck campers, and small trailers. No cost during May-September. No water or dump in the parks, but there are showers. There are sites directly on the water and up in the hills. Would return!

      Fantastic Little Find

I car camped here while passing through TX in a tent site, and I found the peninsula-like campground gorgeous! Lake views, deer, and a well-kept bathhouse just feet away. Spots are close together with few trees around, although few others were around.

      Good for a layover

There are a limited number of sites, about three. When I arrived, there were none available, but someone cruised through and wanted to chat with me, by the time he finished a site opened up. This was actually my first municipal park stay, so I was a  bit nervous and eventually decided to move on. But the park is as described and it is on an attractive lake. In the end, it's just a place to park for a night unless your have something to do. Main downside is that you may or may not get a place to park.

5 Public Use Camping Areas for free

Tent camping areas in all 5 with shelters, grill, and picnic tables, many waterside. Public Area 4 and 6 have RV pads (which they do charge $10 to use in the Summer) with shelters, grill, and picnic tables, and many are waterside. Public Area 5 has grass pull thru RV parking. All 5 have bathroom facilities with running water and flush toilets. We parked at #5, also known as Bug Beach and we had the place to ourselves, with the exception of a herd of deer late afternoon. Beautiful scenery and exceptionally clean campground facilities.

Beautiful park! The lady working the gate should have her picture in the dictionary under customer service. Very pleasant & welcoming!

The site has lots of shade trees with a view of the lake (not lakeside). Sites are not on top of each other, but no type of barrier between sites. Water had a terrible smell.

Despite it being the beginning of spring break in Texas & the amount of people here, it is fairly quiet.

If you’re camping with others, there are 3 double RV sites on this end of the park.

Would definitely come back here again. — at Copperas Creek Park.

Stayed her for three weeks. It really is a nice spot for being free, but because the locals don't pick up their trash, it may not be available because of it. There is new manager taking over, and according to the one worker I talked with, I am not sure how much longer this will be available for us nomads.

      Great free spot

We had a great experience at this free site - there are 4 designated camp sites each with a little pullout, fire ring, covered picnic table, and large gravel parking area (probably room for 4+ cars on each). Overall very quiet with a few people driving by and a bit of a hike to the bathroom from the camping area, but it did have running water so can’t complain.

      Large camping areas!

There are several sites here. Most of the campgrounds look fairly well taken care of. I'm new to this dispersed camping, so I don't have a lot to compare it to.

I'd stay here again. Large campsites, flat area for tents. I only took one star off because I don't feel the view is all that great. At least from the mountain to one last night in New Mexico! And because it's obvious people come here to party. I'm here on a Monday. I suspect the weekend is different.

Well spaced campsites and well maintained CG

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow. We were in site 49 for just one night in late March. The campground is nice and well maintained. The sites are fairly well spaced, particularly for a private CG, which was nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a bit of road noise from I-20.

AT&T coverage was excellent, with 5 Bars of 5G service and speeds up to 10 MB/s. We had an unobstructed view of the sky and so we were able to receive all 3 SW Dish satellites and the Resort WiFi was decent with~2.5 MB/s. We didn’t try to load any OTA channels or set up Starlink.
