Best RV Parks & Resorts near Grand Island, NY

Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday provides 213 RV sites with full hookups and operates from April through October. The campground accommodates big rigs with pull-through sites featuring concrete patios and built-in fire rings. "It was a large pull thru, nice & level and had plenty of comfortable space between it and the neighboring sites," according to one visitor's experience at site A42. AA Royal Motel & Campground stays open year-round with both back-in and pull-through sites on paved, level pads with 30 and 50-amp service options. Southwoods RV Resort in Byron offers premium gravel sites with full hookups, though sites become somewhat cramped during peak season when the park fills to capacity.

Throughout the region, most RV parks provide convenient access to Niagara Falls, typically within a 15-30 minute drive. Cell service varies by location, with stronger connections reported at parks closer to major roads. Dump stations are available at state parks like Four Mile Creek and Evangola for RVs without full hookups. Multiple reviewers noted highway noise at certain campgrounds, particularly those closest to Interstate 190. Pet policies differ between facilities—most private RV parks welcome pets but state campgrounds require proof of rabies vaccination. Winter camping options are extremely limited, with AA Royal Motel & Campground being one of the few facilities open year-round for RV travelers needing accommodation during colder months.

    Evangola State Park Campground

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Simple campground on Lake Ontario

We stayed here because it was near Niagara Falls and had site availability. We stayed at a non-electric campsite (mid-June). There were 4 other campsites occupied in our area. We have a camper van with solar power and fresh water. There is a shower in the non-electric section but it's not heated water. Since it's June, the temperature was only mildly shocking to my senses. However, the rest of the showers in the campground are heated (we checked). There are at least two laundry facilities. I actually exchanged cash for quarters at the front office. The grounds are well maintained. Beware of the resident skunk that walks around. I didn't test the cell signal here but I was able to work remotely and video chat.

    Cinderella Motel & Campsite

Basic, Convenient, VFM (value for money)

This campground is very basic with very close campsites.  The bathhouse and laundry are old but clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very close to Niagara falls and for the money it is the best campground here.  KOA and Branches CGs are nicer but they are also triple the price which for us did not seem worth it.  We were in a back in gravel site that backed up to the motel which may not seem that nice but the electric, water and sewer worked perfectly.  Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare.  There were sites that were on the outskirts of the property that backed to the woods which some people may prefer.  Those sites were just as close although there were several that would take big rigs bit don't expect to open your awnings in most sites.   There is a nice grassy area in the center with a small covered pavilion.   There are a few sites on the side/front of Motel.  We were here to visit Niagara Falls so location and a basic campground with full hookups was all we were looking for and this campground fit our needs perfectly.  We would stay here again.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

An old campsite that fits our needs

This is not a resort campground nor is it a campground built for escapism. It’s very close to Niagara Falls, the Rainbow Bridge (for driving into Canada), and Buffalo, NY.

Mike is very friendly; check in was easy. The sites are full hook up or w/e only. There are pull throughs and back-ins, 30amp and 50amp sites. Your site is assigned once you arrive. You pay a deposit when you book and pay the rest when you arrive.

They have Good Sam and weekly discounts and I was also given a cash/check discount. So our total was $51 a night for a week’s stay.

The sites toward the front are definitely more level and have better cell service, but the sites toward the back are better shaded. Cell service and wifi was enough for me to work during the week and stream at night.

The facilities could use some work. They are very old, and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or just old. Laundry is available - $2.50 a wash/$1.75 a dry.

Basically, don’t expect a beautiful vacation campground. I work full time remotely from the camper. I was able to work during the days and get to Niagara Falls, CAN, and Buffalo quickly after work. Even with the discount, which I’m thankful for, it is overpriced for what it is. But it served my needs, I felt safe, and the owner was friendly so 3 stars. With some TLC to the sites and the facilities, I’d give it 4.

    Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday

    Nice campground with full hookups

Niagara Falls– Grand Island KOA is a nice park. With it being close in proximity to the Niagara Falls made nice but many turn over of campers making this a busy park. The sites were level and our site had full hook ups. We were in a pull through site towards the back of the park which is closes area of the park to the freeway which during the day lots of road noise but did quiet down at night. This Park offers the KOA normal amenities however they recently upgraded the Main Pool Area and were in the process of installing a new playground structure. Fishing pond and paddle boats.

Things we did in the area Niagara Falls State Park. There is an activity center within walking distance of the campground that offers Mini-Golf, Go-Karts, and Laser Tag.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

    Good location

This campground is open year around which is really hard to find in this area. We needed to come here for personal reasons before any other campground was opened. So far this isn’t bad could be better/ cleaner.

