Best Campgrounds near Avon, NY

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Developed campgrounds near Avon, New York span several scenic areas including Letchworth State Park and Conesus Lake. The region includes established campground options accommodating tent camping, RV sites, and cabin rentals, most operating from May through October. Letchworth State Park Campground, located about 15 miles southwest of Avon, features electric hookups at all sites and is known for its impressive gorge views. Nearby Conesus Lake Campground provides waterfront recreation opportunities with boat-in access and full-service amenities including electric, water, and sewer hookups for RVs alongside traditional tent sites.

Most campgrounds in the area require reservations, particularly during summer months when tourism peaks. "We went 4 days after they opened and raccoons were a small issue even at a clean campsite," noted one Letchworth visitor, highlighting the importance of proper food storage even at developed sites. Terrain varies considerably across the region, with some campgrounds featuring steep topography that impacts site accessibility. Conesus Lake Campground reviews mention a significant hill that affects mobility, with one camper noting "the hill is a killer" though rentable golf carts help solve this challenge. Weather conditions remain favorable for camping from May through mid-October, with most facilities closing by late October.

Campers consistently rate the natural features as primary draws to the area. Letchworth State Park, often called the "Grand Canyon of the East," receives particular praise for its three major waterfalls and extensive trail network. A visitor reported, "Wandering around the gorge is so beautiful and relaxing; the views and sights inside the park are amazing." Family-friendly amenities appear throughout the region's campgrounds, with facilities like Conesus Lake offering swimming pools, playgrounds, and boat rentals. Several reviews mention wildlife encounters including raccoons and skunks, particularly at Letchworth. Most developed campgrounds provide modern bathroom facilities with shower access, with one reviewer specifically praising Genesee Country Campground for "very clean" bathrooms and private tent sites.

    Big Guys Campground

    Activities for all ages!

There is so much to do at this camp! They have a jump pillow, pool arcade, movie room, RC track, and bingo for everyone. They have live music at tavern on the property with great food! They have a disc golf field, fishing, and so many places to go on the golf carts! They also go in big on their themed weekends. Great place to go if you want the kids exhausted at the end of the day!!

    Niagara County Camping Resort

    Niagra County Camping Resort

Arrived late at night to this established site. This is a mixed accommodation campground with established long term residents & short term sites.

Some sites include a table, power access and tire rim for fire-ring. Showers & flushing toilets are near RV sites in back area. Small camp store, swimming pond & fishing pond. Manager, Christine very nice & helpful.

Campground is relatively close to scenic drives along Lake Ontario & Niagra State Park, Niagra Falls.

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Inexpensive, Peaceful.

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions, twice in RV 12 and once in RV 6.

I used the 30 AMP hookup and had zero issues.

Beautiful playground for my son to enjoy and meet other kiddos. Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours.

    Large dumpsters near entrance.

Dump stations are present, but I haven't used them yet.

Potable water is present at a small spigot.

The washrooms facility is very close and speaking for the men's side, it had 2 stalls, 2 urinals, 2 showers, multiple sinks, and a sturdy baby changing station.

Hiking trails with gorgeous views of the valley within a 5 min walk of my campsite.

    Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground

    Kid friendly but Bee Problem

We had a lot of fun here and there’s a lot of activities for kids I would typically give this campsite 5 stars but our only problem was there were bees everywhere. I get some bees are apart of the camping experience and nature but we’ve never ran into this problem elsewhere. They were all over the campground it was very unpleasant and there was a nest under the playground we did advise management of.

    Hamlin Beach State Park Campground

    Relaxing 2 weeks

The camp store is closed along with no firewood and no laundry.

We stayed for 2 weeks and it was so relaxing. We loved biking through the loops and by the beach at the park. There was live music at the park during the week. The campground has an activity room full of things to do. As a state park, there are a lot of different people with different values, so be ready for the occasional obnoxious family. Our site was secluded and in the pines. We love it here and will definitely do this again!

    Stay Bristol Woodlands

    Well maintained and friendly Staff!

Campground is adorable, you can see a lot of other campers, but the spots are spaced out. Showers were nice, didn’t get to try the pool out as it was a quick stopover, but this seems like a fun place to spend some time
