Best Cabin Camping near Ransomville, NY

Several cabin options near Ransomville provide comfortable accommodations within driving distance of Niagara Falls. Four Mile Creek State Park Campground offers cabin rentals with electricity, picnic tables, and fire rings. Nearby, HTR Niagara Campground and Niagara Falls North/Lewiston KOA feature furnished cabins with varying amenities. Many cabins include beds, basic furniture, and access to shared bathhouses with showers and toilets. The Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday provides cabin accommodations with additional features like heating and air conditioning in some units. "The bathrooms were very nice, the store was small but ok, the staff were helpful," noted one visitor to the Lewiston KOA.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Niagara's Lazy Lakes Camping Resort offers cabin rentals alongside other amenities including two heated pools and a fishing pond. Daisy Barn Campground provides cabin options with proximity to Lake Ontario. Most require advance reservations, especially during peak summer months from May through October when the majority of campgrounds operate. Pet policies vary by campground—some cabin areas are pet-friendly while others restrict animals. One camper at Daisy Barn mentioned, "This campground is clearly well-maintained. Everything was tidy and clean, from our campsite, laundry room, showers, bathroom, camp store, and walking paths."

Most cabins include basic furnishings but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Kitchen facilities vary significantly—some cabins provide only minimal cooking capabilities while others may include small refrigerators or microwaves. On-site camp stores at locations like HTR Niagara Campground and the KOA properties stock essential supplies, though selection is limited. Firewood is available for purchase at many locations for outdoor cooking and evening campfires. Golden Hill State Park Campground, though farther from Ransomville, offers cabin rentals with access to laundry facilities and electric hookups.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Field Camping

It's not all bad! It took a while to find our site in the dark as site markers are small. The sites are decent size, the bathrooms are clean but spiders will hang out. Showers are hot. Sites are available with electric and there is an RV dump station if you have one. There are a lot of RVs at this campground, a large playground, and a field with soccer goals (no net). Niagara Falls is 15 or so miles away, and Buffalo NY is a short drive. The bathroom building has an outdoor sink with heated water, and this is also where the trash bins are.  Firewood is available in front of many nearby homes (a couple of miles, max,and $4-5 a bundle). The fire pits are either low or leaning, so we found a camp stove to be essential. It can get quite windy, we saw a tent buckle and our stakes were pulled up from the wind. It can get loud at night and it doesn't seem as if quiet hours are enforced. I'd stay again but only if a more private campground was unavailable.

    Evangola State Park Campground

    Great campground

We stayed here three nights to ride out a heat wave and really liked it. Sites are electric only, with a dump station available at the entrance and one in the campground loop. There are potable water spigots throughout the campground, where you awkwardly pull over to the side of the road and fill your tank. Sites are pretty much wide open, with zero separation between you and your neighbor. Most are out in direct sun but the ones along the edge have some tree cover and shade.

There are yurts here as well, and a playground, and a huge disc golf course. You can walk to the beach from the campground (dogs aren’t allowed on the beach). The nature center is right in the campground, by the basketball and tennis courts.

Showers were dirty and buggy, but they’re free and you can actually choose your own water temperature. NY State campgrounds require proof of rabies vaccinations for your dogs.

Good cell reception for Verizon, ATT wasn’t great but the cell booster helped. Trash bins, but no recycling. Beautiful sunset on the lake.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    Golden Hill State Park Campground

    Quiet Campground Over Lake Ontario

We camped at Golden Hill over the weekend of July 24-26, 2020. Due to COVID, advance reservations are required to book a spot at any NY state campground. We had site 47 in loop C, which was across the road from the lake view sites. I recommend sites 40-45 for lake-front views. Loops A and B were more crowded and more suitable to RV trailers and rigs (we were camping in a pop-up camper). Site 47 was large and had a few trees. The campfire ring was right against the pad, which made it difficult to position our pop-up so that it was away from the fire ring.

Things to consider: There are 2 bathrooms in the campground, one near the A-B loops and one near the entrance. It was quite a hike in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom from our site. Some sites in the A-B loops are right next to each other, and we preferred the space for the sites in the C loop.

Wonderful things: The views are spectacular, particularly at sunset. The campground was quiet at night. The Niagara Wine trail is close to this campground, and Niagara Falls is about a 50 minute drive away. We hiked Devil's Hole and Whirlpool State Parks on this camping trip. The showers in the bathrooms were phenomenal - very clean with hot water and a private dressing area next to the shower. Showers were ADA compliant and had shower seats.

    Evangola State Park Campground

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

    HTR Niagara Campground

Very Nice and Big Rig Friendly

We stayed here for five days and had a blast. Gravel roads and pads but level and no issues with mud (it rained). Several laundry rooms, bathrooms, cabins, playground, pond to fish in, paddle boat and bike rentals.

Family-friendly activities: Four Mile Creek State Park offers various recreation options. "This is a friendly and clean state park campground where you can choose your own environmental experience. Staff inside office were very friendly-gave many trail suggestions and good tips for navigating the city. Comes with state park parking pass to park free and access to town shuttle," explains Evan.

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most cabin rentals in the Ransomville area close during winter months. Golden Hill State Park operates from "April 29 to October 15," while others like Four Mile Creek run "May 1 to October 27."

Site selection considerations: Choose sites carefully based on preferences. "We camped at site 161 which was fairly shaded and had a large open field with a view of Lake Ontario. Sunsets were beautiful and a lot of campers come to the lake in the evening to watch it," advises Stacia R.

Water access limitations: Niagara Falls North / Lewiston KOA and similar campgrounds have varying water features. "This is a good campground that's not too far away from Niagara Falls. Comes with state park parking pass to park free and access to town shuttle," notes Evan about Four Mile Creek.

Power considerations: Check electrical service details when booking. "The campground is very large. It makes for challenging entry and exit for Class A, especially if towing. Location is great for visiting Niagara Falls," reports Santiago O. about the Lewiston KOA.
