Best RV Parks & Resorts near Heyburn Lake

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Heyburn Park offers RV sites with water and electric hookups, situated right on the water with pull-through options. The gravel pads at many sites can present leveling challenges, particularly at sites away from the waterfront. A review mentioned that "the pad was very uneven, we were able to level the RV, but it was a bit of work." Keystone State Park provides full hookup RV sites with paved access roads, while The RV Park at Keystone Lake features blacktopped parking areas with premium sites offering high-speed internet. Tulsa RV Ranch maintains 106 sites with 50-amp service, sewer connections, and big-rig friendly access approximately 30 miles from Heyburn Lake.

Seasonal considerations affect availability throughout the area, with most campgrounds open year-round but experiencing higher occupancy during summer lake season. Many parks provide sanitary dump stations even when full hookup sites are limited. Bathroom facilities vary significantly between locations—Keystone offers "clean and modern toilets and showers with heating and air near the marina," while reports indicate maintenance issues at some smaller parks. Cell service is generally reliable near Heyburn and surrounding lakes. Pets are permitted at most RV parks, though restrictions may apply in certain areas. Several campgrounds feature on-site convenience stores selling essential supplies, and propane is available at select locations with advance notice.

    Nice clean campground

Spent one night at this campground. Grounds were clean, restrooms and showers were also clean. The check in office was inviting and pleasing. We didn’t use the laundry facility while we were there, but they are available should the need arise. Bathrooms were locked and secure and passcode was required to enter. Passcode was provided upon check in. Our site was a pull through level gravel pad with full hookups. The off leash dog park was a small fenced in area with a couple of benches. Horse track and casino were well within walking distance from the camp sites. Quiet location, just off the highway. Highway could not be heard from inside our camper.

The RV Park at Keystone Lake

    Great New Park

This is a brand new park with full hookups, easy access and easy parking. Streets & parking areas are blacktopped and pretty level. There is a nice, well-stocked convenience store on with ice, firewood, food, propane, a few fishing supplies and gift shop. Park personnel are very friendly & helpful, and there is a nice silo-style pavilion where the owners are going to be adding events & entertainment in the future. A small laundry is across the street from the store.

We paid extra for a premium site with high speed internet WiFi connection, trash pickup & other perks because my husband wanted to stream college football games, and the WiFi was great. Had 50 amp hookup, water & sewer and a gravel parking spot for extra vehicle next to the RV spot. All in all, a great stay.

I enjoyed this place, but couldn’t give it a 5 star review for a couple of reasons. One, there was only one area where a charcoal grill was available, by the pavilion in the center of the park. There were no trash containers or ash cans around there so we had to truck our food & cooking trash back to the rv and had to pour water over the coals & leave the mess in the cooker (which I hated to do). Second reason was the water hookup. My brother in law drove the RV in & hooked it up for us, which was a good thing. The water hookup is under the ground like a water meter location, and both my husband & myself have physical limitations that prevent us from getting on our knees to reach under the ground for hookups. If there was a tall spigot with hose hookup available where you could hook up from a standing position that would make it much easier for old folks like us!

    Walnut Creek Recreation Area Campground

    Beautiful affordable campsite

We stayed one night in October with our 22' airstream. Marion the host was welcoming and check in was easy. Beautiful small RV area overlooking lake. Electric sites, no water, some pull through. Close to town. Only $20 a night, would definitely stay again. Went to the Omaha Zoo and it was great!

    Overnight Stay

We stayed one night in November. Easy on/off, though the service road isn’t in good shape. We were in site 13, closest to the highway along with two cabins and the playground. Extremely noisy so if traffic bothers you request a site towards the back. Lots of trees. Our site was also close to the toilets and showers which were very clean. Shower stalls are private with a door and a curtain but the stalls are very shallow. Don’t leave anything on the floor in the outer area or it will get wet. There is a very shallow bench to put your items on but not meant for sitting. Two hooks to hang your items which is appreciated. No lock on the bathroom door. Pull through 50 amp. We’re towing a 28ft Airstream and it was level enough we didn’t need to unhitch. Listed as a gravel site but more dirt than gravel. Full hook ups, no cable, limited wifi. $44.50 a night. The swing in the playground desperately needs some WD-40, lol. We would overnight here again if needed.

