Best RV Parks & Resorts near Albion, NY

Several RV parks surround Albion with various hookup options and seasonal availability. Southwoods RV Resort in Byron operates from May 1 to October 31 with full hookups including 50-amp service and accommodates big rigs on gravel pads. "The campground is quite large and has separate sections for seasonal and transient campers and has a variety of different campsites from back-ins to pull-thrus," noted one visitor who appreciated the well-placed utilities. Red Rock Ponds RV Resort in Holley provides similar amenities with a season running May through mid-October, though reviews indicate sites are primarily occupied by seasonal campers. Hickory Ridge Golf & RV Resort combines camping with golf access on sites that accommodate both tents and RVs, while Skyline RV Resort in Darien Center features both 30-amp and 50-amp service options.

Advance reservations are essential during peak summer months and fall foliage season when parks reach capacity. Most RV parks in the region maintain gated access with typical check-in times between 1-3 PM and check-out by 11 AM. Sanitary dump stations are available at most facilities, though some reviews mention waiting lines during busy weekend departures. Cell service varies throughout the area, with stronger signals at parks closer to Rochester. Pet policies differ between facilities—Southwoods and Red Rock Ponds explicitly welcome pets, while Johnson RV Sites has restrictions. Winter camping options are extremely limited as nearly all parks close between late October and early May. The proximity to Lake Ontario means occasional strong winds, particularly at sites without natural windbreaks.

    Canandaigua-Rochester KOA

    Camping near Canandaigua, New York

Campers exploring the Canandaigua area discover a delightful mix of lakeside retreats, wooded state parks, and family-friendly RV resorts. Just minutes from downtown, Canandaigua City Park Campground offers easy access to local shops and the lakefront beach, making it a convenient base for those who want town amenities within walking distance. A short drive farther out leads to Keuka Lake State Park Campground and the privately owned Canandaigua-Rochester KOA, both of which feature spacious sites, clean facilities, and excellent opportunities for swimming, kayaking, and fishing on the Finger Lakes. For those seeking a quieter experience, numerous backcountry and dispersed sites are tucked into the surrounding National Forest, where campers can truly unplug—though it’s essential to bring all necessary supplies and practice Leave No Trace principles. Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill and the Stay Bristol Woodlands campground blend rustic charm with modern comforts: well-maintained restrooms, picnic shelters, and on-site hiking trails that wind through hardwood forests and offer scenic overlooks, especially stunning during fall foliage season. Travel logistics are a breeze when visitors prearrange an airport shuttle from Rochester or Syracuse airports, ensuring a smooth transition from plane to campsite. And for adventurers mapping out multiple stops across the Finger Lakes or beyond, reliable multi-city transfers provide comfortable, door-to-door rides—no rental car necessary. With its blend of waterfront sites, wooded hideaways, and nearby attractions—wineries, waterfalls, and historic villages—the Canandaigua region truly has something for every type of camper. Whether pitching a tent under the stars or rolling in with an RV, visitors will find endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Simple campground on Lake Ontario

We stayed here because it was near Niagara Falls and had site availability. We stayed at a non-electric campsite (mid-June). There were 4 other campsites occupied in our area. We have a camper van with solar power and fresh water. There is a shower in the non-electric section but it's not heated water. Since it's June, the temperature was only mildly shocking to my senses. However, the rest of the showers in the campground are heated (we checked). There are at least two laundry facilities. I actually exchanged cash for quarters at the front office. The grounds are well maintained. Beware of the resident skunk that walks around. I didn't test the cell signal here but I was able to work remotely and video chat.

    Cinderella Motel & Campsite

Basic, Convenient, VFM (value for money)

This campground is very basic with very close campsites.  The bathhouse and laundry are old but clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very close to Niagara falls and for the money it is the best campground here.  KOA and Branches CGs are nicer but they are also triple the price which for us did not seem worth it.  We were in a back in gravel site that backed up to the motel which may not seem that nice but the electric, water and sewer worked perfectly.  Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare.  There were sites that were on the outskirts of the property that backed to the woods which some people may prefer.  Those sites were just as close although there were several that would take big rigs bit don't expect to open your awnings in most sites.   There is a nice grassy area in the center with a small covered pavilion.   There are a few sites on the side/front of Motel.  We were here to visit Niagara Falls so location and a basic campground with full hookups was all we were looking for and this campground fit our needs perfectly.  We would stay here again.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

An old campsite that fits our needs

This is not a resort campground nor is it a campground built for escapism. It’s very close to Niagara Falls, the Rainbow Bridge (for driving into Canada), and Buffalo, NY.

Mike is very friendly; check in was easy. The sites are full hook up or w/e only. There are pull throughs and back-ins, 30amp and 50amp sites. Your site is assigned once you arrive. You pay a deposit when you book and pay the rest when you arrive.

They have Good Sam and weekly discounts and I was also given a cash/check discount. So our total was $51 a night for a week’s stay.

The sites toward the front are definitely more level and have better cell service, but the sites toward the back are better shaded. Cell service and wifi was enough for me to work during the week and stream at night.

The facilities could use some work. They are very old, and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or just old. Laundry is available - $2.50 a wash/$1.75 a dry.

Basically, don’t expect a beautiful vacation campground. I work full time remotely from the camper. I was able to work during the days and get to Niagara Falls, CAN, and Buffalo quickly after work. Even with the discount, which I’m thankful for, it is overpriced for what it is. But it served my needs, I felt safe, and the owner was friendly so 3 stars. With some TLC to the sites and the facilities, I’d give it 4.

