We stayed in a yurt over Christmas and the heater in the Yurt did not heat sufficiently. We tried to get it fixed by staff but there wasn’t anyone who could help.
We were near the lift station and the alarm was sounding off throughout our stay. Also no one remedied this.
We loved this campground. Hiking and fishing at lake 50 yards away, near the light house, Off Highway vehicle park, beaches, super clean, warm showers, and good size spaces.
Clean, well maintained. Love the fog horn in the distance. Nice easy trails, many paved. I prefer a little more space between me and my neighbors.
Stayed 3 nights and the host allowed us to park 2 cars on a tent site. Facilities are clean and showers are hot and free
We enjoyed our selfs.we were close to beach neighbors were plesent as were the host.
Another huge Oregon state park campground. We were in loop H, which is the farthest loop from the entrance. These sites were closer together than the previous state park campground were we stayed, but our site was still fairly private with shrubs on one side and trees on the other. We arrived about 10 minutes after the 4pm check-in time, which was a first for us, and there was a short line to register. People also had to wait for us to back into our spot, but nobody was rude or anything. As this park is inside the Oregon Dunes National Recreation area, it was a point of entry for people to take their ORVs out and run around on the dunes. I was a bit worried that the sounds of motors revving and racing about wasn't going to stop, but it did. The last noise I heard was probably around 9pm. This park is very family oriented and kid friendly. We took our toddler to the playground, which she loved, but there were a lot of bigger kids there who were not being supervised so it was a little bit hectic. We finally had to leave to avoid our child getting bowled over by some elementary age boys who were not respecting or paying attention to other people's space. There was another family with a little guy too who left the playground shortly before us. I realize that the campground/state park can't control what ages of kids play at this playground and all kids are welcome to play there. Just be aware if you have toddler age littles, there is no separate area for smaller kids and not everyone supervises their children. This was a very nice campground and if you are a person who has ORVs, this would definitely be a great destination.
A great site for “light” camping, good location, felt very safe and perfect for kids with the playground. Very busy of course given its popularity.
This is a great campground for families with children. Campsites are pretty small but mostly secluded. There is a lot to do in the area. It’s pretty loud during the day from the amount of families and people.
We stayed here because no state parks were available in the surrounding area. It was our first time at a KOA, and usually we do not stay at RV parks. The people at checkin were super nice and welcoming. The sites are tight, although perhaps if you pay a premium you can get a water-facing or larger site. The restrooms were a bigger disappointment to me. The only bthrooms are 6 combo shower/toilet stalls for the entire campground. If people are showering there are no toilets available. Also, the bathrooms, while appearing somewhat clean are dated. The white shower curtains and one piece fiberglass shower surrounds were not as nice as some Oregon State Parks we stayed in. The campground was quiet with a very narrow trail down to a beach area on the Alsea river. Our neighbor's picnic table was about 4 feet from the side of our Class B. It was OK, and if you don't mind RV parks, it may be a good stop-over place (which is what we did). We won't choose this place again and will definitely think twice about booking another KOA (even though we bought a package to save 10%). For $83 not worth it in our book.
Camping trip to South Beach Park and enjoyed it great place the first night it drizzling rain but the weather changed and it was sunny for the rest of the week camped until the 7 and enjoyed
This campground is very clean, wonderful hot showers , and over all great
They lie to your face. Catherine Thagard is downright racist. She is claims policies that are not written. They threaten you, and are horifically aggressive. They bend their "rules" and policies dependent on "who" you are. Most importantly, they treat their employees horribly. Only stay here if you want to fund a racist, masaginistic company that willingly abuses their staff.
This place is close to Florence , it has nice showers and clean bathrooms, little noisy on the day time but if the noise doesn’t bother you can fully enjoy the wonders of this place.
Arrived late and was able to find our site quickly. Very quiet and relaxing.
We moved from Washington and started our journey in trailers at the KOA. It was a great experience. We stayed from December to May.
This KOA has potential but doesn't achieve it due to a lack of maintenance and site keeping rule enforcement.
Most of the RVs camped here look like they are incapable of moving, let alone being safe driven on highways. Many sites are filled with junk and/or trash. One site was filled with trash. Not trash in bags but empty food cans, soda can, apple cores... they simply opened the trailer door and threw trash outside. They had a large dog that they didn't pick up after and in addition to the trash, the site was littered with big piles of dog poop.
Don't come here expecting a nice campground, I haven't been RVing long but this one is the most depressing and disgusting campground that I have seen.
It's been a couple of years since my first review and I wanted to share new perspective. This time around we took our 9 year old grandson. He loved the play structure and we had the convenience of backing in to a site that was near the kids area. All went well till he fell out of a tree and broke his arm. 😂
Actually we enjoyed hikes to the beach, some whale watching and playing games when it rained. We were there over New Years Eve.