Don’t recommend if you need amenities

I would not recommend this park. Bathrooms are filthy- trash on the floor, clogged toilet for days, showers have pink mold. We asked if we could use their cleaning supplies and never got a response however the next day someone was “cleaning. I use “” because the trash in the women’s showers, mold, soap scum, hair dye, and general dirt was still there. Toilets and sinks weren’t cleaned properly. We had to use their facilities and paid for a week stay (they offer no refunds) so we were stuck unfortunately. The google reviews are very untrue. Not sure who wrote them but that’s what we went off of. If you have a big rig and don’t need amenities and don’t care about overflowing dumpsters then it’ll be a fine stay. Lot of long term trailers. The kids were nice though and my boys enjoyed playing on the playground with them. We had the only space with a giant puddle upon arriving that never did dry up and then it rained 😅

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Keystone Lake

Absolutely would not recommend Jellystone RV Park at Keystone Lake.

We called ahead and clearly explained we needed a full hookup site to test out our motorhome before a major trip. We were also told they had a playground and asked to be placed as close to it as possible. We confirmed that checkout was at 11 AM and were told if we needed a late checkout, it would be an additional$20.

When we arrived, we were one of the only guests there, yet they still insisted on charging a late checkout fee. Even worse— the site they gave us had only 30 amp electric hookup— no water, no sewage hookup— despite what we were promised over the phone. The“playground” was a complete joke: no swings, no slides— just a small metal structure with a few steps. Nothing like what is pictured or advertised. When we asked for a refund because the site was not what we were promised, the older woman at the front desk laughed and said,“It’s raining, the kids can’t play anyway,” and refused to refund us.

She offered a“credit toward a future stay,” which we obviously declined. There are only THREE sites in the entire park with full hookups, and they are right at the front gate next to the train tracks. As a military family(my husband is a disabled combat vet), it’s also worth noting they do not offer any military discount. Between the poor service, false advertising, and complete lack of accommodations, this place is wildly overpriced and absolutely not worth the three-hour drive we made to get there.

0/10 recommend. Save your money and go somewhere else. We left and stayed down the road by Pier 51 instead— a much better experience.

    Bell Cow Lake Campground C

    Very Peaceful & Not Crowded

Campground C area offers many pull through RV sites and some back-in RV sites, all with electric & water hook ups. There is also equestrian RV sites with pens, tent camping with shared water spigots, primitive tent camping and a dump station. There are miles of equestrian trails. Hiked down one and the trail was very peaceful and beautiful. It had recently rained a lot, so I had a thick layer of red mud on my shoes from the hike, but glad I hiked it. There are bathrooms with showers, a swim beach, a volleyball court, pavilions, a boat ramp, and plenty of wildlife. Lake is calm & shallow, so it is best for small boats and kayaks. There were plenty of flies due to the time of year and the presence of horses, so a good fly swatter and a fly trap is recommended. Found a small cemetery on the drive to the campsite with some very old grave sites. In all, it was a great place to escape from the real world and relax.

    Keystone State Park Campground

    They are working on it

Convenient to Tulsa, this large park has a variety of sites to choose from. It is evident they are making park upgrades with new bathhouses, paving and signs. They have not made improvements to the Lake Country sites. The pull through sites are very close together. The pad is pretty level but a couple of them are cracked and crumbling. Full hook ups are nice with 30/50 amp. The section near the pier seems like the sites are more spaced out. Large beautiful lake provides nice views. If you don’t like to hear trains, the campground is located close to the tracks (was ok for me ). Reservations are required and there is no check in system, just pull up to your site. There is a park office but check in isn’t required.

Guide to Heyburn Lake

RV campgrounds near Heyburn Lake vary from basic overnight stops to full-service parks with modern facilities. Located in northeastern Oklahoma approximately 30 miles southwest of Tulsa, the area features rolling hills and proximity to multiple lakes across Creek and Tulsa counties. The region experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and mild winters that occasionally dip below freezing.

