Best RV Parks & Resorts near Rickreall, OR

Several RV parks surround Rickreall, Oregon, providing convenient bases for motorhome travelers exploring the Willamette Valley. Premier RV Resort in Salem offers full hookup sites with 30/50 amp service year-round, though sites tend to be fairly narrow with concrete pads. Hee Hee Illahee RV Resort, also in Salem, features big-rig friendly spaces with full hookups but prohibits fires at individual sites. Silver Spur RV Park & Resort in Silverton remains open year-round with spacious pull-through sites that accommodate larger rigs. Blue Ox RV Park in Albany provides meticulously maintained grounds with full hookup RV sites. "We were in site 57 for 4 days. The campground is clean, quiet and well maintained, but the sites are fairly short and narrow. Our slides extended well past the concrete pad on both sides, leaving very little room to get around our RV," noted one Premier RV Resort visitor.

Most RV parks in the region require reservations, particularly during summer and fall when Willamette Valley wine country attracts numerous visitors. Cell service varies between parks, with Verizon typically providing the most reliable coverage. Many parks feature on-site dump stations, though some require non-threaded sewer connections that need to be weighted down. Pet policies differ significantly between facilities - Phoenix RV Park prohibits pets entirely, while most others welcome them with designated dog areas. Highway noise affects some parks, particularly those situated near major routes like Highway 101 or I-5. Winter camping remains viable at several parks that maintain year-round operations, though amenities may be reduced during off-season months.

    Premier RV Resort

    Good Base Camp

Our stay at the Lincoln City Premier RV Resort was good.  The space was clean and the utility hookups were well maintained and functional.  And, staff were very nice and accommodating.  We upgraded to a pull through and in hindsight should not have.  It was close to the road, and many of the trailers in the pull through section appeared to be long term occupants, at least a couple left early in the morning for work and returned in the afternoon.  The location although easy to get both north and south from because it is adjacent to the highway, was in a part of town that seemed a little economically depressed.  I would have rated it higher but for the price, I expected more.  UPDATE  We visited this park for a second time in 2023 and selected a back in site near the north east section of the park and loved it.  We are changing our rating to five stars.

    Premier RV Resort

    Nice CG, but small sites

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow. We were in site 57 for 4 days in mid September. Very friendly staff. The CG is clean, quiet and well maintained, but the sites are fairly short and narrow. As others have mentioned, tow vehicles usually extend into or are parked partially on the roads through the CG, but the roads are fairly wide throughout the CG. Also, our slides extended well past the concrete pad on both sides, leaving very little room to get around our RV. The sewer connections are not threaded, so you’ll have to weigh down your sewer hose. There is a fair bit of road noise from the highway. There is a nice open area, off leash pen and network of short trails for walking your dog. AT&T coverage was fair, ranging from 2-4 bars of 5G with speeds up to 19 MB/s. The CG WiFi speed varied considerably, from next to useless up to 1 MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were 11 OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

Port of Newport RV Park & Marina

    Pricey for parking lot camping!

This place offers a regular RV park for something around $80/night, or dry camping for about $40/night. The dry camping area is literally a parking lot, but you have a nice view of the marina and also it’s really nice to be this close to town so we stayed here for a night. You’re sharing a parking lot with Rogue brewery and distillery, which is very cool. You’re also walking distance to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, also very cool. The town of Newport is cute and fun and there are many interesting and cool shops to browse, and many of them are dog friendly.

We didn’t use any of the amenities here, but we were told there is wifi and showers. There were dumpsters (no recycling), and a free dump station for campers. There was non-potable water at the dump station, but I am sure they would also let you fill your tanks with potable water.

Silver Spur RV Park & Resort

    Not terrible.

I ended up here last minute due to weather on the Oregon coast. I’m in a 40’ coach. It’s a very well kept RV park, a lot of long term residents were here. The office is very nice, the lawns are very nice, the office parking lot is asphalt. Has a nice little children’s play area. There are very bumpy gravel driveways to the RV parking spots (possibly just the time of year causing the poor road condition). The RV spaces are very easy to get into being angled. We stayed in a pull through space, easy in and easy out. Only giving a 4star rating for the very small RV spaces. Was very crammed for anything more than a last minute stay.

    Blue Ox RV Park

Disneyland is not the happiest place on earth

This is the happiest place on RV Earth! What a beautiful park! Amazing trees of every kind and flowers and bushes all cared for meticulously. Great wi-fi. Management is exceptional! Indoor pool, multiple laundry rooms, rec room - all spotlessly clean. Close easy access to freeway but minimal noise. Full hookups of course, Wi-Fi is strong and fast, 48 channels of sharp cable TV picture. We are putting this on our A list and will return whenever we're passing through this area again. Two bars of 5G Verizon. Beautiful city soccer fields and park just outside the entrance to the park. Great place to walk and relax. Recommend.

    Whitcomb Creek County Park

Camping on a peninsula in the mist of Green Peter

Your in the woods at this location, bring your boats/canoe/kayak the reservoir is huge to explore.

The campground is only open in the summer and as of 2018 has some wonderful updates on Loop “A” and Loop “C” (new tables, and site pads, and fire rings). Loop “B” is still rustic and not a bad site to sit. There are a few Double site can hold two campers. There is not water or electricity, bring it in and pack it out. Can accommodate big rigs, or small tents. There are four pull through sites. Best to RSVP through ww.linnparks.com on popular weekends or take your change for any open sites, if no sites available head up Quartzville past mile marker 17 and park along the road for free, only where there are metal fire rings.

    South Beach State Park Campground

Awesome Location, Great Walking/Bike Path, Great for Kids!

