    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Poinsett State Park Campground permits pets throughout its camping areas with sites featuring picnic tables, fire rings, and water hookups. Campers can select from drive-in or walk-in sites with tent, RV, and cabin accommodations available year-round. The campground maintains clean bathroom facilities with showers that are regularly serviced, though hot water can be limited during busy periods. Nearby Santee Lakes KOA and Falcons Nest FamCamp also welcome pets with the added benefit of full hookup sites for RVs. Palmetto Shores RV Resort provides pet-friendly glamping options alongside traditional camping. Most pet-friendly sites require dogs to remain leashed at all times, with several campers noting that park hosts strictly enforce this policy at Poinsett State Park.

The hiking trail network at Poinsett State Park offers extensive pet exercise options with well-marked paths suitable for dogs on leashes. Many trails connect directly to campsites, with site 30 featuring a private trail access point ideal for morning walks with pets. The park includes a pond where visitors can rent paddleboats and observe local wildlife including turtles and small alligators from a safe distance. Dogs should be closely monitored during summer months when ticks and biting insects become more prevalent. Cellular service can be limited or non-existent in camping sections, which may impact emergency veterinary access. The campground's remote location means no nearby stores or services, requiring visitors to bring all necessary pet supplies. Most campers find the secluded atmosphere worth the drive despite the rough access roads leading to the park entrance.

      Outside Inn Campground

Great Family Trip Especially for the kiddos!!

This was our second visit to Outside Inn Campground and both times we stayed in the camper they offer as a rental. It’s the first thing you basically see when pull into the campground and when we come back next time that’s where we want to stay again. It’s perfect for a family with multiple kids and for us we had 3 adults and 3 kids and we couldn’t have been more comfortable. The owners Chris and Clair are just the best. They are so accommodating and always there if you need anything. The kids really enjoy the animals and activities they provide, especially feeding the goats when they were babies. The facilities are in exceptional condition and especially if you may have forgotten something“fire wood for us” they have that available to you as well. We can’t wait for our next trip back and are really looking forward to seeing the new changes the have in progress like the Glamping Tents and pond. Overall this was one of our best experiences as a family camping in South Carolina. Thank you again Clair for being present and patient with Avery and Albie while they were around the animals! We look forward to seeing y’all again soon!

      Lynches River County Park

      Wonderful Park

My wife and I were looking fora tent-camping place along the I-95 corridor in South Carolina during spring break and weren't having much luck.  We decided to stay here and it was a great choice.  They are doing a lot of upgrades to make it a place to actual stay and enjoy with a splash pad, climbing wall, dog park and horse stalls.  The RV/Tent sites were all sandy and shaded and very spacious.  The bathrooms were very clean with two showers in each (MF).   We stayed there on a Saturday night and had the place to ourselves.  The next morning we hiked the nature trail and wetlands boardwalk and other trails on a hour-long walk before hitting the road.  Looking forward to another stay when we pass that way next.

CrossRoads Coach Resort at the ROB

      Very Pristine Gated RV Resort

A very nice attendant greeted us as we approached the gate and opened it so we did not have to exit our RV. The sites are very spacious and are staggered so each RV is not looking into another. The Resort is located within walking distance to some restaurants in the quaint town of Lake City, SC. We travel with 3 dogs and appreciate the gated dog park. We would most definitely stay here again if in the area.

      Sesquicentennial State Park Campground

In the middle of Columbia SC

Built to celebrate the Sesquicentennial of South Carolina in the 30’s . At one time on the furthest outskirts of Columbia SC. It is now firmly in the muddle of the Metro area. Plenty of trailer sites. Tent site and primitive camping. Has recreational areas. Restaurants and shopping nearby

      Lynches River County Park

      Clean quiet and spacious

I was impressed by the cleanliness and the amenities available at this campground. There’s a dog park, splash pad and climbing wall(hours depend on the time of year) There are also walking trails and a way to access the water.

Lots of room at the site so even if it was busy, still wouldn’t be too close to neighbors!

CrossRoads Coach Resort at the ROB

      Great, except for the TRAINS!

The.grounds are immaculate, the showers and laundry (Free) are well maintained and the dog park has a water fountain for the dogs. It's within walking distance to the various  restaurants in town .