What to do

Water recreation: Heyburn Lake offers fishing for catfish, bass, and crappie, while nearby The RV Park at Keystone Lake provides convenient access to additional water activities. As one visitor noted, "This is a brand new park with full hookups, easy access and easy parking. There is a nice, well-stocked convenience store on with ice, firewood, food, propane, a few fishing supplies and gift shop."

Historical attractions: Located along historic Route 66, Oak Glen RV & Mobile Home Park serves as a convenient base for exploring regional landmarks. A camper mentioned, "Perfect little spot for a nice cheap overnight stay on the way through Oklahoma. Not far from Walmart so it was a good place to restock the fridge!"

Local events: Claremore Expo hosts various shows throughout the year, making the nearby RV park a popular choice during events. A reviewer explained, "The people that usually stay here are in town for events at the Expo or driving thru. There is a lot to do nearby. Within walking distance there's the expo center (you can go in and pet horses) and a Rec center with a pool."

What campers like

Modern facilities: Premium campgrounds offer upgraded amenities for comfortable stays. At Honcho RV Park, a camper praised, "The facilities are absolutely incredible. The nicest bathrooms I've seen on my cross country trip. A little pricey at $67 per night, but they make it worth it with the excellent facilities."

Convenient access: Many campgrounds provide easy highway access for overnight travelers. According to an Oak Glen visitor, "It is close to I-44, but far enough away to be quiet. Easy in/easy out for an RV. Bathrooms heated."

Friendly management: Personal attention from staff enhances the camping experience at several parks. One regular at The RV Park at Keystone Lake commented, "This is a new park. Very well layer out. Easy access to all sites. The management is fantastic and extremely helpful. This is a great place for all types of visits to the Tulsa/Bristow Oklahoma area."

What you should know

Variable maintenance: Facility upkeep varies significantly between campgrounds. At Tulsa RV Ranch, a camper reported issues: "Bathrooms are filthy- trash on the floor, clogged toilet for days, showers have pink mold. We asked if we could use their cleaning supplies and never got a response however the next day someone was 'cleaning'."

Primarily designed for RVs: Most campgrounds prioritize RV accommodations over tent camping. One camper noted about Route 66 RV Park, "Some of the sites have hookups on wrong side. No amenities at all. Just a place to plug in for the night."

Weather considerations: Oklahoma's climate impacts camping comfort year-round. A reviewer at Claremore Expo mentioned, "Spots are level and have full hook ups. We didn't try the bathrooms or laundry rooms and stayed only 3 nights. It's in the middle of town so there is plenty of road and train noises, but that didn't bother us too much."

Tips for camping with families

Recreation facilities: Some campgrounds offer family-friendly amenities beyond standard hookups. A visitor at Claremore Expo RV Park shared, "Basic RV spots with electricity. Access to the Expo rec center is nice and our kids had a lot of fun in the pool. The really enjoyed the climbing wall and diving board!"

Playground access: Children can benefit from dedicated play areas at select campgrounds. A Tulsa RV Ranch camper mentioned, "Lot of long term trailers. The kids were nice though and my boys enjoyed playing on the playground with them."

Local attractions: Museums and historical sites provide educational opportunities for families. A reviewer suggested, "You can go to Will Rogers Museum, JM Davis fun museum, RSU has a nice little hiking trail as does the Lake."

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Site preparation may require extra effort at some campgrounds. At Expo Square RV Park, a camper reported, "We stayed in our 39' trailer for AKC National Agility Championship. Very convenient to fairgrounds events. Space 719 was just long enough for trailer but we were allowed to park our truck in the space next to it."

Utility setup: Water hookup designs vary between campgrounds, sometimes creating accessibility issues. At The RV Park at Keystone Lake, a reviewer noted, "The water hookup is under the ground like a water meter location, and both my husband & myself have physical limitations that prevent us from getting on our knees to reach under the ground for hookups."

Stay duration considerations: Some rv campgrounds near Heyburn Lake function better for overnight stays than extended camping. According to a visitor at Oak Glen RV Park, "We were here for a 3-day stop to visit friends. It has been around for some time right off Route 66. The staff were friendly, and we were given our choice of where to camp. Our spot was a pull-through, not completely level, but that wasn't a problem for us."
