Indian Town

A great historic piece of Central NC. Plenary of water activities, hiking, and sightseeing in the area. Nestled up to the Uwharrie National Forest and Albemarle. Plenary of camp sites and home to a Native American mining operation. Within a short drive there is Town Creek Indian Mound that you can visit as well. Badin Lake is nearby as well.

Peace and quiet

The whole campground was well kept and was super clean, there was an amazing pond that you could fish in and it had a good amount of fish (I seen more then I caught). It was quiet and relaxing…

Clean KOA with plenty of Options

Nice place to camp for a few days - we had a campervan and were surrounded by huge, but quiet, RVs. Restrooms (6), showers (3) and laundry room were kept immaculately clean which is always appreciated! Pool also very clean and well maintained. Only downside was noisy highway next to the campground…..we were surprised that nothing was done to mitigate noise (no barrier fence or wall, no shrubbery hedge, etc). But this is a problem with KOAs everywhere.
Very nice clerk and staff. Suggestion: add a full length mirror in restrooms.

Very nice

Friendly host, close to lake and well shaded, clean bathrooms, large enough tent sites, great for families.

Nice Campground

Positives:

Decent sized sites Quiet Tent pad, picnic table Waterfalls on trails Firewood sold $5 Hot showers

Cons:

Lots of roots above ground on site Trash can in front of site (slamming door not fun to listen to) Needs better signs and more bathrooms Needs more security Poor cell service Pamphlets for local attracts not close Check in process

Love it

Small, quiet, well shaded camp ground. Level gravel tent pad. Good hammock tees. Fire ring and table. Dogs welcome. Lots of nice trails and views.

Pleasant

Simple, small campground. Clean and quiet. Plenty of shade. Nice trails. Hike up from campground or drive to summit and hike from there. Dogs welcome.

Very Nice

Byrd’s Branch is a newer campground with very clean facilities. Nice tent sites along a creek surrounded by mature trees. The nearby waterfalls are awesome and just a short hike from the campsite. Glad I stayed here.

Quiet place to Relax

My wife and our four kids have had a great time. Plenty of shade and plenty to do. We fished, rode bikes, hiked and saw plenty of wildlife. Not too close to the neighbors, and the camp host were nice. This is not our fist time here and the shower house used to have lots of insects and spiders, this is not the case anymore. The shower house was very clean. We live fairly close so we will be coming back.

Such a fun place to camp, especially for the kids

This place is the best places for families to camp. There is a beautiful zoo, gem mining, a train ride, amazing fishing, a beautiful playground, and a carousel. The campsites are nice and the facilities are fairly clean. We really enjoyed fishing and caught a couple of fish as well. The sites are pretty roomy to! We definitely will be going back again and have been a couple of times.
