Best RV Parks & Resorts near Clark, NJ

Several RV parks operate within 30 miles of Clark, New Jersey, providing varying levels of accommodation for motorhome travelers. Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City offers 90 sites with electric hookups, water, and a dump station, though sites are tightly spaced in what is essentially a parking lot with utilities. "The 'campground' is literally a parking lot with water & electric hookups. Larger rigs will barely have a yard," noted one visitor. NWS Earle RV Park in Colts Neck features full hookups including 50-amp service on concrete pads with attached patios, operating seasonally from April through mid-November. Military Park NJ National Guard Training Center provides nine RV sites with full hookups near the shore, while Black Bear RV Park in Florida, NY maintains 74 sites with 50-amp service, water, and sewer connections year-round.

Navigation challenges exist for larger motorhomes at several parks in the region. The entrance to some campgrounds requires careful maneuvering, particularly for fifth wheels and class A motorhomes. A recent review warned, "Do NOT come over the Frenchtown bridge. It is WAY too narrow - it's hard to even have two Honda Civics passing, much less any type of RV or TT." Cell service varies significantly between locations, with some parks reporting spotty coverage across all carriers. Dump stations are available at most parks, though some have awkward positioning that requires parking over the sewage connection. Reservation requirements differ by season, with shore-adjacent parks filling quickly during summer months. Pet policies vary considerably - some military campgrounds prohibit pets entirely while others welcome them with designated pet-friendly sites.

    Adventure Bound Camping (Tall Pines)

    Deceiving Website

We stayed at Adventure Bound Tall Pines in Elmer, New Jersey, for Memorial Day weekend for a quick getaway. Despite reserving and paying for a“Premium” site, it fell far short. But there were still a few things we liked…

    THINGS I LIKED:

    1. Super-friendly staff, especially Allie, who was courteous and seemed to try to make things right

    2. Lots of mature shade trees

    3. DJ at the pool Saturday and Sunday and live band Saturday evening

    4. Close proximity to Delsea Drive-in Theatre and Cohenzick Zoo

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH:

    1. I reserved and paid-in-full for a premium site which listed 50-amp service and a concrete pad. Nope. Only 30-amp service and no concrete pad. When I called the office, assuming there must’ve been a mistake, I was told by two different staff members that their website is“wonky.” I wouldn’t mind as much, but this weekend was 90-degrees each day and humid, so it would’ve been good to have air conditioning.

    2. The entire park was dirty sand with weeds growing everywhere

    3. This place is not big-rig friendly, difficult to navigate some of the turns in our 45’ motorhome and taking scratches from tree branches that should be trimmed

    4. I paid$432 for 3-nights and feel like I was taken

    WOULD WE COME BACK?

Nope. I’m sticking with campgrounds that give you what you paid for.

    Kymers Camping Resort

Fun, friendly & nestled in the woods

We stayed at Kymer's on a whim for a weekend, so we could be close to Mountain Creek for a Spartan Race. It truly exceeded our expectations in all aspects. This is a family friendly, camper-friendly place. Lots of seasonals- everyone waves, everyone stops to chat. This is what a campground should feel like. The sound of laughter and play sitting around the huge, clean pool was refreshing. Our site was Oak 10. It was level, good placement of electric water & sewer connects. Camp store has all the basics you might need. There is a brook that flows adjacent to the property. It's peaceful & magical. Pet friendly, although we didn't have our pup with us. We will be back again. I almost feel like I'm revealing a hidden gem with this post. 💎

    Colonial Woods Family Resort

    Not big rig friendly.

Ok so let me start off by saying. If we still had our smaller travel trailer this review would’ve been at least 4 stars. However this place is not the place for you if you have a fifth wheel. The roads are very narrow, pretty sizable boulders on both sides, trees are very low and need to be trimmed (almost took my ac out with a huge limb). Now if you’re not big rig camping like we do, this place is great for you. Close to the ringing rocks and three other towns. We were able to do so much even though it rained the entire weekend we were there.