    Webster Park

    Close Family Camping

We go to webster park family campground several times a year for the past few years. Usually sometime in early May and in late October with an occasional day or two mid summer. It is a smaller single loop campground with sites for tents/small trailers, larger trailers, and motor homes. He difference is 30a power and no water or sewer, 50a power and water, and 50a power and water/sewer. There is a dump station. The motor home sites are all along the entrance road. The small and large trailer sites are distributed around the loop. Nice central playground and bathroom/shower house. There is hiking in the park, lots of nice woods, big field for playing games/sports. It’s close to town and home for us. We stay close to the playground these days in our pop up usually at site 5 so our 5 and 9 year old can walk or ride to campground. We like site 1 as well. We stay on the outer ring on that side of loop as it gives access to the woods and trails behind the sites. The campground is very quiet and very kid friendly to allow them to walk around and ride or scooter the loop alone.

They allow reservations online on the monroe county parks website, and are open May 1st to October 31st.

Guide to Albion

The Albion area sits within Orleans County, New York, at an average elevation of 513 feet above sea level. This region experiences distinct seasonal changes with summer highs averaging 80°F and winter lows frequently below freezing. RV camping near Albion, New York provides access to both Lake Ontario's shoreline to the north and the historic Erie Canal corridor running east-west through the region.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Lakeside State Park Campground, located about 20 minutes north of Albion, offers excellent fishing access. One camper noted, "Many have views of Lake Ontario. It's real quiet there as most people fish or go visit tourist areas in nearby Niagara Falls."

Water recreation: Though swimming isn't available at all campgrounds, some offer alternative water activities. At Southwoods RV Resort, "We stayed in August and we really enjoyed the setup and location of all the amenities this campground has," including two swimming pools perfect for cooling off during summer months.

Golf access: Camping near Albion provides opportunities to combine camping with golf. Hickory Ridge Golf & RV Resort offers this unique combination, though one visitor noted, "This spot is all right, but it's not really the vibe for weekend campers. It's definitely more of a 'locals only' kind of feel as it is a country club and golf resort primarily."

What campers like

Family-friendly environments: Many Albion area campgrounds cater specifically to families. At Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort, "The speed limit is 5 MPH and they mean it.... Kids on bikes and having a good time in the enormous play area and the pool far enough from the campsites but close to the store and watchful eye of the staff."

Rural tranquility: Campers appreciate the peaceful agricultural setting. A visitor to Southwoods RV Resort mentioned, "The campground is about 20-25 miles from downtown Rochester and located in a quiet rural setting surrounded by farmland."

Recreational amenities: On-site activities enhance the camping experience without leaving the grounds. One camper at Southwoods RV Resort highlighted that "The campground has lots of amenities like two swimming pools, nice camp store (with lots of food, souvenirs, and gifts), a large playground, miniature golf, sand volleyball and basketball courts, large recreation hall/wedding venue, bicycle track, and game room."

What you should know

Train noise: Some campgrounds experience occasional railway disturbances. A visitor to Southwoods RV Resort observed, "There is a train track near the park which occasionally is quite noisy."

Seasonal limitations: Most RV parks close during colder months. At Red Rock Ponds RV Resort, the operating season runs "May 1 - Oct 18," which aligns with most campgrounds in the region.

Site spacing considerations: Site density varies significantly between campgrounds. A camper at Red Rock Ponds noted it was "kinda close to other campers. Geared toward more seasonal campers," while another mentioned it "appears more for permanent campers."

Weather challenges: The northern New York location brings specific weather patterns. A Lakeside State Park visitor shared, "We camped here for 4 days of rain, rain and more rain. I have camped in the rain before, but, because our site was wide open with NO trees, it quickly turned into a mud pit."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Choose campgrounds with dedicated children's play areas. At Lakeside State Park Campground, "There are playgrounds near each loop, and there's a fully functioning Camp Store."

Biking opportunities: Flat terrain makes for kid-friendly cycling. One Lakeside visitor recommended, "There are plenty of playgrounds for the kids and the roads are flat--perfect for bike riding."

Swimming options: Not all campgrounds have water access despite lake proximity. A Lakeside camper warned, "It's a very nice park if you want to sit by the water but dont want to touch it. theres really not much of a beach if any at all," adding that "there is a decent cliff to get to the water."

Theme park adjacency: For entertainment-focused family camping, consider amusement park proximity. Six Flags Darien Lake Campground provides "walking distance to the theme park. Campground fees include admission to the theme park," according to one visitor who described it as "a great family campground."

Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Be prepared for uneven sites at some locations. One RVer at Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort shared, "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach. We changed sites three times and finally resigned ourselves to not being leveled."

Utility placement: Check hookup locations before selecting sites. A Southwoods RV Resort visitor noted, "All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn't need any extensions. The water pressure and electric were good."

Site surface types: Different campgrounds offer varied pad materials. At Southwoods, "Most of the roads in the park are paved with the exception of the pull-thru section in the front of the park which is gravel. All campsite pads are gravel except for three long pull-thrus that are paved."

Weekend capacity changes: Prepare for different experiences on weekdays versus weekends. One RVer at Southwoods experienced "the park going from half full and quiet to packed with lots of music, all-day fires, and big gatherings."
