Best RV Parks & Resorts near Zanesville, OH

Several RV campgrounds operate within 30 miles of Zanesville, Ohio, with varied amenities and hookup options. National Road Campground offers RV sites adjacent to fishing ponds approximately one mile from Interstate 70, making it convenient for travelers. Wolfie's Campground provides gravel pads with full hookups, though some sites may require significant leveling. Dillon State Park Campground features 50A/30A electric sites with limited full hookup availability, reasonable spacing between sites, and a dump station near the entrance. Campers Grove RV Park in Hopewell operates seasonally from April through October. "RV sites were very close together. Site required minimal leveling. We were on like a hilltop and overlooked lower level RV circle."

Access to most area RV parks involves paved roads, though some campground driveways consist of gravel suitable for motorhomes and travel trailers. Cell service varies considerably across the region; most commercial parks offer adequate Verizon coverage, while state park campgrounds may have more limited connectivity. Many RV sites in the area lack water hookups, requiring campers to fill tanks upon arrival with potable water available at designated spigots. Pet policies differ between facilities, with most private RV parks allowing pets while some state facilities restrict dogs in certain areas. One camper noted: "Pull-thru site #18 was very unleveled from front-to-back; hitch was on ground and rear stabilizers were fully extended with blocks underneath." Dump stations are provided at most campgrounds, though not all offer sewer hookups at individual sites.

    Amish Country Campsites

    Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

    Hocking River RV Park

Scenic, easy in/out and on the river

Stayed here 4 nights, pull through spots require a little bit of maneuvering with big rig (43’ fifth wheel). There was some mud where camper wheels were situated in the spot (needs material). Fire rings are not near RV but behind across the road on the river. Bath house is just ok - not great, not gross. Close proximity to lots of hiking but Hocking Hills itself has become so crowded… don’t come if you want to get away from people.

    Hocking Hills KOA Holiday

    Great first time KOA experience

We have never stayed at a KOA before and were very happy with this campground. The staff were friendly and professional, the sites were clean, and there were a wide variety of sites to choose from. From primitive tent sites tucked back in the woods to large RV sites with water/sewer/electric/cable hookups. We are first-time owners of a 29 ft Fifth Wheel and got a pull-through site. It offered little in the way of privacy, which was the only negative about the whole experience. Our site included a fire ring and a picnic table, along with all the hook ups. The night we arrived we were too tired to cook so ordered a pizza from the front office and they delivered it to our site. They also deliver wood directly to you. They escort you directly to your site so you don't get lost or go down a one-way road the wrong way. There was a nice little pool, but it wasn't open for the season yet. The shower houses were immaculate. The front office includes a little gift shop, ice cream, and pizza. This campground was also located close (within a few miles) to all the main hiking trails, and about 12 miles from Logan. The little road going up to the campground is VERY bumpy. It's not the campground road, it belongs to the Township, so its completely out of their ability to make improvements. This was only our second time out in our fifth wheel camper so it was a little scary, but we just drove slow and our truck handled it just fine. We will definitely be back to this wonderful campground as we love Hocking Hills.

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

    Salt Fork State Park Campground

    Great fall camping

Dated, but pretty clean bath\shower building with clothes washer and dryer ($2). Sites in C-loop are far enough apart to not feel too crammed together. Power pedestal has 20, 30 and 50 amp service. 30 amp worked fine. Lots of trails, allowing dogs on leash. True, other amenities are a drive of at least a couple miles to get to. ATT service was fine for streaming using ROKU and my phone as a hotspot. Paved, level pads, but not long enough for largest trailers. Check size if you have one. Sites at South end of loop get the most shade

Guide to Zanesville

Situated in eastern Ohio at the confluence of the Licking and Muskingum rivers, Zanesville offers multiple camping options within a 30-mile radius. The region features rolling hills with elevations ranging from 700 to 1,100 feet and experiences four distinct seasons. Area campgrounds vary from small, private parks to larger state-managed facilities with differing amenities and natural surroundings.

What to do

Kayaking on rivers and lakes: The Muskingum River provides excellent paddling opportunities near Riversedge Campground, which offers equipment rentals and shuttle service. "If you decide to rent a kayak they will even drop you off upstream to start your trip," notes Ken P., who adds that the campground recently "purchased 62 acres for hiking across the road."

Fishing in stocked ponds: Several campgrounds maintain fishing areas for guests. At North Branch Kokosing River Campground, campers can fish the adjacent lake. "Beautiful lake, nice and quiet. Lots of waterfowl," writes Shelly S., who visited in September when the campground wasn't crowded.

Exploring Amish Country: Campers staying near Berlin can visit authentic Amish shops and restaurants within a short drive. A camper at Berlin RV Park & Campground noted it's "centrally located in Berlin, OH" with staff who are "very friendly and knowledgeable about local attractions and dining."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Multiple rv campgrounds near Zanesville, Ohio maintain well-kept shower houses and restrooms. At Berlin RV Park & Campground, campers consistently praise the upkeep: "The bathrooms, showers and laundry areas were very clean. There also was not an issue with biting insects- none of us got a mosquito bite during our stay here," writes Jenalee R.

Riverside camping spots: Several campgrounds offer sites directly on waterways. "Our tent was right on the river and Kelli was the best host ever! On our last day she brought us warm cinnamon rolls and coffee," reports Eric S. about Riversedge Campground, where tent sites sit right beside the water.

Quiet atmosphere: Many Zanesville area campgrounds provide peaceful settings away from city noise. Scenic Hills RV Park gets high marks for tranquility, with Tom H. noting: "Very nice park. Nothing much for kids, so it's nice for peace and quiet."

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Many Zanesville area rv campgrounds close during winter months. Campers Grove RV Park in Hopewell runs from April through October, while Scenic Hills RV Park operates April 1 to November 1. Call ahead to confirm opening dates when planning spring trips.

Varying water access: Not all waterfront campgrounds offer easy water entry points. At Hocking River RV Park, a camper noted: "Figured we'd bring some swim suits since it's on the river but there really wasn't any way to the river as the bank was about 5 feet up."

Shade availability: Tree cover varies significantly between parks and specific sites. At Shadow Lake RV Resort, natural shade is plentiful: "There are several ponds located on the property and trails meander along and around the 100 acre property. We see deer almost every evening," reported Darla.

Tips for camping with families

Look for campgrounds with activities: When traveling with children, select parks that offer recreational options. One camper noted about Kokosing River Campground: "Peaceful and great for kids. Kayaking on the lake is great. Camp staff very friendly and helpful."

Check playground availability: Not all parks cater to younger visitors. A Hocking River RV Park camper observed: "No playground which made camping with kids very uneventful for them."

Consider riverside tent sites: At Riversedge Campground, tent camping right by the water provides entertainment: "The tent sites are right next to the water and there is a beach and dock nearby also," writes Ken P., who chose the location for a father-son getaway.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling requirements: Many RV sites in the Zanesville area require adjustment. At Berlin RV Park, one camper noted: "In the part where I am it is gravel site but level side to side," though hookup locations presented a challenge: "water and electricity is located in the rear area of RV, while sewer connections are toward the front."

Campground layouts: Spacing between sites varies significantly across rv parks around Zanesville. "Very close to the nice little downtown Marietta, Ohio but still very rural location. Large sites," writes James P. about Ashland RV Park.

Hookup configurations: Many campgrounds have specific utility placement that may require longer cables or hoses. Earl B. at Scenic Hills RV Park mentioned: "I personally used 50' of water line and 30' of sewer line (which I carry with me anyways)."