What a great spot. You can now book online. Great for families. You can easily walk to the beach. Awesome paths for walking or biking. I would tow the kids around in a bike cart and we could ride up and down the pathway, under the Newport Bridge (it's safe), to the Jetty and near Rogue Brewery!! Love this spot. Good public bathrooms, power and water hookups. Dump station there but no sewer at your camp site (only draw back), otherwise it is awesome!! The outer edges of the loops are better for bigger RVs, travel trailers.

    Sun Outdoors Portland South

    Glamping

This was my first experience at an RV Resort. It is located right of the interstate but feels secluded. They have both back in and pull through sites, a little tight with neighbors but I was told it is better than other RV resorts. Beautiful landscaping, indoor pool and hot tub, small market, laundry facilities, horseshoe pits on beautiful grassy area. Yes to dogs and cats and no breed restrictions! They have a nice grassy area with poop bags! Bummer no fires 🙁 If fire pits I’d give the 5th star! Also, within 15-20 mins there are amazing countryside, wine tasting, hiking/walking, Willamette River with off leash areas for dogs, and downtown Portland. Additionally there is an off leash park 8 mins away. Overall a good experience, we enjoyed our stay. My photos don’t show much of the place but their website’s photos represent well.

Guide to Rickreall

RV parks near Rickreall, Oregon provide accommodations in the Willamette Valley wine country region, located approximately 10 miles west of Salem at an elevation of 325 feet. The area experiences mild winters with average temperatures between 34-45°F and warm summers ranging from 52-82°F. Winter RV camping remains available throughout the region with reduced seasonal rates from November through March at most facilities.

What to do

Wine tasting excursions: Several RV parks serve as convenient bases for exploring Willamette Valley vineyards, with many wineries within 20-30 minutes of Rickreall. "We really enjoyed staying here. Friendly staff, brand new washer/dryers, nice facilities, nice big spots," noted a visitor at Emerald Valley RV Park.

Explore nearby towns: Salem shopping centers are accessible within 15 minutes from many RV parks in the region. "It's clean, very well maintained and close to the many wonderful sights in the area," according to a reviewer at Silver Spur RV Park & Resort.

Outdoor recreation: Parks with walking trails offer on-site activities when not exploring the region. "There is a nice open area, off leash pen and network of short trails for walking your dog," explains a camper about the pet facilities at one local park.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Meticulously maintained restrooms and showers rank high among visitor priorities at Rickreall area RV parks. "The bathrooms were SPOTLESS and keyless/code entry, and it was almost like they were our private bathrooms," shared one visitor about their yurt stay at Premier RV Resort.

Swimming access: Several parks feature pools that operate during summer months. "We have been staying here full time since October 2021... On-site office, laundry, pool, full baths," notes a long-term resident at Portland-Woodburn RV Park, located about 30 minutes north of Rickreall.

Convenient locations: Proximity to amenities scores high with visitors. "The spots were level, no fire rings only a few picnic tables but caters to RVs only so most of us have tables and chairs. The bathrooms/showers were very clean and well cared for," mentioned a reviewer about their overnight stay.

What you should know

Site spacing considerations: Many parks feature closely positioned sites that may limit privacy. "The sites are fairly short and narrow. As others have mentioned, tow vehicles usually extend into or are parked partially on the roads through the CG, but the roads are fairly wide throughout the CG," notes one visitor.

Internet connectivity: WiFi quality varies significantly between parks and can fluctuate during peak usage times. "WiFi Sucks, 1.84 Mbps download/.37 Mbps Upload. Gravel parking pads," explains a candid review about connectivity issues at one park.

Seasonal activities: Park amenities often operate on seasonal schedules. "Terrific staff. Park neat and clean. Park sits right behind the Woodburn Outlet Mall with own private entrance. There are several specials during the month to include meals for a very inexpensive price as well as ice cream socials in nicer months," describes a resident of Blue Ox RV Park.

Tips for camping with families

Pool access for children: Several RV parks in the region maintain heated pools. "Been here several months and has been a pleasure. Great staff. Multiple Laundry Rooms, heated indoor pool, recreation area indoors," explains a Blue Ox RV Park visitor.

Recreation areas: Parks with dedicated play spaces offer on-site entertainment for younger visitors. "Amazing RV Park, well maintained roads, lots, and landscaping. Both fellow campers and staff were extremely welcoming. There was also plenty to do around the campsite between fishing, the small kids park and the park provided activities (corn hole, etc.)," notes a family that visited Silver Spur RV Park.

Educational opportunities: Many RV parks offer convenient access to nearby attractions. "We came in late after opening hours with our 30Ft RV. Phone call was returned very fast and Greg helped us very quick, friendly and emphatic! Very well organised he found the last spot where we could stay for the night. All clean, nice and amazingly good equipped. Our 3 kids loved this place too and is from now on also their favourite campground!" shares a family of five.

Tips from RVers

Sewer connection requirements: Check park requirements for sewer equipment before arrival. Many parks in the region require weighted sewer hose connections rather than threaded ones, requiring additional equipment.

Site selection strategy: "The entrance to the oceanfront terraced sites will take your breathe away! Wooded sites are also available," notes a visitor at Sea and Sand RV Park on the coast, approximately 60 miles west of Rickreall.

Long-term vs. short-term areas: Many parks designate specific sections for overnight visitors versus monthly residents. "We stay here often. Nice amenities but the sites are in need of tlc. Most lots are monthly," explains a regular visitor about site allocation practices.

Reservation requirements: "Very nice, clean, pool," notes a brief review highlighting essential park amenities at Hee Hee Illahee RV Resort. Advance reservations are strongly recommended, particularly during summer months when vineyard tourism peaks in the Willamette Valley.
