Finger Lakes RV Resort in Hector features spacious pull-through rv pads with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups, designed to accommodate large motorhomes on level gravel sites. Pine Valley RV Park near Endicott provides full-service hookups from May through September with big-rig friendly access. "Sites are moderately spacious but a little packed together," notes one camper about Clute Park, which offers waterfront RV camping on Seneca Lake with full hookup rv sites. Watkins Glen/Corning KOA accommodates all RV sizes with both 30 and 50-amp service, featuring deluxe sites with paved patios for an additional fee, though some visitors mention maneuvering can be tricky due to fencing at the front and back of sites.

Between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes, motorhome sites typically require reservations during peak summer and fall foliage seasons. Dump stations are available at most parks, though older state park campgrounds like Taughannock Falls have more limited facilities for larger RVs. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, cell service varies considerably—Watkins Glen State Park campground maintains excellent Verizon coverage in the Mohawk Village loop, suitable for remote work using mobile hotspots. Many parks provide trash pickup directly from sites, with Finger Lakes RV Resort offering daily collection. Winter camping options are limited, with most private RV parks closing after October, though seasonal sites are available at several locations including Clute Park for longer-term stays. Pet-friendly accommodations are standard, but restrictions apply in certain areas of state parks.

Robert H. Treman State Park Campground

      Good location

Location: This park is close to Ithaca which was the best part. Trails and Natural Features: We loved the waterfall, swimming area (seasonal so closed when we stayed), and the fall colors. Sites: They have very few electric sites so we decided to boondock. It surprised me that all the full hookup sites were reserved but very people actually showed up for their reservations while we stayed. Lame. And heads up that if you don’t stay in the big clearing for big rigs, there are tight turns between trees to get in and out of the non-electric sites. We ended up making a back-in site into a pull-through site… whoops. Starlink: I work remotely so internet is important. We weren’t camping in the clearing because those sites were booked, but even the Starlink struggled where we were and I ended up working from the library in town. So heads up if you need internet. Bathrooms: They were spacious but older. Temperature in the showers was tricky. Hot is cold and cold it hot. Cool stuff: They had compost bins and provide bags for all campers. That’s cool!

      Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground

Great campground in PA northern tier

The owners do a fantastic job keeping the campground shipshape. Restrooms/showers are immaculate any time of day. Heated swimming pool and the splash pad for kiddies is spotless as well. Nice, pull-through on gravel pad withfull-hookups that can take large rigs. Lake is lovely for fishing/kayaks/canoes. Seasonal campers are tidy. Only a few tent sites with water & electricity tucked into woods. Larger pull-through sites don't get a lot of shade, but there are back-in sites for shorter campers in wooded sites and shaded lake front, as well. Campground store sells ice-cream & nachos and supplies. Campground is pretty quiet during the week, but fills up on weekends with guests using own (or renting) golf carts. Activities on weekends. The campground sits atop one of NEPA's "rolling hills" in quiet, rural farming area. Cell service is spotty. Local winery/cafe just down the road for tastings and lunch. Row boat, paddle boat rentals.

      Finger Lakes RV Resort

Beautiful new spacious RV resort in excellent location.

We arrived on Saturday, 10.8.22 and are staying for a week. This is a delightful location. Rachel and Doug are cheerful, attentive, and very personable owners who are on-site at almost all times. This park just opened this year, so we checked in at an entrance building that they're using until their primary building is complete. We were greeted with delicious cookies, our site(#9) backs up to a wooded area(with a hiking path buried in there) with a lot of space. We booked early, which was a good thing because they were 100% full for Indigenous People's Day. We chose this site because there was a lot of room around it and we're used to really tightly packed RV parks. But what we found is that all of the sites are very nicely spread out with generous spacing, so that's not an issue. It's still nice to be on the outskirts. We also chose this section per a review we read to be away from the main road noise, but there really isn't much road noise to worry about, anyway. The WiFi is strong and consistent. We're using 30amps, but they also have 20 and 50amp service to each site. The water pressure is great. The bath house is new and very comfortable. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring and lots of room for big rigs. We watched Doug neaten up sites after other RV's vacated, which shows an attention to detail we don't often find. They also drive by each site every morning to collect trash and recycling. The sunsets are spectacular over the lake(we can't see the lake from here, but it's close). There are numerous award-winning wineries surrounding us and up and down the lake. We're headed out for tastings today. We've been hiking the last few days- Watkins Glen State Park- Gorge Trail(go early or it gets REALLY crowded), Taughannock State Park- Gorge& North Ridge Trail over on Cayuga Lake, and a concert(Rufus Wainwright) at Point of the Bluff Winery over on Keuka Lake. We stopped afterward for dinner in Hammondsport at Timber Stone Grill which was truly wonderful. That's about 35- 45 minutes away. Lots more hiking trails to do in the National Forest and surrounding areas. And there's Watkins Glen, a charming town just minutes away. We highly recommend Finger Lakes RV Resort and we'll be back!