What surprised be is that the campground was FULL that week! And, it wasn't at all offensive. Still pretty quiet and great.
One negative: When rain came through some sites really flooded. This site did at the front of the truck. Not too badly, as we were still able to get into the truck.
We'll enjoy this campground again in the future.
General: 54-site campground (plus a hiker/biker camp) that is a mix of water/electric sites, no hookup sites, cabins, yurts, and deluxe yurts.
Site Quality: Camper pads are paved but most are not very long (I don’t remember when reserving if there was a length restriction, but I did not see any large Class As and doubt they would fit in any of the sites). Site desirability varies. We were lucky with Site 43 – foliage provided some privacy, and we had a view of Lake Marie from the back of our site. Most of the sites on the inside of the loop have no separation/privacy between them.
Activities: There is a one-mile hilly trail around Lake Marie, and there is access to the dunes. We were last at this campground 30 years ago with our two young children and remember they had a great time playing in the dunes, however, if people with OHVs were out on the dunes (which is popular), it would not have been good for young children. After fire restrictions on all non-coastal campgrounds we have recently stayed at, fires were allowed, and wood sales were available from 2 p.m.– 8 p.m.
This was an overnight stay for us as we made our way down the Oregon Coast, and we enjoyed our stay.
Large campground with a ton of spots. Pretty open in some spots, so may feel more like an RV park. Great for groups and easy setup with minimal leveling needed. Easy walk to the beach with lots of trails.
This last camping trip was my first to Honeyman. The campsites are pretty nice. Large enough, and most have at least some privacy by virtue of trees and bushes . There's a walking trail that goes to some dunes.
On the downside it was pretty noisy there. One night I had a lot of trouble sleeping between the freeway noise and noise from huge campers, it wasn't a great situation. Also, the bathrooms were not well maintained. Both sinks were clogged and there was no soap. The showers were a welcome amenity, but they too were poorly maintained.
I would consider coming back someday, just for something different, but prefer other places, like Beverly.
I pulled in before the ranger station closed, and was able to get a tent site for $24. Amenities are super clean, unlimited use showers and perfect spacing in between sites.
First time camping here in the last week in August 2023. The sites on the inside of each loop are exposed to one another as our site F19 was and are close together. The outside sites on each loop have more shade, more privacy and are much better to camp at. The week we were camping the campground was FULL. So over 350 camp sites were being used. It rained the first 3 days of our camp trip and when we arrived no camp fires were permitted. On the 4th day camp fires were allowed, but we only found out when we stopped a park ranger and asked. They said they would notify all campers about fires but did not. On the 4th day we road our bikes on some trails. This was very nice. On the 4th day W\we also went to the beach via the day use area because each loop access was from a 1/4 of a mile to 1/2 a mile hike to the beach. Very nice beach for sure! Newport was really close and handy to get food and other items. We stopped and ate at the South Beach Fish Market on the south end of Newport. Really great food but costly. We spent$40 for two meals. The campground bathrooms stalls were tight but clean. Showers were hot but some what dirty from all the mud after the rain. The wife said she would camp here again, I'm not so sure I would.
Campground is clean and quiet, camp sites are a good size our site had plenty of room to fit a 10 person tent plus tables and canopy. Rangers there are very nice and patrol regularly, one ranger (forgot his name) went above and beyond to help me, I needed an outlet to blow up an air mattress and he walked me around till he found a utility closet that had an outlet so thankful. Free hot showers and close to beach.
A large park with expansive grounds. Large area for kids, some good RV spots. We had water and electric and used the dump station. Lot of things to see and do here, or do nothing. This location lends to all. From here, we rode bikes into town, down to the beach on paths that connect to the park. We got a crab boat near by and hauled them in. We got our limit for the two of us, 24 Dungeness crabs in all. 4 never made it out of the parking lot after they were cleaned and cooked. Tailgated them! :-) I'd go again.
Small campground that is easy to setup for new campers like us. Level parking and nice large sites. Bathrooms are great and showers are private, separated rooms. Nice hike around the lake with the trail head right out of camp. Lighthouse is a walkable distance, but you are walking on the side of the road with hills and blind corners.
Stayed in H Loop with our RV while other family was close by in G Loop. Second year coming for the big family trip. Sites are roomy and clean. Bathrooms were adequate but the showers are only push button and can’t be adjusted. Garbage dump is pretty far from our site but not a big deal. Lots of kids playing and having fun everywhere.
Usually we arrive at the coast in December. Rain, wind, and limited dining places. June is sunny and fickle. Might blow up to 40 MPH and not a lot to do. The park has a small putting green, the sites vary in size, with full hook ups. Some have great views next to the bay.