A great park...except for the trains.  The rails are within one block of the campground and the trains run frequently, day and night and are use their horns A LOT.

If you are a sound sleeper and have a really loud AC in your rig, enjoy the place, otherwise, make it a short stay.

    Guide to Pinewood

Poinsett State Park is situated in the Sandhills region of South Carolina, with terrain that transitions between the Midlands and Coastal Plain. The park features a unique mix of mountain and coastal plain plants due to its location at 300 feet elevation. Weather conditions vary seasonally with humid summers reaching 90°F+ and mild winters rarely dropping below freezing. The park covers 1,000 acres with hiking and biking trails that connect to the surrounding Manchester State Forest.

    What to do

Mountain biking trails: Several campgrounds provide access to biking networks, with Poinsett State Park offering dedicated mountain biking paths. "This is a good place to stay to mountain bike, there are two trails in Poinsett and Manchester State Forest is nearby," notes Jodi B. from Poinsett State Park Campground.

Fishing opportunities: Lake Marion offers excellent fishing access at multiple locations. "Great place to stay to fish boat or explore the lake. Bathroom were cleaned. There's a little store on site. Boat ramp fuel and marina on site. Fishing pier to fish off," reports Briggs B. from Taw Caw Campground.

Nature trails: Wooded hiking paths range from easy to moderate difficulty. "The hiking trails that we went on were good, but it was too warm to do a lot of hiking. Instead, we visited the park office for ice cream!" shares Trina W. about her experience at Poinsett State Park.

    What campers like

Lake access: Multiple campgrounds offer direct water access. "Bring your boat, Kayak or canoe and beach it at your campsite. Not all sites are water front so reserve them while they last," advises Raymond from Taw Caw Campground about the pet-friendly options.

Secluded sites: Some campgrounds offer more private camping spots. "We stayed here for our son's first birthday, in campsite 30! It was beautiful and we felt like we had plenty of privacy. Our site had a trail attached to the back of it which was really nice for hiking," reports Alisa H. about Santee Lakes KOA.

Clean facilities: Many campgrounds maintain well-serviced restrooms. "The bathrooms were well kept, and cleaned every morning while we were there. Our neighbors were super friendly and helpful with all the camper questions we had!" shares Katherine about her stay at The Lakeshore Campground.

    What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Summer brings intense heat and insects to the area. "I prefer to stay at Poinsett State Park in the fall, winter, or spring as it is located in the sandhills and it can be pretty hot and buggy in the summer," advises Jodi B.

Road conditions: Some access roads present challenges. "The park road is very narrow and uneven with lots of large pot holes. The road to the campground is a little better, but also very narrow," warns Jason F. about Poinsett State Park.

Campsite sizing: Sites vary considerably in size and setup. "Long RVs and trailers may have trouble with the trees and turns of the campground," notes Lindsey M. from Outside Inn Campground.

    Tips for camping with families

Animal encounters: Some campgrounds feature farm animals for children. "Small RV park which also has a lot of animals. There is a great trail walk and lots of animals bunnies, pigs, donkeys, chickens, goats and a guinea fowl!" shares Rosie G. about Outside Inn Campground.

Playground access: Several dog-friendly campgrounds near Pinewood have play areas. "There was boat access, a playground, nature trails and everyone was so friendly!" reports Jessie N. about her family's stay at Santee State Park.

Swimming options: Lakes provide swimming opportunities during warm months. "The lake access had a beach area that the kids (3 and 1) loved to play at and there was no rocks around that area or dangerous drop offs," explains Katherine about The Lakeshore Campground.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection: Choose sites based on your rig size and needs. "We were right on the lake. Easy park to walk and explore," shares Mary G. about Santee State Park Campground.

Utility hookups: RV sites offer varying levels of services. "For our first time camping in our RV the staff was very friendly and helpful. The crew escorted us to our campsite, made sure we where happy. This was done with anyone who came in to camp," notes Georgia R. about Santee Lakes KOA.

Delivery services: Some campgrounds offer convenient services for RVers. "They deliver firewood and pizza. The pizza was excellent. Customer service is outstanding! My dogs are loving it!" states stefny A. about the pet-friendly amenities at Santee Lakes KOA.