Blueberry Patch Campground — Green Mountain & Finger Lakes National Forests

      Simple

The only Finger Lakes National Forest designated campground, Blueberry Patch offers a secluded experience in the heart of this sometimes overlooked beautiful geographic region in the State of New York. This campground offers a simple experience, with fire rings and picnic tables at each site and seems to accommodate just tent and small campers. Vault toilets available. On a week day in early summer, 3 of the 9 campsites we’re occupied. Can see it filling up on weekends. Enjoy!

      Ferenbaugh Campground

      Relaxing place to stay

This CG has two distinct sections. Near the entrance is the Pull Through Area. Behind a row of trees there are several sites with full hookups including cable TV and Wi-Fi. The sites are open, reasonably level, and a good size. The other sites are in the woods, most of these sites do not have sewer connections. There is a honey wagon service available. We camped with a relative who was new and we were teaching them how to operate their camper. We had a couple of dry days then some rain. Still was a great teaching/learning experience.

Make sure you use a water filter, there was a lot of sediment in the water when we were there. See pictures of 4 days on a new cartridge.

We had a fantastic sunrise one morning.

      Leonard Harrison State Park Campground

Site 17 Site maps can be deceptive

General: This is a small 28-site campground located on the east rim of the canyon; seven of the sites are electric and six of them are pet-friendly. We reserved site 17 after looking at the site map because it looked like there was a generous amount of separation between this site and the surrounding ones, however, upon arrival, this was not the case. Although some of the sites are generous in size, there is no physical separation between them. Site 1 would, in my opinion, be the best of the non-electric sites for privacy. Sites 6 and 8, while close to the bathhouse, would likely have people walking through your site to get to the bathhouse. Campers have worn a path between these sites to access it. Props to this park for having recycling bins for plastic, glass, and aluminum. While this park is open year-round, the campground is only open from the second Friday in April through the third weekend in October.

Site Quality: The parking pad is delineated by rocks but not very clearly defined. There is a generously sized picnic table and fire ring to complete the grassy site.

Bathhouse: Very clean (we have found most Pennsylvania state parks excel in their bathhouse cleanliness). Hot water (definitely appreciated on this cold weekend!) and one handicap accessible shower (but it was too cold while we were there to want to take a shower although it did look inviting).

Activities: Two hiking trails on the east rim where the campground is located. The Turkey Path was closed about ¾ mile down (by the waterfall) due to storm damage. Although the trail was clearly marked closed at this point, many chose to ignore it and continue on☹. This trail is challenging as it has steep switchbacks down and back up again and it is narrow and slippery but definitely worth doing. The Overlook Trail, while not long (less than a mile), is also challenging with down and uphills. If you don’t want to (or can’t) access these trails, there is an observation platform where you can enjoy great views of the canyon. All of these trails are accessible from the campground. There is also a long multi-use trail for hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. There is a nice playground accessible from the campground.

Conclusion: We were here the last weekend the campground was open and while the fall foliage was not experiencing the best year, it was still very beautiful at this park, and we enjoyed the hikes.

      Keuka Lake State Park Campground

      Wonderful Finger Lakes Camping

Large grassy sites with privacy between the sites. Most sites have a good level gravel pad to park on.

We stayed in the non-electric loop with a small travel trailer, but there are electric sites available. Spigots for water are spaced well enough that with a few lengths you can fill up.

The hike to the beach wasn't too bad through the woods, with ones being a grassy walking path and the other being a dirt trail through the woods. The beach is typically crowded.

This is a place I would always recommend.

      Ives Run

      Best campground in Northcentral PA

Taking everything into consideration, it’s hard to find a nicer campground to stay for a night or two weeks.

      • clean, well maintained and monitored.

      • large sites on macadam pads. Large fields behind most sites for activities.

      • full hook ups available

      • numerous hiking trails, large lake for boating, fishing and swimming.

      • centrally located between Mansfield, Wellsboro and Corning

      *pet friendly. Alcohol allowed

the only draw back is that it fills up quickly and you need to reserve many months ahead of time especially for holidays. Not group camping friendly because of the reservation system. No pavilions for group activities within the Campground

    Guide to Elmira

Camping options near Elmira, New York range from state parks to private campgrounds across the Southern Tier region, with elevations generally between 850-1,200 feet above sea level. The area experiences four distinct seasons with summer highs averaging 80°F, while fall brings colorful foliage from mid-September through October. Most campgrounds operate seasonally from May through October due to harsh winter conditions.

