Pioneer Trails Tree Farm Campground welcomes pets at their four primitive tent sites surrounded by trees, offering a more secluded experience for campers with dogs. Both locations maintain clean facilities with accessible bathrooms near camping areas. Shenango Campground provides waterfront options where pets can enjoy shoreline access, though all sites require pets to be leashed when outside. Several campgrounds near Struthers provide fishing access where leashed dogs can join their owners lakeside, including Chestnut Ridge's small fishing lake. Seasonal considerations include summer heat requiring extra water and shade for pets, while spring and fall offer more comfortable temperatures for dog activities. Flying Finn Family Campground features a beautiful lake for fishing with leashed dogs welcome along the shoreline. Most facilities require vaccination records and limit pets to common areas only, not inside shared facilities like bathhouses. When setting up at lakefront sites in Shenango Recreation Area, campers should secure pets away from wildlife areas, especially during early morning and evening hours when wildlife is most active.

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    Silver Springs Campground

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

Rose Point Park Cabins & Camping

    Family and pet friendly

OverLl great campground. The sites are a little close together but we still enjoyed our time there. Staff is super friendly and there was plenty for the kids to do, pool, arcade, fishing, and playground. Decent size dog park to let your dogs run and decent trails nearby.

    Goddard Park Vacationland Campground

    Near Beautiful Lake Wilhelm

Nice park with very friendly staff. My only complaint is the sites are way too crowded. Also a little uneven. I love that this park is close to Lake Wilhelm & Goddard State Park for fishing and bike riding. 2 pools and a dog park.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

Guide to Struthers

Campgrounds near Struthers, Ohio span a range of terrains from lakeside recreation areas to wooded retreats within a 30-mile radius. The region experiences distinct seasons with winter lows averaging 20°F and summer highs reaching 85°F. Most campgrounds in the area open from May through October, with several offering extended seasons into late fall.

What to do

Fishing access for all levels: Berlin Lake Wildlife Area offers multiple shoreline fishing spots with catches including bass, catfish, and crappie. "Great place to camp, fish, boat, and do much more. I love the fact that you can tie your boat or wave runner right at most of the sites," notes a visitor to Shenango Campground.

Hiking nearby trails: The North Country National Scenic Trail connects directly to Beaver Creek State Park Campground, providing miles of wooded terrain. A camper observed, "Direct access to the North Country National Scenic Trail and trails through main park," making it convenient for day hikes without driving.

Historical exploration: Visit the pioneer village at Beaver Creek State Park, featuring original buildings from the 1800s. "The best part about the area was the history that surrounds it. There is a pioneer village near the park office that offers some picnicking areas around it. It also has original buildings from the pioneer days (church, school, etc)," shares one visitor.

What campers like

Lake swimming opportunities: The small swim lake at KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake features inflatables that keep children entertained. As one camper mentions, "Kids absolutely loved swimming in the little lake and sliding/jumping off the inflatables."

Private creek-side camping: At Breakneck Campground, walk-in sites by the creek offer seclusion rare in established campgrounds. A visitor shares, "We were right next to the creek, it was super spacious and super private. There's rough terrain so typically these sites are walk in."

Well-maintained facilities: Clean, accessible bathrooms make longer stays more comfortable. A Chestnut Ridge Park and Campground visitor notes, "Bathrooms were clean if a bit unique with a rope and pulley system of water delivery to the shower head," highlighting the campground's creative solutions.

What you should know

Seasonal closures affect water access: Many campgrounds have limited water during shoulder seasons. At Beaver Creek State Park, "They are on a well so there is limited water and they don't allow you to fill up your on-board tank. Make sure you fill up before you go!"

Variable noise levels by location: Highway proximity affects some sites more than others. A camper at KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake observed, "The hiway noise was just too much for the kids to sleep, and to enjoy a night at the fire having to yell at times."

Early morning maintenance: Maintenance schedules might disturb light sleepers. At Shenango Campground, one camper reported "Wake up to the cleaning crew lead blowing the sidewalk around the restroom at 7:00 a.m."

Tips for camping with families

Book recreation-focused sites: For families seeking activities, Rose Point Park Cabins & Camping offers multiple options. "Great Place for adults and children to enjoy themselves! Plenty of activities. Welcoming Staff! Halloween weekends are a great time to visit!" recommends a regular visitor.

Look for playgrounds near campsites: Mill Creek Camping has playground access that keeps children entertained.