    Mahlon Dickerson Reservation

    Nice, small, spacious campground

We stayed at site 15 for 5 days. The sites are nicely wooded, very well spaced, fairly level with 50A service and water hookup. Although the water spigots were shared between sites, they provide hose caddies that should reach most RV hookups. No sewer hookup, but there is a convenient dump station. There are no fire rings in the RV section, only raised grills. We had the place pretty much to ourselves during the week, but the weekend did get busy. AT&T had ok data connection with 1-2 bars most of the time. There is no satellite coverage due to the heavy tree canopy. OTA TV was very inconsistent using an external omni antenna. There is no WiFi. There is a very nice network of trails in the reservation, most if not all were leashed dog friendly. There is a very nice restaurant, Stone Water, less than 10 miles away and is right on lake Hopatcong.

    Panther Lake Camping Resort

    Stayed all summer

We stayed at Panther Lake as full timers all season. Great during the week but very busy on weekends. Could be noisy with children not very well supervised.
Friendly, helpful staff. Cable TV poor when it rains. Cell service spotty all carriers. No internet at sites. Lake beautiful and pool nice.

    Turkey Swamp Park

    Quiet Woodland Campground

Turkey Swamp Park is a great find! Heavily wooded and supremely quiet, it’s located not far from anywhere you’d want to be. 30 minutes to the shore. Every site is a pull-through, large and spacious with great woodland views. 30amp and water. Dump station.

The park has miles of shady forested trails for hiking and dog walking. there’s a large lake here too, for water based recreational activities.

The bathrooms, showers, and laundry are co-located in a centrally situated structure. Everything inside is clean and well-maintained.

We’ve got good cell signal with Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. (We use all three.) Good OTA television signal also.

We spent three days here in July 2021.

Military Park NJ National Guard Training Center RV Sites

    Quiet, spacious, no frills

We stayed in site #1 with our 21' travel trailer. In our opinion this is the best site because you have an unobstructed view of Stockton Lake & the horizon over the ocean. Big rig spots are further back (around site 6-9 or so). 9 sites total & they are often booked, so need to do so in advance. Free beach just a few moments' walk down the road. Close to shore towns & many restaurants. Plenty of space for kids to play in the field/grass area. TONS of geese everywhere though. Pets are NOT allowed (but they'd probably help w the geese problem). You get access to the showers with a key card and when you check in, but I don't have anything to report as I used the bathroom/shower in our trailer. Price is great at $45/night. FULL hookups as well. Only annoying thing was the sewer hookup is about 18 inches off the ground so you need to lift the hose when emptying the tanks to ensure it actually fully drains.

Delaware Water Gap / Pocono Mountain KOA

    Family friendly, super kind staff

We have stayed at a few KOAs and we really liked this one. The staff were kind and so helpful. This is right by Shawnee, several water sports places and near some great hikes. Campground has some nice shaded 30amp back in spots with full hookups. We stayed in 47 which backs up to a wooded area & had good cover. Although the map shows site 47 as electric & water only it's actually full hookups (they just haven't updated the map yet). Some of the pull through sites in the center are not shaded at all, as a heads up. Friends stayed in a deluxe cabin, which was beautiful & looked brand new inside. The camp store has everything you might need. Wi-Fi is free and signal OK. The pool is well maintained and there's a ton of space for outdoor activities like volleyball, mini golf & more. We did a buddy site and stayed next to friends as well for a small extra fee per site. We would stay here again!

Guide to Clark

Most RV sites near Clark, New Jersey operate seasonally with many closing between November and April. Campgrounds within 40 miles of Clark vary from basic gravel lots to full-service facilities with concrete pads. New Jersey's coastal climate means moderate temperatures from May through October, with occasional heavy rain that can impact unpaved sites.

What to do

Explore New York City access points: Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City provides straightforward city access. "The light rail is a block away, and the path train is about 8. Having a view of Lady Liberty out your window is priceless," notes Karen S. Several transportation options make Manhattan visits convenient without driving.

