Huge!

Very large, open place with the river close to most campers. I never floated here but I'm sure it's quite the party!

Good for City Folk

For those who need to get out of town yet can't imagine not checking the latest tweet, Tik Tok, or Instagram post, this park is for you. Not 2 miles from Six Flags, and 5 minutes from the freeway, you'll find plenty of beauty, creature comfort amenities, and cell service.

We are looking at 3 primitive campsites(closed at the time of this review), 6 family tent sites, as well as plenty of RV spaces with electrical hookups.

The park is known for its well-groomed trails, which are used by hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians alike. Plenty of stables surround the area, where you may rent a horse and go for a stroll through the woods.

The primitive sites are large, with picnic tables and an outhouse, while the family tent ones are near restrooms, showers and a source of water.

The whole park is rather pretty with plenty to do and see.

Now, with that said, I was not a huge fan. This is not a place for a person who wants to get away from people. The Family tent sites are very close to the road, as in 10ft from it, so traffic to and from the stables are rather annoying. Being very close, the freeway noise is still present, and you'll find many motorcycles riding by you on their way through the winding roads of Wildwood. It's a nice sight but the noise sucks. The place has A LOT of deer which means that ticks are everywhere-which is not a big deal if you know what you're doing.

During the time I spent here 2 different homeless looking kids stopped by asking for food, money, to borrow my phone to make a call. One after the other had to be shooed out of my site. That was followed by a STL County Police Officer patrolling the location. That did not settle well, and the night was a bit odd. Keep in mind that I was here alone and during the middle of the week so, chances are, during the weekend you might not have the same experience.

Overall, this is well maintained park with plenty of activities and close to all the luxuries that a town can offer, lots of amenities nearby or on site.

You would enjoy it:

  • If you want to be near civilization.
  • If you are a family with children.
  • If you want to enjoy Six Flags and then go camping.
  • If you would like mountain biking.
  • If you need facilities such as bathrooms and showers

You'd, maybe, not enjoy it so much:

  • If you'd like to disconnect.
  • If you are looking for less noise
  • If you are looking for less cars/traffic
  • If you are looking to be alone with your thoughts.
Great privete campground.

Great privete campground in the StLouis area open during the Cronavirous crises. Everything open except the pool and playground. Hopefully all the amenities will open soon. Showers were well stocked and clean. Good hot water. The store and gift shop has everything you could need. Friendly staff and lots of activities to do.

Great near by campsite

First time camping and I wanted to stay near by. Babler was perfect. Our site had plenty of space and neighbors were very friendly. We did the historical program at the amphitheater at 8pm and kids loved hiking in the dark.

Nice camp ground.

We had a good time camping on the back loop. Sites 105 to 111. Full hook up, shade and near river. Plenty of room on the gravel bar to have fun.

We floated. They picked us up and dropped us off at our camp sites since we had a large group. Expensive to float but we had a good time. Floated on Sunday to avoid the crazies on Saturday.

Shower houses were not clean…. luckily we didn't have to use them.

We've also stayed with a large group at Hiller House. Sleeps 20 with it's own private, clean shower house connected with normal bathroom. The house sleeps a large group and has plenty of room outside to do group activities. Kitchen is small but has a 20 foot picnic table in dining area. We were able to watch 4th of July fireworks from the porch. Need to drive from the house to the water but they pick up for floats.

In St. Louis County but with a country feel!

This park is really nice and has been redone with in the last 10 years maybe less. If you want to camp and enjoy nature without driving forever this is a good park.

This park is perfect for hiking and bring the bikes along for the kids and even yourselves. My kids loved going here when they were young because it was just simple, uncomplicated camping and they weren't trapped in the car for hours to get here.

Quick and Convenient

Babler is located off I-64 in the chesterfield area about 30 minutes from Saint Louis. There are many spots to choose from. Basic and electric/water sites. Tent and Rv set ups are mixed. The site provides wood, ice, water, shower house and outhouses. There are equestrian and hiking trails. No rivers or water available. It is quiet and some areas are on hills. I would say the only issue is the raccoons. They dont give a darn who you are. They will walk right up to, smile, and take your chips. Scandalous! We love this site because its close and convenient.

Fun

A great place to go to camp with friends and family

Great get away.

Well taken care of and close to the city. Trails range from a short walk to an endless combination.

Definitely great for party life

Great for partying, not the best place for little ones. Most sites are spread out with enough space in between
