Robert H. Treman State Park Campground

    Good location

Location: This park is close to Ithaca which was the best part. Trails and Natural Features: We loved the waterfall, swimming area (seasonal so closed when we stayed), and the fall colors. Sites: They have very few electric sites so we decided to boondock. It surprised me that all the full hookup sites were reserved but very people actually showed up for their reservations while we stayed. Lame. And heads up that if you don’t stay in the big clearing for big rigs, there are tight turns between trees to get in and out of the non-electric sites. We ended up making a back-in site into a pull-through site… whoops. Starlink: I work remotely so internet is important. We weren’t camping in the clearing because those sites were booked, but even the Starlink struggled where we were and I ended up working from the library in town. So heads up if you need internet. Bathrooms: They were spacious but older. Temperature in the showers was tricky. Hot is cold and cold it hot. Cool stuff: They had compost bins and provide bags for all campers. That’s cool!

    Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground

Great campground in PA northern tier

The owners do a fantastic job keeping the campground shipshape. Restrooms/showers are immaculate any time of day. Heated swimming pool and the splash pad for kiddies is spotless as well. Nice, pull-through on gravel pad withfull-hookups that can take large rigs. Lake is lovely for fishing/kayaks/canoes. Seasonal campers are tidy. Only a few tent sites with water & electricity tucked into woods. Larger pull-through sites don't get a lot of shade, but there are back-in sites for shorter campers in wooded sites and shaded lake front, as well. Campground store sells ice-cream & nachos and supplies. Campground is pretty quiet during the week, but fills up on weekends with guests using own (or renting) golf carts. Activities on weekends. The campground sits atop one of NEPA's "rolling hills" in quiet, rural farming area. Cell service is spotty. Local winery/cafe just down the road for tastings and lunch. Row boat, paddle boat rentals.

    Chenango Valley State Park Campground

Well maintained NY state campground; good for family camping

We were just passing through on a rainy night, but this park would be a good choice for a multi-night stay.

    Activities for a Multi-Day Stay

    • Swimming in the lake, golfing, boating, fishing, multi-use trails for hiking or mountain biking

    • You're only about 20 minutes from the Binghamton/Johnson City area. For us, that means food and craft beer.

Sites in the Chipmunk Camping Area

    • Parking pads in the non-electric section are dirt/grass. Some of the pads are short; this section is geared toward tent campers. We found a site long enough to easily accommodate our vehicle and teardrop trailer (30 ft total) since we didn't want to detach for a one night stay. Even if the pad wasn't that long, there are other pads wide enough to handle a vehicle and trailer like ours side by side.

    • Parking pads in the electric loops (30 amps and 50 amps) have a good amount of gravel.

    • We usually prefer sites on the outer part of a loop, and this was no exception. The sites have more trees.

    Amenities

    • Electricity at about 1/3 of the sites

    • Pretty good restrooms/showers

    • Water spigots on the loops and more water at the dump station

    • Trash disposal

    • Playground at the beach area, not the campground

    Wildlife

    • Beware of raccoons. They are brazen thieves here...and every campground they inhabit. Just don't leave your food out.

    • The park brochure warns of the occasional bear but that's true even in towns all over NY. I doubt you'll see one.

    • Deer are all over. Watch out for them on the roads. We had four that were feeding behind our site in the morning.

    Finger Lakes RV Resort

Beautiful new spacious RV resort in excellent location.