    What to do

Waterfall hiking trails: Eagle Cliff Falls at Havana Glen offers a short but rewarding hike. "Short trail with lots of steps to a lovely waterfall in a typical Finger Lakes kind of gorge. Camp sites wooded and short walk from good views," explains camper Dan N. about Havana Glen.

Fishing ponds: Many campgrounds maintain stocked fishing areas for catch-and-release. At Ferenbaugh Campground, campers enjoy "a fenced in pond for catch and release fishing and live music one weekend a month. They also have themed weekends," according to Gary V.

Lake activities: Park Station Campground features a man-made lake perfect for family swimming. "Sandy beach, man-made lake with enough space to swim, and boating to explore. Nice trail around the lake to walk or bike with a little difficulty," reports Becky S.

Wine tours: The Finger Lakes wine region surrounds Elmira with dozens of wineries. "Nearby wineries and many wine drinkers camp here along with enjoying beautiful finger Lakes," notes Rob M. about camping near Watkins Glen.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently praise well-maintained bathrooms at many rv sites near Elmira, New York. At Finger Lakes RV Resort, Matt S. reports "Everything is in great condition and clean. Daily trash and recycling pick-up from each site."

Private wooded sites: Park Station Campground earns praise for its natural setting. "Small, beautifully kept and the staff is absolutely amazing. The fishing is great, the amenities are very clean and there is not a bad site in the park," shares Ryan D.

Family-friendly activities: Campgrounds with dedicated children's amenities receive top ratings. Nicole D. describes Ferenbaugh Campground as having "Pool, Fishing Pond, Pavilion with Bands and Activities, Mini Golf, Camp Store.... Pretty laid back park in a beautiful area."

Access to regional attractions: The central location makes campgrounds near Elmira ideal base camps. "Convenient location to explore the Finger Lakes. 30-40 minutes from Watkins Glen, Ithaca and Corning," states Mike C. about Park Station Campground.

    What you should know

Water quality varies: Some campgrounds have sediment issues. At Ferenbaugh Campground, a full-timer noted: "The only bad comment I would make is their water is very smelly and brown. I actually bought a dual stage water filter and change it every two weeks."

Reservation requirements: Most camping facilities near Elmira fill quickly during peak season. "This campground has a nice small beach area with sand for the kids. Water is very shallow however, so not the best place for swimming for older kids," explains Jessica G. about Park Station Campground.

GPS directions can be unreliable: Some campgrounds have access issues with navigation systems. "Standard GPS directions for this campground are wrong, (coming from 15N they have you turn right at the end of the ramp, you need to turn left) So plot your route before you go," warns B C.

Seasonal limitations: Most RV parks and campgrounds near Elmira operate from May through September. Pine Valley RV Park's season runs "May 1 to September 30" according to their listing information.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground facilities: Look for campgrounds with updated play equipment. Jessica G. notes Park Station has "a newer and good sized playground in the day visit area. Campsites are mostly all on gravel so make sure you bring air mattresses or lots of padding if you will be in a tent."

Swimming options: Several campgrounds offer swimming areas suitable for different age groups. At Pine Valley RV Park, one reviewer raves, "This is by far one of the best family oriented campgrounds we've ever been in. The staff, the grounds, the amenities made me wish we were closer. So many things for kids to do. From boating, to giant swimming inflatables, putt putt even a giant slide."

Activity scheduling: Family-oriented campgrounds often offer organized events. "This CG has two distinct sections. Near the entrance is the Pull Through Area. Behind a row of trees there are several sites with full hookups including cable TV and Wi-Fi," describes Michael H. at Ferenbaugh Campground.

Beach access: Several camping areas provide sandy beaches for children. "It's a classic, a staple in my childhood experiences. Sandy beach, man-made lake with enough space to swim, and boating to explore," reminisces Becky S.

    Tips from RVers

Site measurements: Some RV campers report discrepancies in site dimensions. At Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park PA Wilds, one camper shared: "The site we booked online had bad measurements, so when we got there we found our trailer wouldn't fit. The camp map is close but not very accurate, so calling them to book if you have any questions is the way to go."

Water sediment issues: Multiple RV sites near Elmira, New York have reported water quality concerns. "Make sure you use a water filter, there was a lot of sediment in the water when we were there. See pictures of 4 days on a new cartridge," advises Michael H.

Internet connectivity: Working campers report varying WiFi quality. Craig F. at Finger Lakes RV Resort shared: "Easy maneuverability, great wifi and water pressure, along with level sites make it a great place to stay."

Access roads: Some campgrounds have challenging approach roads. "The entry road to the campground itself is a very steep, narrow road with a small curve at the top. It's well-maintained but keep an eye out for campers coming down. There's space for getting by but it's tight," warns B C.
