Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Skiatook Lake

I have been going to Skiatook Lake almost all of my life with friends and family to boat and enjoy the beaches. The campground is rather pleasant, if small and the spots are pretty close to one another. Mostly geared to RV's, tent camping is loud and not the most fun. We wouldn't go here for hiking and only to enjoy the lake. The beach is great for dogs but we got kicked out because we didn't have a spot when literally no one was in the park. That sours my opinion of the campground but overall, if you are a boater and RVer it is one of the best spots in the region.

This was our first trip with our new trailer. We wanted somewhere near home in case we forgot something. 

Twin points is a clean, well-maintained campground on Skiatook Lake. Most of our neighbors also seemed to be from nearby towns.

The only downside for us was the bugs! So many mosquitos, flies, and bees. Of course, one of the things we forgot to bring was insect repellent.

You'll want to bring at least 50' of water hose (probably more), as the spigots mostly seemed to be quite a distance from the pads. Also, bring a water hose splitter. Many sites share a single faucet.

Spent one night at this campground. Grounds were clean, restrooms and showers were also clean. The check in office was inviting and pleasing. We didn’t use the laundry facility while we were there, but they are available should the need arise. Bathrooms were locked and secure and passcode was required to enter. Passcode was provided upon check in. Our site was a pull through level gravel pad with full hookups. The off leash dog park was a small fenced in area with a couple of benches. Horse track and casino were well within walking distance from the camp sites. Quiet location, just off the highway. Highway could not be heard from inside our camper.

This campground is maintained and run by the US Corps of Engineers. It’s a fairly new campground in a nice quiet location on Skiatook Lake. Most of the not very private campsites are on the lake with electric and water hookups if that’s how you travel/camp, and it seemed that there were a lot of people who camped with RV’s and campers as well as their boats. The downside to being on the lake is that you might not have a place to hang your hammock. There are some nice hiking trails, but it appears that most people come here for the lake. There was one nice, newer shower house, but a couple of bathrooms are scattered throughout the campground as well. The kids like the playground and open field for playing tag. The boat dock is nice and a good place to toss a hook in the water.

This is a nice little campground that overlooks Skiatook Lake with many of the campsites right on the lake. If you are lucky you can snag a site that is up on the bluff over the lake, the views are amazing (and it was less windy than the sites down on the lakeshore)! But be careful because if you roll out the wrong side of your tent you could end up with a sharp drop into some cold water. The campground was pretty empty when I was there due to late season and some poor weather expected to roll in. There wasn’t anyone at the gate, but there was an honor system pay tube, and the campground host was really helpful.  The vault toilet was really clean which made me not mind as much the lack of showers. There seemed to be more tent campers here which might have had to do with the lack of RV delights like dump station or hookups. The area is run by the US Army Corps of Engineers and does not take reservations. The true draw is the lake, which is beautiful and had a nice boat ramp and dock. Might be a good place to spend a little quiet time.
