Rogers Rock Campground sits at the northern end of Lake George, approximately 7 miles south of Ticonderoga. The campground provides options for tent camping, RV sites, and cabin rentals within the 32-mile Lake George waterway region. Most sites remain open from mid-May through early October, with campgrounds in this area positioned between 300-400 feet elevation along the eastern Adirondack shoreline.
What to do
Kayaking and canoeing on calm waters: Rogers Rock Campground offers excellent paddling opportunities with boat rentals available at reasonable rates. "Kayaks and canoes are available to rent for about $10-$15 per day," notes John W., who adds that there's "a boat launch ramp close to the beach" making water access straightforward.
Swimming at established beaches: Lake George Riverview Campground features a river beach area with calm waters ideal for cooling off. "We had a site on the river and it was beautiful! My kids really enjoyed fishing and floating in the river," reports Happy Camper L., who found the river access provided "hours of entertainment" for their family.
Hiking nearby trails: Multiple hiking options exist within short driving distance of most camping areas. Nancy W. from Moose Hillock Camping Resorts recommends: "Nearby is good hiking in Adirondack Park where trails range from easy to difficult and have some great views of the lake and surrounding area. The Inman Pond Trail (about 15 minutes north of the campground) is a nice easy walk in the woods which takes you to a pretty pond good for fishing."
What campers like
Secluded waterfront sites: Long Island Group — Lake George Islands offers a unique camping experience on islands accessible only by boat. "Worth a trip from just about anywhere. Absolutely beautiful and you can't beat camping on an island," shares T K., highlighting one of the more distinctive accommodation options in the area.
Private, spacious camping spots: Campers consistently praise the site sizes at certain campgrounds. At Moose Hillock, Nancy W. observes: "The sites at this park are huge. You could have parked three RVs in our site. Added bonus is that there is nice separation between sites with trees and shrubs that block out your neighbors and provide lots of privacy."
Clean facilities: Scaroon Manor Campground receives high marks for maintenance. "New and clean restrooms. Just next to the lake for a swim," notes Julie V., while Mitchell C. adds, "Excellent showering facilities and a cook wash up station that was well maintained."
