Nice, quiet local campground

This campground is secluded and quiet. Next to a county park. Decent bath house with showers. Fire pits, water and electric hook ups at each site. $25 a night

If you need a spot this will do

This is just a rock parking area with electric hook up spaced out, next to lake,so no designated spots. Because it is popular for fishing you may have people walking through your campsite and in front of you site fishing on the lake. It is does have large trees so you may be able to park with shade.

Fun place to stay

I camped in the park for a friend's wedding. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it is. You park in the grass. Pull through is an option. Bathrooms were clean and close by. The river runs by so we had a fun night out on a sand bar. It's in town which has several restaurant choices. We didn't get…

Great Winter Camp

A lot of places in Iowa are closed to camping until April or even May. I looked west and quickly found this. There are areas of the park that are "closed for winter", but I was able to find a primitive spot for an overnight to get out and enjoy the rebound from the subzero weather of the previous…

Great little free camp

These small towns in NE have the right idea with these free community campgrounds. It’s just the reason we need to stop and visit local businesses and explore a town we would normally just pass through.

This camp is nothing fancy but very nice. It’s a short walk to the Mainstreet shops and the…

Very Beautiful Place

Small towns tend to be quiet areas anyway and this is surrounded by small towns. Therefore it has that ALL is welcome feel, quiet and beautiful grounds. I believe it’s fairly new. There’s a wonderful trail to walk around a small lake. Beautiful just doesn’t justify the look and feel of this place.…

Beautiful Park

Ponca State Park is beautiful. The drive from Omaha was so quick and easy. The park is beautiful with tons of trails and things to explore. The overlooks are great, you can see so much of the river. Bathroom areas are well kept and so are the grounds. The campsites are well spread out and we found…

Hiker's delight

This park is definitely a must see for all types of campers. They have everything for all types of campers. There is a visitors center that has a little bit of the history of the area as well as education of the Missouri river. There is different types of cabins, (or look more like houses). …

Very nice clean well maintained cg on a pretty lake. Modern rest room w showers. Electric at site. Various water spigots throughout. Dump at entrance. Quiet restful picturesque. But the roads getting there are terrible. The west road in is 2 miles of gravel then 3 miles on dirt. Wont make it if it…

Not the best place

This park is a nice place to visit during the day, but not a place I would stay over night. Has access to the Cowboy trail which is great for walks, runs, and biking. It is near the highway coming into Norfolk and attracts some strange people typically. This area is also known for a drug deal…
