Located about 30 minutes from Cuyahoga Valley National Park, this family-friendly destination features two lakes—one for swimming and one for fishing. The majority of pet-friendly campgrounds near Orrville offer similar amenities, including Maple Lakes Campground and Clay's Resort Jellystone Park, both accommodating pets at their tent sites, RV spots, and cabins. Most require pets to remain leashed throughout the property except in designated areas. Facilities typically include full hookups, shower houses, and sanitary dump stations. The grassy campsites provide ample room for pets to stretch out while maintaining proximity to recreational areas. Sites tend to be level with some offering more privacy than others, though reviews indicate Caskey's LV27 site presents some leveling challenges.

Dog-friendly trails surround many Orrville area campgrounds, with the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath providing excellent pet walking opportunities. At Evergreen Park RV Resort, the meticulously maintained grounds include a dedicated dog run where pets can exercise off-leash. This upscale campground maintains spotless facilities with full hookups at every site, making it particularly convenient for campers traveling with pets. The nearby Amish Country setting offers scenic walking routes past farms where horses and sheep can be seen from certain campsites. Most campgrounds in the area enforce quiet hours to minimize barking disturbances, and several provide pet waste stations throughout the property to maintain cleanliness.

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    Silver Springs Campground

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

Guide to Orrville

Camping near Orrville, Ohio offers a mix of state-owned and private campgrounds within a 30-mile radius. The area sits around 1,100 feet above sea level with relatively flat terrain surrounding the Tuscarawas River watershed. Summer temperatures average in the upper 70s, making water-based recreation particularly popular from June through August when rainfall drops to around 3.5 inches monthly.

What to do

Canoe adventures: At Canal Fulton Canoe Livery & Campground, canoe rentals provide river access with campsites positioned along 100 yards of the Tuscarawas River. "Great location, lacking facilities... There's a nice covered picnic area with grills available with your own gas. And a small (toddler) kids area," notes Jeremy R.

Disc golf courses: Mohican State Park offers disc golf among its recreational options, along with extensive hiking trails covering over 8 miles of terrain. "Super super big place as far as campsites go and quantity... They do have a suspension bridge which is pretty cool some trails to hike on and Camp spots right on the river," explains Katie Jo B.

Winter camping opportunities: Evergreen Park RV Resort provides year-round access with indoor facilities for cold-weather camping. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves... The game room was nice as well as the indoor pool. The park is in Amish areas so there is plenty of shopping to do," reports Andrea F.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Maple Lakes Campground provides generous spacing between campsites. "Beautiful location. Lots of long term campers. Beautiful trees and the fishing lakes had lovely benches... Sites had a bit of space so that was nice," shares Tracy L.

Fishing opportunities: Findley State Park Campground offers well-maintained fishing areas with a dedicated lake. "Findley state park is well maintained large park! We can easily get lost on 3 mile hikes in the woods and still be on marked paths! The roads are paved and excellent for biking and skating," mentions Kimberly C.

Free camping options: Rivers Edge Camping Area provides no-cost tent sites for hikers and cyclists along the towpath. "Great access close to parking lot with privacy between you and the trail. Right alongside the river with a picnic table and firepit. Portable toilet in parking lot," writes Whiskey B.

What you should know

Pricing variations: Private campgrounds like Clay's Resort Jellystone Park have significantly higher rates than state parks, with mixed reviews on value. "Crazy expensive (like $540 FOR 4 NIGHTS) but we figured we'd try it... This place was way overpriced, nickle and dimed you to death, and was just unmanaged chaos," warns Flying Z.

Water quality concerns: Some facilities have issues with water quality that can affect showers and drinking. "The water smelled horrible, and both the shower head and faucet were caked with scum. My kids begged not to have to take a shower because of the smell," reports Hali R. about Clay's Resort.

Early store closings: Amish Country Campsites and surrounding businesses have limited evening hours. "Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations. As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it is okay. Just don't plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas," advises Jeffrey.

Tips for camping with families

Waterpark access: Clay's Resort Jellystone Park offers a waterpark that's included with camping but can get crowded with day visitors. "We decided to stay after plenty of referrals from friends and family... The lake was virtually algae free, and even during this pandemic, it didn't feel over crowded at any point," shares Chuck E.

Pool alternatives: Findley State Park offers beach swimming as an alternative to developed pools. "There are quite a few trails and a lake with a beach for swimming... The park itself is kept clean and if you avoid the bathrooms in the busiest area then those are pretty clean as well," recommends Greg A.

Activity scheduling: Peak usage times affect facility enjoyment, with mid-week visits offering more space. "Mid August Stay... The activities here are endless! Fishing, volleyball, basketball, kayaking, zip lining in water with swimming (15break every 45 min), mini golf, bounce trampoline pad, cornhole, etc! So much for every age," reports Chelsea M. from Clay's Resort.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds in the area have uneven sites requiring leveling blocks. "Great location, but not even close to level. Seemed to be the only site with this issue," notes Chuck E. about site LV27 at Clay's Resort.

Winter RV facilities: Meadow Lake Park provides winter camping with good utility access for cold weather. "This is a basic little campground. It's quiet with huge sites. It's not a fancy campground, but I don't go camping for the same amenities I can get at home," explains Carrisa P.

Dog friendly campgrounds near Orrville: Specific pet areas vary by property, with some having dedicated exercise zones. "Dog run is fabulous. Beautiful walking trail... If you have a spot in the rear you will hear the clop-clop of horse & buggy, and the nearby sheep," describes Beth G. about Evergreen Park RV Resort's pet accommodations.