We arrived on Saturday, 10.8.22 and are staying for a week. This is a delightful location. Rachel and Doug are cheerful, attentive, and very personable owners who are on-site at almost all times. This park just opened this year, so we checked in at an entrance building that they're using until their primary building is complete. We were greeted with delicious cookies, our site(#9) backs up to a wooded area(with a hiking path buried in there) with a lot of space. We booked early, which was a good thing because they were 100% full for Indigenous People's Day. We chose this site because there was a lot of room around it and we're used to really tightly packed RV parks. But what we found is that all of the sites are very nicely spread out with generous spacing, so that's not an issue. It's still nice to be on the outskirts. We also chose this section per a review we read to be away from the main road noise, but there really isn't much road noise to worry about, anyway. The WiFi is strong and consistent. We're using 30amps, but they also have 20 and 50amp service to each site. The water pressure is great. The bath house is new and very comfortable. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring and lots of room for big rigs. We watched Doug neaten up sites after other RV's vacated, which shows an attention to detail we don't often find. They also drive by each site every morning to collect trash and recycling. The sunsets are spectacular over the lake(we can't see the lake from here, but it's close). There are numerous award-winning wineries surrounding us and up and down the lake. We're headed out for tastings today. We've been hiking the last few days- Watkins Glen State Park- Gorge Trail(go early or it gets REALLY crowded), Taughannock State Park- Gorge& North Ridge Trail over on Cayuga Lake, and a concert(Rufus Wainwright) at Point of the Bluff Winery over on Keuka Lake. We stopped afterward for dinner in Hammondsport at Timber Stone Grill which was truly wonderful. That's about 35- 45 minutes away. Lots more hiking trails to do in the National Forest and surrounding areas. And there's Watkins Glen, a charming town just minutes away. We highly recommend Finger Lakes RV Resort and we'll be back!

Blueberry Patch Campground — Green Mountain & Finger Lakes National Forests

    Simple

The only Finger Lakes National Forest designated campground, Blueberry Patch offers a secluded experience in the heart of this sometimes overlooked beautiful geographic region in the State of New York. This campground offers a simple experience, with fire rings and picnic tables at each site and seems to accommodate just tent and small campers. Vault toilets available. On a week day in early summer, 3 of the 9 campsites we’re occupied. Can see it filling up on weekends. Enjoy!

    Ferenbaugh Campground

    Relaxing place to stay

This CG has two distinct sections. Near the entrance is the Pull Through Area. Behind a row of trees there are several sites with full hookups including cable TV and Wi-Fi. The sites are open, reasonably level, and a good size. The other sites are in the woods, most of these sites do not have sewer connections. There is a honey wagon service available. We camped with a relative who was new and we were teaching them how to operate their camper. We had a couple of dry days then some rain. Still was a great teaching/learning experience.

Make sure you use a water filter, there was a lot of sediment in the water when we were there. See pictures of 4 days on a new cartridge.

We had a fantastic sunrise one morning.

    Watkins Glen State Park Campground

Watkins Glen State Park, New York

Campers arriving at Watkins Glen State Park are immediately captivated by its dramatic gorge scenery, where 19 waterfalls cascade through narrow stone walls. Their campsites are nestled among hardwood forests, offering a perfect balance of sunlit clearings and shady retreats. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and fire ring, making it easy to prepare meals after a day spent exploring the park’s famous Gorge Trail. The park’s facilities blend rustic charm with modern comforts: clean flush toilets, hot-water showers, and convenient potable water stations. Hiking enthusiasts appreciate the interconnected trail system, which includes the popular Rim Trail for elevated views of the gorge, as well as more secluded footpaths through hemlock groves. Families particularly enjoy the nearby swimming pool and easy-access picnic areas overlooking Seneca Lake. To simplify travel logistics for out-of-state visitors, many campers opt to pre-book an airport transfer so they can arrive at Ithaca or Elmira–Corning Regional Airport and head straight to the park without the hassle of car rentals. Those planning to explore multiple stops along the Finger Lakes often choose the provider’s reliable city-to-city rides for comfortable, door-to-door transportation between destinations. All in all, Watkins Glen State Park delivers an unforgettable combination of awe-inspiring gorge hikes, well-appointed campsites, and family-friendly amenities. Campers seeking both adventure and relaxation will find this New York treasure hard to surpass.

Guide to Lansing

RV camping near Lansing, New York offers campers level, graveled sites within the heart of the Finger Lakes region. Situated between 400 and 900 feet above sea level, this area receives approximately 36 inches of annual rainfall, creating lush landscapes surrounding the long, narrow lakes. Camping season typically runs from early May through mid-October, with peak times occurring in July and August when temperatures average 70-85°F during the day.

