    Czechland Lake Recreation Area

Great first come first serve campground

This is a nice small campground that is well taken care of. We stayed at site number 8 which may be one of the more unlevel spots. The passenger side of our 5th wheel was about 7" lower than driver side and rear of fifth wheel was about 3" lower than front before we levelled out.

    Pros:

-Well maintained walking trails that are perfect for dogs

-Most sites have 30 and 50 amp hookups

-Fire rings and picnic tables at most sites

-$18 a night for electric hookups

    -Quiet

    Cons:

    -Some sites are very unlevel

    -No water or dump station

    Czechland Lake Recreation Area

    Peaceful

Has fishing, kayaking, hiking, 3 covered picnic areas with electricity, wildlife watching, no-wake boating, 11 (50 amp) RV/tent pads/sites at $20 per night, 3 free non-electrical RV/tent pads/sites, & free tent camping area by the dock. No park permit required. Can pay for pads/sites with cash or with mobile phone. Sites have trash cans, picnic tables and fire rings. Primitive bathrooms available. Water spigots available and working. No dumpsite. Dogs welcome but must be leashed.

May be difficult parking for larger rigs (35ft+) due to the one way entrance and curvature of the campground. Also note that you will need to bring leveling blocks for nearly every site since the campground is build on a hill.

    Dead Timber State Rec Area

    Quiet retreat

There are areas dedicated for daily use, primitive camping and electric sites. Great Lake for kayaking or a small jon boat. Has restrooms available, no showers. No dumpsite. Fire pit and picnic table available at sites.

Appears to be a quiet retreat with minimal campers.

    Howells Community Park

    Good overnight spot while traveling.

    Pros

    -Water/Electricity/Dump station

    -Public restroom

-Near a gas station and convenience mart

    -Free will donation for firewood

    -Flat camping spots

    -Park nearby

    -Fire Rings

    Cons

    - There are only around 6 spots

-You share your water connection with your neighbor

-RV slips are right at the park entrance so there is the risk of traffic non stop if the park is being used for an event

I came in a couple days before memorial weekend and all of the RV spots were reserved so I only did a short drive around grabbing some photos. It looks like a great spot to swing in overnight if there are any open spots.

    Powerhouse Park

Primitive Camping by a Hydro Plant

Nice playground, picnic tables, and charcoal grills. Clean restroom. Free tent camping. good fishing in the canal. Close to town yet far enough away.

Nice parks in town including a memorial to Andrew Jackson Higgins, the inventor of the Higgins landing craft,

    Mammoth waterpark.

Better park for a picnic than camping.

    Lake Babcock at Loup Park

Free Campground with Hookup next to Lake and Wetland

The campground has multiple hookups with gravel slabs, picnic tables, and firepits with grates. in addition, many have raised charcoal grills. A paved walking trail goes from the campground and connects to a system of trails. Vault toilet was clean and close.

The camp area was close to a heavily trafficked road but it caused little disturbance. the toilet had no doors making it a concern if you were to enter and discover someone in use and made it uneasy when you were using it yourself for the same reason.

Columbus has a lot going on including a large waterpark.

    Ta-Ha-Zouka Park

    Much better!

We stayed there late July 2023. This year they added a camp host. When we pulled up, he greeted us and was very friendly! Having a camp host has made the campsite much more safe and appealing. The locals told us it used to be a mess and it's so much better now. The campsite was much better than I expected for Norfolk, NE. We will be staying here again! Can't beat the price.

Before we pulled up, we had to fill with water because there is no water at the sites themselves. And no sewer dump at the sites. (There is one on your way out). However, we had full 50 amp power. The concrete pads made it nice to park the RV on for easy set up.

Summit Lake State Recreation Area Campground

    Quiet and worth booking

Pros: Quiet, walking trails, lake, bar nearby, clean showers and bathroom, building a new playground as of 10/2022

Cons: Dump station is on a noticeable uphill slope, so you won't be able to completely empty a tank if your setup is the wrong way. No water hookups at sites.

We stayed in October 2022 at site 28. This is my favorite site because it has a convienient water spicket right next to it if you want to fill your freshwater tank without moving your rig. The only drawback is that it is right next to the showers so a little busy. Campground is well kept. Lake is low as of 2022 but looks to be refilling.