Visit nearby state parks: Mahlon Dickerson Reservation offers extensive hiking opportunities. "There are plenty of trails, water (creeks, pond, lake) views and even if the place is packed there is PLENTY of room," explains John S. The reservation features multiple water features and maintains uncrowded conditions even during peak periods.

Animal encounters: Pleasant Acres Farm RV Resort incorporates farm animals into the camping experience. "The farm has goats, a donkey, and a pony within the campground. Very cool," reports Faith D. Children can interact with various farm animals throughout their stay.

What campers like

Military facilities: NWS Earle RV Park offers concrete pads with dedicated patios. "All spaces are level concrete with full hookups and attached concrete patio. Laundry facilities are free for use and in like new condition," writes Jeffrey. This military campground maintains higher-quality facilities than many civilian alternatives.

Privacy options: Some campgrounds offer secluded sites away from crowds. "Our site is easily the nicest - all the way in the back with only one neighbor. It is so quiet here," reports Greg S. about Mahlon Dickerson Reservation. Request specific site numbers when making reservations for maximum privacy.

Waterfront views: Military Park NJ National Guard Training Center provides shore access. "In our opinion this is the best site because you have an unobstructed view of Stockton Lake & the horizon over the ocean. Free beach just a few moments' walk down the road," shares Jessica D. Waterfront sites typically require advance booking, especially during summer months.

What you should know

RV size limitations: Many campgrounds cannot accommodate larger rigs. At Liberty Harbor RV Park, "Sites very close to one another. Sites kind of level and very close. Power and water, and convenient dump station if staying and needing to dump," according to Joe R. Most sites accommodate smaller to mid-size RVs better than large class A motorhomes.

Seasonal closures: Not all campgrounds operate year-round. "NWS Earle RV Park season runs April 1 to November 15," while Military Park NJ National Guard Training Center operates "Memorial Day to Labor Day." Winter camping options become extremely limited from December through March.

Sewer connection challenges: Several campgrounds have unusual sewer hookup placements. "A longer camper will be parked over the sewage connection," notes one reviewer about NWS Earle. At Military Park, "the sewer hookup is about 18 inches off the ground so you need to lift the hose when emptying the tanks to ensure it actually fully drains."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Mahlon Dickerson Reservation offers family-friendly outdoor play areas. "There is a playground, hayride, animals to feed (goats, chickens, donkey and pony). There were some organized activities which was nice," shares Janelle G. about Pleasant Acres Farm. Most family-oriented campgrounds maintain at least basic play equipment.

Safety considerations: Bear activity requires proper food storage in some areas. "There are a lot of bear warnings here so that gave us a bit of pause with our three little boys," notes Greg S. about Mahlon Dickerson Reservation. Follow posted wildlife safety guidelines and keep food secured.

Shower facilities: Quality varies significantly between campgrounds. "The bath house was above average and heated. The laundry was helpful and was acceptable," reports Joe R. about Liberty Harbor. Other campgrounds offer minimal facilities - "There was only 1 bathroom with small shower for all guests," according to one Skyline RV Camp review.

Tips from RVers

Navigation challenges: Route planning requires careful consideration. "Getting in and out of the city is an adventure. Stay right off the highway to avoid the $30 tunnel toll. Follow RV Life Pro and not Waze," advises Joe R. about Liberty Harbor RV Park. GPS routing often directs RVs onto unsuitable roads.

Off-season options: Black Bear RV Park remains open year-round but with reduced services. "We arrived after 8pm but I had called ahead to confirm our reservation. Everything is handled no-contact so there is no paper work to sign or pick up," explains Gabbie Y. Winter camping comes with significant limitations - "Unfortunately at this site, the heated water pipe was broken so we had no water for the night."

Campground management differences: Military Park NJ National Guard Training Center RV Sites maintains strict pet policies. "Pets are NOT allowed," notes Jessica D., while most other campgrounds welcome pets. Check each facility's specific rules before booking as policies vary significantly even between military campgrounds.