It is 50 amp full hook up with free Wi-Fi that doesn’t suck.

The site are paved level back ins and pull throughs

The staff was nice enough. Haven’t had much interaction with him.

There is a great Italian store right across the street and Niagara Falls down the road. I would stay here in a pinch again

Guide to Grand Island

Camping opportunities near Grand Island, New York offer easy access to Niagara Falls while providing varied accommodation options for recreational vehicles. The region sits along the Niagara River, with most campgrounds located at elevations between 600-700 feet above sea level. Local summer temperatures typically range from 70-85°F during peak camping season, with rainfall most common in May and June.

What to do

Amusement park access: Six Flags Darien Lake Campground provides convenient entry to its adjacent theme park. "The campground is great if you're into the theme park... The bathrooms were always easy to find and clean," notes one visitor. The campground fees typically include park admission, making it economical for families planning multiple days at attractions.

Water recreation: Several campgrounds offer swimming pools as alternatives to visiting the falls. "Southwoods is a beautiful campground and accommodates campers of all ages. 2 well kept pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball," says a Southwoods RV Resort visitor. The resort's recreational amenities make it suitable for extended stays.

Nature trails: Some campgrounds provide short hiking opportunities on property. "There is a short nature trail through a wooded area," notes a Southwoods visitor describing the wooded section available for exploring. These trails offer quick morning or evening walks without leaving the campground.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained bathrooms and grounds as standout features. "Bathrooms were very clean. Quiet campground. Lots of plays areas for kids," reports a Southwoods reviewer. Regular maintenance schedules keep facilities functional even during peak season.

Friendly staff: Management responsiveness rates highly at several rv parks near Grand Island. "DYLAN & TIFFANY ARE AWESOME! THEY ARE HELPFUL CARING AND SO NICE!!!" shares an enthusiastic Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday guest. Staff assistance with directions, local recommendations, and campground issues contributes significantly to positive experiences.

Recreational options: On-site activities provide entertainment alternatives to Niagara Falls tourism. "Jump pad... fishing ponds... playgrounds," mentions a KOA visitor, highlighting features that keep families entertained when not sightseeing. These amenities become particularly valuable during longer stays or rainy days.

What you should know

Site spacing varies: Site proximity becomes a consideration during peak season. "Weekend sites would be pretty tight together if they were fully booked," notes a Southwoods reviewer. Sites at most campgrounds become closer when at capacity, particularly during summer weekends and holidays.

Noise factors: Several campgrounds experience noise from nearby transportation routes. "There is a train track near camping," mentions a Six Flags Darien Lake Campground reviewer. At Niagara Falls Campground, another camper notes: "Basic, clean campground about 20 mins from the Falls... The noises of the town made it very difficult to sleep in our tent."

Seasonal limitations: Operating schedules typically run April through October. "Open from April 1 - October 31. Closed from November 1 - March 31," states the Niagara Falls Campground listing. Water systems at most facilities are winterized during colder months, making off-season camping impossible at most locations.

Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Multiple campgrounds offer structured recreation programs. At Southwoods, "Family friendly park, lots of activities, park hosts/owners are hands on and awesome," notes one camper. Programs typically run weekends during shoulder season and daily during summer months.

Safety considerations: Gated facilities provide additional security for families with children. "The campground is gated and very clean and well-groomed," mentions a Skyline RV Resort visitor. This physical security allows parents to relax while children explore within campground boundaries.

Kid-friendly amenities: Specific facilities cater to families with children of different ages. "Good size campsites, mostly open. Grassy areas for tents. Fun activities for all ages of children," reports a KOA guest. Playgrounds typically accommodate ages 3-12, while recreational fields suit older children and teens.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: RV campers recommend researching specific site details before booking. "We chose a back-in 50-amp full hook-up site (M28) at $42/night. All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn't need any extensions," explains a Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging visitor, demonstrating the importance of understanding precise site layout.

Leveling requirements: Ground conditions affect setup ease at various Grand Island area rv parks. "It was a large pull thru, nice & level and had plenty of comfortable space between it and the neighboring sites," reports a KOA visitor describing their experience.

Local navigation: RVers should plan routes carefully when approaching campgrounds. "Note: if you are coming in from the southern side, DO NOT GO THROUGH DOWNTOWN BUFFALO like we did! PAY THE TOLLS!" advises a KOA camper. Most GPS systems don't account for RV height restrictions or narrow roads, making local knowledge valuable.