What to do

Hiking gorge trails: At Taughannock Falls State Park Campground, trails range from easy to moderate difficulty. "The hiking to the waterfall is very manageable. There is also at least 2 other state parks within 30 minutes to visit if you have time," notes one visitor.

Wine tasting: Multiple campgrounds offer proximity to wine trails. A camper at Blueberry Patch Campground shared, "The best part about this campground is you are perfectly situated in the heart of the NY wine country! Seneca Lake is just a couple miles west and has more wineries than you can possibly visit."

Swimming in natural settings: Several parks feature swimming areas within natural surroundings. One reviewer mentioned about Fillmore Glen State Park, "The 60 camp sites are in private areas protected by wooded areas... Activities include hiking on many trails, fishing, swimming, and what I thought was unique was the spring fed swimming pool."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Buttermilk Falls State Park Campground maintains high standards for its facilities. "Been here in all the seasons, each is beautiful. Campgrounds are wooded. Pretty basic facilities, nice though. None of the tent sites have exceptional views but you're a short walk from the creek/gorges," one camper noted.

Privacy between sites: Some locations offer more seclusion than others. At Finger Lakes RV Resort, "The campground sites are very large and spread out. Being a newer campground, the trees are small, but that did not take away from the experience. Easy maneuverability, great wifi and water pressure, along with level sites make it a great place to stay."

Convenient location: Proximity to attractions is valued by many campers. "The entire place isn't the biggest but is still good. You can still do day hikes here. There is picnic tables grills and restrooms," shared a visitor to Long Point State Park.

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most campgrounds in this region have limited operating seasons. Pine Valley RV Park operates "May 1 to September 30" while Spruce Row Campground runs "May 1 - Oct 12," according to their listings.

Varying site privacy: Not all campgrounds offer the same level of privacy. A visitor to Spruce Row Campground noted, "The campground is primarily seasonal sites and the sites are very close together. We were traveling the week of July 4th so there were limited sites available."

Water access considerations: Many campgrounds require you bring your own water or plan accordingly. At Blueberry Patch, "BRING WATER. There are no water sources near the site. There is a gas station about 15 minutes away on route 79 so make sure to fill up on water and snacks."

Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds and activities: Fillmore Glen State Park Campground provides dedicated spaces for children. "Bathrooms are very clean and close to all campsites. Kids loved the park and swimming in the waterfall beach," reports one family camper.

Space for games: Some campgrounds feature open areas for recreation. A reviewer noted about Pine Valley RV Park, "This is by far one of the best family oriented campgrounds we've ever been in. The staff, the grounds, the amenities made me wish we were closer. So many things for kids to do. From boating, to giant swimming inflatables, putt putt even a giant slide."

Swimming safety: Natural swimming areas require extra attention. One camper advised about Fillmore Glen, "Swimming is only allowed in certain parts and there are some pretty steep drop offs so watch the kids close. The campground has playgrounds and areas for various sports but is pretty 'rustic' overall."

Tips from RVers

Site selection: At Woonton Family Farms, RV campers found unique experiences. "We had an excellent stay at the farm of the Woonton Family Farms with our RV, it was a cozy and beautiful campsite with personal attention of the owner. We had a great campfire, fresh blackberries and the option of canoeing."

Hookup availability: Electric service varies between campgrounds. Pine Valley RV Park offers "drinking-water, electric-hookups, fires-allowed, firewood, market, pets-allowed, picnic-table, reservable, sanitary-dump, sewer-hookups, showers, toilets, trash, water-hookups" according to their amenities list.

Road access: Consider campground road conditions when planning your RV trip. A visitor to Finger Lakes RV Resort mentioned, "Located about 1/3 of the way up the eastern side of Seneca Lake, the location provides easy access to the wineries, distilleries, and breweries along the lake."
